Cowgirls, Watch Out!

Friends, your favorite gunslinger and all around rough, tough hombre, Dr. Nick, bids you greetings from Greater Tucson, Arizona, where he is currently luxuriating in thankfulness, friendship, and sunshine.

In other news, you may have heard that there's a new COVID variant that's almost certainly going to kill you.  Oh well.  You had a good run.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/25/world/covid-variant-south-africa-immune-evasion-transmissibility/index.html

Unrelatedly, there has been a slight spike in COVID cases nationally, led by blue states.

Peronally, I think it's high time we stopped focusing on "cases" and looked more at excess deaths, which is where the rubber meets the road, after all.

You might find that this article, even though it's written by a leftist, will give you a more upbeat, optimistic perspective on the world this holiday season:

Finally, this one is interesting: Alabama is fining municipalities that remove Confederate monuments, on the theory that history, whether we like it or not, is worth preserving.  Bravo, Alabama!  At least someone, somewhere is trying to hold back the flood tide of cancel culture...

Happy Trumpsgiving, America!

Friends, my latest article isn't about Trump so much as it's about you, the beleagured American conservative, and why, even in this, our season of discontent, we right-wingers should be thankful for what America is, and how well our country has weathered the storm of socialism and wokeness.  It's a bit of good cheer that I hope will inspire you and yours this holiday season.  You can read it soon at World Net Daily.  You can read it right now here:

A Deplorable Thanksgiving

During this season of thankfulness, it can be all too easy for conservatives to sink into an attitude of lethargy, compounded by despair. After all, since March 2020 we've seen government spending and the power of bureaucrats explode as never before – in reaction, allegedly, to the coronavirus pandemic.

Worse, just one year ago, we suffered a humiliating triple defeat in the 2020 election, with the dastardly Dems capturing the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. Conservatives differ on whether, or how much, this election was “free and fair”, but almost regardless of the answer our loss was still a tragedy of gargantuan proportions.

The fact is, however, that we “deplorables” have much to be thankful for.

Just with regard to the 2020 election and its ramifications, we can count our lucky stars that President Trump motivated 12 million extra Americans to vote for him and for GOP candidates (compared to the 62 million who supported Trump in 2016), because that surge of enthusiasm on the right kept the Democratic majorities in the Senate and the House paper-thin. That has made it well nigh impossible for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to push through “transformative” legislation, and it has given the few “moderates” left in the Democratic Party substantial leverage over the Biden agenda, such as it is.

In short, the damage that a Dem-led Congress has done could have been far worse. There is even a very good chance, increasing by the day, that the dreaded reconciliation bill, rebranded as a “social spending” measure or as the “Build Back Better Bill”, will die an ignominious death at the hands of Joe Manchin.

We can also be thankful, in a perverse way, that Joe Biden was elected President, or “President”, as some skeptics might prefer it. Biden is inarticulate, out-of-touch, and profoundly uninspiring and disappointing – and that's according to Democrats! Biden was always a poor representative of the fire-breathing, hyper-woke modern Left. He's also proving to be even less competent and politically astute than Democrats feared, and Republicans expected. His poll numbers have tumbled with historic rapidity, and in time to drag Terry McAuliffe, among others, down to defeat in 2021, serving notice to the whole Democratic Party that it faces electoral armageddon in 2022.

Let's be honest: a different Democratic President – a more persuasive, appealing leader, and perhaps a more subtle one – would have posed a far greater danger to Republicans, to conservatives, to Trumpers, and, most importantly, to the country. Biden has proven such a disaster, in fact, that no leftist/mainstream media attempt to change the overarching narrative (“Insurrection!”) has had any appreciable effect.

Despite all this, Jen Psaki tells us that Sleepy Joe “intends” to run for reelection in 2024. Now that is the best news I've heard in years! Trump will be elated.

Finally, we on the right can and should be thankful that, although the Biden Administration is smashing, like a wrecking ball, into the superstructure of America, the fact is that our nation's foundation remains intact.

