Steve Bannon: Impudent Insurrectionist or Principled Patriot?

Friends, remember our old pal Steve Bannon?  He played a critical role in Donald Trump's victory in 2016, and started the Trump Administration as a key presidential advisor, but it didn't take long for DJT to turn on him -- perhaps because the media relentlessly portrayed him as a wild-eyed "white nationalist".  Well, he was and is a nationalist, and I guess technically he's white too, but that doesn't make him a Nazi, and in my opinion Trump was mistaken in deciding to throw him overboard.  Anyway, now Bannon is back in the news, because of the House of Representatives' recent vote to hold him in "contempt of Congress".  He's refusing, you see, to testify before Nancy Pelosi's kangaroo court, a.k.a. the select committee investigating the January 6th "insurrection".  My latest article breaks down the political ramifications of this kerfuffle.  See what you think.

In other news, Biden's plummeting poll numbers are setting records, according to Gallup -- records that hardly bode well for the Dems in 2022.  Long may it last!

Meanwhile, this article lays out a strong case for why third party candidates aren't likely to make a major difference in 2024.  I guess third party candidates are never likely to accomplish much of anything -- except when they do, and the surreal political landscape of the here and now is one in which we can't rule out anything, no matter how far-fetched.

  1. Polls won't make any difference whatsoever, if the elections are "tampered" with in 2022 and 2024. Also, I can't imagine that Joe will be fit to run for anything come 2024. Look at the way he acts now. Does anyone believe he is running anything now? It s

  2. I agree: there's little danger that Joe Biden will run again in 2024...although frankly I wish he would. He'd be the perfect fall guy.

You can bet your bottom dollar that the Dems will "tamper" with the 2022 and 2024 elections. That doesn't mean that they'll win them. No election is perfect. On the other hand, few if any American elections are utterly fraudulent and phony. To me, it looks like the Dems gamed the system in 2020, but they didn't stuff the ballot box, per se. That gives me hope for the future.

    1. Nick,

I did not think of that, but perhaps Biden should run again.

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Your Townhall article is well taken and it provokes in me the following insolent heresies: Ditto, ditto: for anyone to express opposition to the by definition irrefutable wisdom of the left is certainly tantamount to insurrection, in the left's basilisk eye. How casual they are in revealing to us what it would be like for us all, including their pusillanimous apologists, should they achieve the totalitarian sway they expect. Too, that shows how very much they presume their triumph is nigh. Its obvious, they boil with suppressed vindictiveness for the ordeal of democratic process they have been forced to endure since they sprang from Zuess's (or maybe Nobel token, oh sorry, I meant "Laureate" Dylan's) forehead.

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: You are very right in saying this Pelosi inquisition is a long since proven partisan campaign. Why, she and the Dems are desperate: their Russiagate campaign may have helped them gain the temporary absence from the Executive branch of Trump nation but has since been proven a sham. Pelosi's present effort wil prove to be a second disingenuity, the presumptuousness of which, together with its obvious sneer at an assumed credulous America, may well redound to its disfavor where it counts, those pesky voting booths. "Of course we on the left can game that, so let us onward!"

  5. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I agree, these are strange times in which the recently manifested could not have been admitted of credible prediction. Perhaps the radical left has become a defacto third party enjoying as its vehicle the Dem party. Has it grown unbearably restive at having to endure the vagaries of its marionette in the White House? Do they yearn to cast such as Manchin and Sinema unto summary judgement and deserved exile? They had thought themselves needing only Biden's doddering signature to make much "progress" in this, their hardly bearable prelude to absolute power. They may now be tempted to go for it all! Together with the real America and that rump of the once, distantly, loyal Dem party which cannot yet bring itself to unite with those who have long since discerned the existential threat from the left, may generate a 3 party situation.

  6. Ray, I'd say there's a small chance Biden will run again. He probably thinks he's indispensable, after all!

Jack, the Left does seem to think their triumph is nigh, as you say, but on the other hand they also seem to think fascism is nigh. They're forever talking about democracy being on its last legs. It's pretty hard to make sense of so much contradictory nonsense!

Jack, I seriously doubt that the voters will reelect anyone based on what happened on January 6th. The American people have short memories. Yeah, they disliked the riots of summer 2020. Yeah, they disliked the Capitol riot. All that will be water under the bridge by next November.

Could the progressives secede from the Dems? Sure, but I doubt they will. That would require an alienation from practical reality that I'm not sure even the wokest among us possess. But perhaps I underestimate them?

  7. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Any regard expressed by the Marxist left for democracy is utterly disingenuous and discredited. "People's Democratic etc.," "Democratic Republic of . . . " , "Students for a democratic etc. "ad nauseum; those are bywords which fairly characterize their cynical use of the term, throughout their detested history and to this day! They are completely bereft of moral authority to task any persons or entities for being a threat to democracy. Perhaps it is in celebration that they may see true democracy on its last legs.

  8. Yes! The Left views the abnegation of the people's will as the only true form of democracy, which is yet more evidence of their delightful (if unconscious) sense of irony.