Americans are stubbornly adhering to their traditional “family values” this holiday season, gathering with relatives to celebrate God's grace, America's bounty, and their love for one another. Every Thanksgiving meal, in fact, is a rebuke to those leftist nags who say we ought to be masked, alone, and watching CNN this year, instead of sitting around the dining room table and sharing a meal with loved ones.

And, somewhat miraculously, given the abuse it takes from parasitical socialists and arrogant bureaucrats, our capitalist economy has proven to be extraordinarily resilient. Try as they might to deaden Americans' work ethics and entrepreneurial zeal with the entitlement mentality and by endlessly playing the victim card, Democrats have not yet driven a stake through the heart of the free market system. Inflation will wound the U.S. economy, and the living standards of ordinary Americans, but there is every reason to believe that, when the storm of socialism passes, Americans are ready to get back to work, to innovate, to invest, and to embrace a governing philosophy based on the idea that a great country should, first and foremost, live within its means.

The immediate future may not be bright, therefore. In fact, significant pain and sacrifice lies ahead, as Democratic mismanagement compounds the various crises we already face. Nonetheless, we can tell by the crestfallen faces on the Left that the radical transformation of America, and the evisceration of our values, that they hoped to achieve will not come to pass.

Was it our wisdom and perseverance on the right, or the Dems' sheer imbecility and bull-headedness, that worked this miracle, this narrow escape from the jaws of neo-Marxism?

Who knows. Either way, America is back.

Thank God!

In other news, it's looking increasingly likely that the murder suspect in Waukesha, Wisconsin was motivated, in part, by animus towards white people.  We all know, of course, that the media would happily jump to conclusions about an alleged murderer's horrific racism, if the murderer was white and the victims were black.  Alas, the reality of anti-white racism barely registers with the mainstream media.  Given how critical race theory teaches millions of Americans that whites are inherently racist, and America is inherently evil, however, it would hardly be surprising if anti-white bias were surging.  Do "white lives matter"?  To the relatives of the victims, no doubt they do.  To the press and to our political elite, though, the victimization of whites by black offenders only produces discomfort and denial.  Expect, therefore, that the Waukesha incident will be quickly forgotten, and Darrell Brooks will be written off as a lone kook.

Sleepy Joe Strikes Oil!

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show with me and Brian O'Neil is replete with legendary insights.  Brian and I hash over the Biden Administration's (hypocritical) decision to release oil from the strategic reserve in order to lower gas prices, Jen Psaki's laughable claim that Biden "intends" to run again in 2024, the implications of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict, and much, much more!

In our "This Day in History" segment, Brian and I discuss the public's ongoing love-hate relationship with Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection, the fate of the "Hollywood Ten" cited for contempt of Congress way back in 1947, the collapse of international tourism in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the killing of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby, and the consequent shortcircuiting of the search for justice regarding the JFK assassination, and more!

It's a show That's up to our usual incredibly high standards.  Don't miss out!

And, in other news, check out this morsel of hilarity from the "Women's March": they're apologizing because recently their average donation was $14.92, which of course is a RACIST number!  Ha!  You can't make this stuff up, folks.

Twelve Not-So-Angry Men and Women

Friends, many on the right are chuffed about the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial.  I happen to know the fellow who wrote the following article, and I agree entirely with its analysis: the Rittenhouse trial wasn't about race or ideology or gun rights.  It was about the rule of law and the presumption of innocence.  Kyle Rittenhouse may well have made some poor decisions on that fateful night, but that doesn't mean it was, or should have been, easy for prosecutors to prove him guilty of murder.  If there's a reasonable doubt about whether he acted in self-defense, then, according to our system, the jury had to find him innocent.  And they did.  So kudos to Kyle Rittenhouse and his lawyers, but, even more so, kudos to the Rittenhouse jury, which was under horrific pressure to lock the boy up and throw away the key, but instead discharged its duty and found him not guilty.

https://amgreatness.com/2021/11/20/the-rittenhouse-peace-dividend/

Joe Biden, in case you haven't heard, is "angry and concerned" about the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict.  Why?  He doesn't say, but we can assume the answer: Kyle Rittenhouse is a white male who resisted the BLM mobs in the midst of a riot.  Ergo, his guilt is something we ought to take for granted.  In other words, Rittenhouse was guilty the second he emerged from his mother's womb with the wrong skin tone.

https://news.yahoo.com/joe-biden-says-hes-angry-223044027.html

Things are getting wild in the Bay Area!  Rampant shoplifting was just an appetizer, apparently.  Be glad that you don't live on the Left Coast!

Finally, file this under "the biggest news stories that rarely make the news".  Having children -- which the more sophisticated among you might refer to as "procreation" -- is becoming more and more passé.  For a variety of reasons, almost all of them stupid, the most successful, intelligent, and responsible people in Western societies are deciding not to have children.  The least successful, intelligent, and responsible among us, on the other hand, are still cranking out offspring like there's no tomorrow.  Socially (not to mention genetically), this simply can't end well.

Happy Birthday, Sleepy Joe!

We here at WaddyIsRight wish "President" Joe Biden a VERY Happy 79th Birthday!  You don't look a day over 100, and that's the truth.  We trust you'll have lots of birthday cake, and -- who knows -- maybe some starry-eyed kids will rub the hairs on your legs...for a treat!  You deserve it, old man.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/biden-birthday-age-2024

In other news, President Trump is sounding off on the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict.  Personally, I don't prejudge or pontificate on criminal trials.  I mean, I wasn't there in Kenosha, for the shooting or the trial, so there's a ton I don't know about Rittenhouse's guilt or innocence.  One thing I do know, however, is that, in America, we're all innocent until proven guilty.  Thus, we all need to take a deep breath and remember: just because we don't like someone (and heaven knows the Left HATES Kyle Rittenhouse), that doesn't make them guilty of any crime.  Want to move the goalposts and assume everyone guilty until proven innocent?  Then I say: be careful what you wish for!

Finally, wokeness has infected our schools in countless ways, some subtle and some not so subtle, but check out this article about how teachers essentially try to recruit middle-schoolers to the LGBTQ+ "team".  And it appears to be working: a huge percentage of youngsters now idenitify as gay, "non-binary", and the like.

China's Favorite Son

Friends, you may well ask: is this man (Joe Biden) working directly for the People's Republic of China?  Sometimes it sure seems that way.  As this outstanding op-ed argues, China and the U.S. government appear to be implicated in the genesis of the coronavirus, and Sleepy Joe seems utterly uninterested in getting to the bottom of it.  Virus?  What virus?  Never heard of it.

https://nypost.com/2021/11/17/biden-didnt-press-xi-at-summit-feds-part-of-covid-coverup/

Speaking of the dreaded virus, a recent poll indicates that fewer and fewer Americans have confidence in the efficacy and safety of the vaccines.  I can't say I'm surprised.  The party line these days seems to be: get vaccinated...and then, uhhh, get re-vaccinated, but keep your mask on, because the vaccines don't work all that great.  Encouraging?  Not really.  Be that as it may, I'm triple vaccinated myself, and I'm not dead yet!

https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/covid-19-vaccinemandates-poll/2021/11/18/id/1045325/

How low can Sleepy Joe go?  36% approval is the new record, but I feel sure that our Commander-in-Chief can plumb new depths.  Just you wait!

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-record-low-approval-rating-new-poll

Finally, in case you were inclined to believe Biden's fairy tale that the "Build Back Better" Bill, a.k.a. the reconciliation bill, costs "zero dollars", well, you're a certifiable moron, so you probably won't even be able to read this article refuting your delusions, but still...

Hasta La Vista, GOP!

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show with me and Brian O'Neil covers all the bases.  In terms of current events, Brian and I discuss the ramifications of the passage of the much-ballyhooed "infrastructure bill" (yawn!), Prince Harry's one-man crusade against "misinformation" (double yawn!), the sham "climate conference" that recently concluded in Glasgow, the Wyoming GOP's expulsion of Liz Cheney, and the never-ending story of Bidenist/Dem deterioration in the polls.  My my!  That's a lot of top-grade analysis!

When we turn to This Day in History, Brian and I talk about Arnold Schwarzenegger's stint as California Governor, followed by his estrangement from the GOP during the Trump era; the "Velvet Revolution" in Czechoslovakia in 1989 and the incredibly rapid disintegration of Eastern European communism; and the phony leftist narrative of the cruelty of U.S. forces fighting in Vietnam and, later, Iraq.  There is, I declare, no moral equivalency between the American military and the forces of America's enemies, like Al Qaeda and the Viet Cong.

All in all, it's a great show.  The only thing missing is...you!

https://wlea.net/newsmaker-november-17-2021-dr-nick-waddy/

In other news, doubts about Sleepy Joe's physical and mental fitness are going mainstream.  Yikes!  This is not good for the alleged President of these United States...  The problem for the Dems, of course, is that their backup Prez, i.e. Kam Kam, is no better!

When Even Fake News Can't Conceal the Truth

Friends, we all know that the mainstream media doesn't care a whit for objectivity or truth.  They serve "the narrative", which means...whatever narrative advances the interests of the Democratic Party and the agenda of progressivism.  No wonder that public trust in the media is reaching all-time lows.  What's amazing, though, is that, these days, even the MSM is piling criticism on poor Joe Biden and the Democrats -- at long last!  What's more, media polls, which tend, as we are all painfully aware, to overstate support for Democrats and under-report support for Republicans, are showing a massive decline in support for the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats.  The latest ABC/Washington Post poll is a case in point.  Among "registered voters", it's got Republicans a whopping ten points ahead on the "generic ballot" question for 2022.  Among likely voters, the numbers would be even more alarming for the Dems.  The upshot here is that the Dems are already in a deep, deep hole, which the GOP win in Virginia, and near win in New Jersey, signified two weeks ago.  The question is: how will Democrats react?  Will they double down on their ambitious, expensive, "woke" agenda in Congress?  Or will "moderate" Dems start looking for the ideological exits, i.e. will they look for ways to differentiate themselves from a Democratic "brand" that is clearly tanking?  If I were a dastardly Dem, my greatest fear would be a deterioration in the economy between now and November 2022 -- which in my view is likely -- because that would make a bad situation for lefties even worse.  Sobering, no?  Well, it would be if you were a Biden backer, which thankfully you're not!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/11/14/post-abc-poll-biden/

P.S. You gotta love how the WaPo begins its article: with a phony declaration that the public supports Biden's plans, including the reconciliation bill.  That all depends on how you ask the question!  Duh.

Governors in the Crosshairs

Friends, I know you're all excited about the 2022 midterm elections, when we have a chance to retake the House and Senate.  We also, however, have the opportunity to pick up a lot of Governorships in purple states.  And that could in turn prove decisive in 2024, because GOP Governors (and Secretaries of State and Attorneys-General) will be in a position to prevent the kind of electoral abuses that marred the 2020 election.

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/11/13/dem-governors-2022-elections-521218

Consumer sentiment is really getting hammered by inflation worries, and bad consumer sentiment is one of the most telling harbingers of a recession.  In other words, now might be the ideal time to liquidate some of your investments and batten down the hatches!

The January 6th boosters are still at it, trying to foster a narrative that condemns all Trumpers and Republicans as "insurrectionists".  Their latest tactic is the pursuit of federal charges against Steve Bannon.  This was entirely predictable.  You know, it's funny -- Eric Holder, Obama's Attorney General, was never charged criminally when he was cited for contempt of Congress.  It's almost like there's a...double standard?

Finally, this year's climate summit in Glasgow is breaking all records...for boosting carbon emissions!  Bravo!  If increasing emissions is the path to lowering emissions, as the Chinese seem to believe, then the climate doomsayers in Scotland are definitely part of the solution.  And, if you believe that, I've got some beachfront property in Kansas to sell you.

The Eleventh Hour

We here at WaddyIsRight wish all veterans, and their loved ones, a Happy Veterans Day!  We honor your sacrifices and appreciate your service to the red, white, and blue!  We express, furthermore, our heartfelt wish that the armed services will forever remain patriotic, courageous, and honorable...and that they will never succumb to wokeism, Marxism, or cancel culture.

https://www.19fortyfive.com/2021/11/veterans-day-a-holiday-of-gratitude-and-reflection/

In other news, the question that everyone keeps asking re: "President" Biden's approval rating is...how low can he go?  So far, the low bid is 36%, but I have a feeling we'll see an even more pathetic number surface in the days and weeks ahead.  Stay tuned!

https://thefederalist.com/2021/11/10/new-fdrlst-susquehanna-poll-shows-bidens-approval-sliding-to-36-percent-widespread-disapproval-of-critical-race-theory/

It turns out that, at least in Canada, "climate change" is now a medical condition, and presumably it could also therefore be a "cause of death".  Now, it's technically true that the effects of climate change could lead someone, somewhere, to get sick and/or die, but wouldn't it be equally accurate to say that their condition, or cause of death, was "the sun" or maybe "biology" or "dumb choices".  Hey, we all know where this is headed.  Sooner or later, a death certificate will list "Trump" as the cause of death.  And lefties will nod their approval -- blinkered lemmings that they are.

https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2021/11/11/canadian-doctor-diagnoses-woman-as-suffering-from-climate-change/

Finally, don't buy into the Dems' spin on the "reconciliation bill".  They say they've sliced its cost in half to (a mere) $1.75 trillion.  Objective analyses, however, say that its true cost is way higher.  The Dems are counting on Americans' legendary susceptibility to "fuzzy math" to get their spendthrift bill passed.  Don't fall into their trap!

Russia, Russia, Russia!

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show with me and Brian O'Neil might just be the best of all time -- and that's a high standard, as you know!  Brian and I cover some weighty topics, including the political future of Joe Manchin, the derisory standing of national Democrats in the polls (even "fake" media polls!), and the unexpected escalation of the Durham inquiry into the Trump-Russia hoax and its perpetrators.

When we turn to This Day in History, Brian and I cover war remembrance and the rise of pacifism in the last century, with profound implications for the effectiveness of strategies of deterrence.  We also talk about the German invasion of Vichy France in 1942, the seeming impossibility of winding down ANY governmental program or agency, and George W. Bush's challenge to the U.N. in November 2001.  He demanded that the countries of the world make battling terrorism their number one priority -- a point of view that seems downright quaint nowadays!

Whew!  This analysis is HOT HOT HOT!  Don't miss a second of it.

In other news, a major Wall Street firm is now judging its executives based on their attainment of numerical quotas for the hiring and promotion of women and minorities -- and the hiring of white men is apparently so presumptively offensive that managers require special permission to do so.  Seems like now might be the time to remind these people about the Civil Rights Act of 1964!

https://redstate.com/mike_miller/2021/11/08/leaders-at-one-of-americas-largest-investment-firms-must-now-get-approval-to-hire-white-men-n471723

Inflation is heating up!  What's worse, for the Dems, is the real possibility that Joe Manchin will use inflation as a pretext to tank their ambitious reconciliation bill.  That would be a silver lining to our economic plight, no?

https://hotair.com/allahpundit/2021/11/10/is-manchin-about-to-tank-the-reconciliation-bill-over-inflation-n428309

Hate crimes sure are hateful!  I'm sure we all agree on that.  What we don't seem able to agree on is whether "hate" is the exclusive preserve of white people.  I mean, do people of color ever commit hate crimes?  I've certainly never heard of such a case on CNN or read about one in the New York Times...  And yet, as it turns out, non-white people are actually PEOPLE, with all the foibles one might expect in homo sapiens.  Whoa!  What a revelation.

https://www.theblaze.com/news/anti-white-hate-crime-highest-level

Now, we've been lamenting the state of the American academy for years on this blog.  The capture of higher education by woke lunatics is very nearly complete.  That's why it's so interesting that Niall Ferguson and some other intellectuals have launched a bold new project to build a new university in Austin, Texas -- one that doesn't cancel freedom of conscience and free speech, in general, and conservatism, in particular.  We here at WaddyIsRight wish those engaged in this noble crusade the very best of luck!

https://www.bloombergquint.com/gadfly/niall-ferguson-america-s-woke-universities-need-to-be-replaced

Speaking of the pitfalls of American education, don't look now but some California school districts are eliminating grades A, B, C, D, and F because (you guessed it) those letters are RACIST!  They're also encouraging teachers to stop evaluating students based on "subjective" and "irrelevant" factors like their behavior, participation, or whether or not they show up or hand in work on time.  Consider, however, where this leaves us.  The Left has already cancelled standardized tests like the SAT -- objective measures of performance -- because these tests don't lead to the kind of racially "equitable" results that they're looking for.  Translation: black and Hispanic students don't do well on standardized tests, generally speaking, so out they go!  Now the woke crowd is saying that subjective measures are also suspect, because they provide a means by which "bias" can contaminate the educational process.  But, and this is the important point, if we can't evaluate students of color objectively or subjectively, then we can't evaluate them at all!  Nowadays, no system of assessment that leads to the stigmatization of (some) students of color as failures, in any way, shape, or form, is permissible.  I think the only conclusion one can reach is that grades and meritocracy are not long for this world, and in the foreseeable future life's rewards will be distributed on the grounds of "equity" (i.e. based on the agenda of the Left) and not based on "merit" of any kind.  Assuming you don't mind if the bridge that you're driving over was designed by a cretin, or if the doctor performing your open heart surgery isn't entirely sure where hearts are located, then you should be entirely satisfied with the world of tomorrow!

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/community-family/california-schools-ditch-a-f-grades-citing-racial-gaps-and-dropping-student-achievement

Finally, I believe everyone should make their own decisions about whether to "get the jab".  The simple fact is, though, that the Trump vaccine is effective.  Will it turn us all inside out after one year of percolating in our bloodstream?  Maybe, but I doubt it.  In the meantime, though, it does seem to lower, to a remarkable degree, one's susceptibility to the coronavirus.  So I say: bravo, Trump!

The Greatest West Virginian of All Time? (It's a Short List)

Friends, my latest article, available at American Greatness, notes that Joe Manchin is sounding more and more like a person of sound mind; ergo, he can't possibly stay a Democrat much longer!  He'll be expelled from the party, if he doesn't choose to secede from it.  Oops!  Sorry -- "secession" is insurrectionist talk.  I need to govern my tongue.  Anyway, see what you make of my sage observations.  Any bets on when, or if, Manchin might become "one of us"?

In other news,  Biden's approval numbers appear to be cratering to a level that jeopardizes Democratic prospects in 2022.  Oh no!  What a tragedy.

Some are starting to wonder whether John Durham might be close to nailing a number of prominent Dems as co-conspirators in the Trump-Russia con job.  Let's hope!

The "Rainbow Nation" Succumbs to Identity Politics

Friends, when South Africa held its first all-race elections in 1994, the world breathed a sigh of relief, assuming that racial strife had been avoided and a bright, democratic, tolerant future lay ahead.  Well, those high hopes have come crashing down to earth in recent years.  Increasingly, the ruling African National Congress uses cynical appeals to the racial loyalties of blacks to cover for its own abysmal failures in terms of service delivery and its appalling corruption.  As this article makes plain, very little works nowadays in South Africa.  What this means, in practice, is that middle class families have to rely on private enterprise to provide almost all the services that ordinarily a government would administer: roads, schools, police protection, you name it.  That's what happens when merit ceases to be a consideration in the appointment of public officials...and when people feel entitled, based on their ethnic origins, to be hired and promoted.  Meanwhile, a depressingly large percentage of the South African population no longer works for wages, but it stridently demands free higher education, free health care, and the extirpation of all cultural traces of the country's former white rulers.  It's an ugly scene, all in all.  It's a picture of a country that, for all its racism and injustice, used to function well, administratively, economically, educationally, and otherwise.  If there's one thing we've learned about leftist, "anti-racist" rule, though, it's that it regularly produces grave dysfunction in governance, crime, disorder, animosity, corruption, and despair.  If we're not careful, the same cycle can and will be repeated here.  In a number of our biggest, bluest cities, it already has.

Speaking of driving America into the ground, the Dems, with a little help from some RINOs, passed their precious infrastructure bill.  That's another $1 trillion down the drain.  Now, the progressives in the House have been saying for ages that they wouldn't vote for the infrastructure bill until the even pricier reconciliation/social spending bill had also passed.  Well, it hasn't, but they did anyway.  Even if the reconciliation bill someday passes the House, moreover, its fate in the Senate is anything but assured.  Seems like the progressives backed down, therefore.  Maybe this signals that they feel responsible for the Dems' poor performance in the 2021 elections?  Maybe they think they owe Sleepy Joe a "win", even if it's a hollow one?  Hard to say, but things are percolating on Capitol Hill.  Let's hope that Manchin and Sinema keep fighting to make the reconciliation bill as toothless as humanly possible -- or, even better, that they and the Dems manage to screw it up altogether and the blasted bill is never heard from again.

Biden's numbers continue to get worse, and Biden's loss is, potentially at least, Trump's gain.

The pandemic is, at least for now, once again in retreat, and new and better treatments hold out hope that the disease can be wrestled into submission, at long last.  The Dems better hope so!  In the meantime, however, Aaron Rogers, the Green Bay Packers quarterback, has become the latest villainous "anti-vaxxer" to attract the ire of COVID enthusiasts.  I, for one, wish Rogers all the best, except on the football field, where I'd just as soon he lost big.

The Joe Manchin Variety Hour

Friends, the only name that's on everyone's lips as often as Glenn Youngkin's these days is...Joe Manchin's.  He's the man of the hour.  Almost singlehandedly he's holding up the Dems' cherished spending spree, and sending his fellow Democrats into fits of mutual recrimination.  It's delightful to watch.  Good ole Joe is in the news again.  First, as a victim of more harassment from far leftists, in this case "climate" activists.  Ready to admit the truth, Joe?  The Left HATES YOU!  It's time to jump ship.  In the second story, you'll see Manchin laying down some harsh truths about fiscal overreach.  As he points out, in the blink of an eye we've spent more allegedly battling COVID than we did fighting Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.  And now the Dems want to up the ante?  Come on, man!  Lastly, you'll see Joe standing up to CNN and pointing out that this just isn't a left-wing country.  If anything, in fact, he says it leans to the right.  That's not an easy thing to measure, but Joe is certainly correct that Americans didn't elect Joe Biden and a Democratic House and Senate because they love socialism and wokeness.  They did it because they were persuaded that Trump=Beelzebub.  They expected the Dems to restore a sense of normalcy.  How's that turning out?

In other news, recent developments suggest that John Durham is intensifying his efforts to get to the bottom of the Trump-Russia hoax, and it's looking more and more like a Dem con job.  No surprise there, but the question is whether any big fish will be caught in the net...

Here's an interesting analysis of the 2021 elections by a lefty.  He essentially says that the Dems underperformed because their base wasn't "angry" enough.  He has a point.  Trump-hatred was the rocket fuel that powered the ascent of Democrats from 2017 to 2020.  Now that fuel source has been mostly cut off.  They're trying to tap into a new reservoir of anger by harping on white supremacy (that again?), January 6th, and COVID fears, but it remains to be seen if any of those dogs will hunt.

How screwed are we at the border?  Pretty darn screwed!  The numbers of border-hoppers being released into the interior of the country rise ever higher.  This article gives you some perspective on the crisis, which the media is still trying to ignore.

File this one under "Yay for Florida!".  For the first time EVER in the state's history, Republicans now outnumber Democrats.  Remember, Florida was a Southern state, so until the 1960s Republicans were virtually unknown there.  Then, desegregation, the Vietnam War, and the rise of social liberalism gave Floridians a swift kick in the political posterior, which in turn made many of them into Republicans, or at least Blue Dog Dems.  Slowly but surely, the state's shift to the right is coming to fruition.  Long may it last!  The participation of Hispanic immigrants in this phenomenon is especially heartening.

Finally, U.S. trade deficits are setting new records.  Seems like they do that almost every month!  You ought to be a little anxious about this, because our high standard of living in America is undergirded by the fact that foreign countries, like China, are willing to send us all kinds of goodies in exchange for nothing more than little pieces of paper with George Washington's portrait on them.  Decent of them, no?  The whole arrangement relies, however, on the world's perception that the U.S. dollar is worth what we say it is.  And that perception, in turn, relies on the "good faith and credit" of the U.S. Treasury, which means, among other things, it relies on our ability to live within our means.  As our profligacy explodes, therefore, expect the integrity of the dollar, and its exchange value, to falter.  In other words, enjoy those flatscreen TVs and iPhones while you can, because they might not be affordable forever.

Dems on the Run

Friends, you won't want to miss this week's Newsmaker Show with me and Brian O'Neil.  We break down the results of the key 2021 elections, including the GOP's incredible success in running the table in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  We also discuss the implications for 2022, and the role that Trump -- and the specter of Trump -- are likely to play going forward.  Brian and I also talk about the state of New York politics in the shadow of the 2021 returns.  It now looks like Kathy Hochul will face a stiff challenge from Letitia James, Bill DeBlasio, and...many more?  That gives Republicans a narrow opening to capture the Governorship of the Empire State in 2022.

When Brian and I turn to history, we hash over the failure of the Hungarian Uprising in 1956 and how it exposed Soviet domination in Eastern Europe as a nakedly coercive enterprise, the 2016 Paris Agreement on climate change and how its legacy of empty posturing lives on in Glasgow, the curious fact that leftist race-baiting only increased in the wake of the election of Barack Obama as our first black president, and the significance of the Iran hostage crisis in U.S. foreign relations.

Wow!  It's topical, it's scintillating, it's informative -- it's Waddy!

In other news, revel in the fact that New Yorkers -- as blue as blue can be -- rejected three ballot proposals that were designed to make voting/cheating easier.  Wow!  I guess Americans' hunger for "voting rights" isn't what the Democrats thought!

Election Day, 2021!

Friends, as you know, Election 2021's marquee matchup is the Governor's race in Virginia.  Glenn Youngkin, the Republican, has taken a narrow lead in recent polls -- and polls tend to lean left, so a small lead could generate a solid win.  That's what we're hoping for...and a sweep of the House of Delegates, the Lieutenant Governorship, and the Attorney General's office as well.  Fingers crossed!  The chances of repeating such a performance in New Jersey look slim, but you never know.  As you'll see here, Biden's waning popularity is lifting all Republicans, by default, so there's hope!

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/11/01/analysis-joe-bidens-net-approvals-tank-in-battleground-states/

In other news, Dems and progressives are bummed that Terry McAuliffe in Virginia hasn't managed to make the Governor's race there all about Trump.  They assume, naturally, that most people hate Trump, so if voters connect Republicans with Trump, the GOP is doomed.  Well...if that's true, then why did they have to game the system so much in 2020 just to squeak out a narrow win?  Their assumption that Trump's role in the 2022 election could prove damaging to Republicans isn't totally out in left field, however.  No one knows how the "Trump Factor" will play out...

Senator Joe Manchin (D - West Virginia) is still giving his fellow Democrats grief, and one is even calling him a racist and a sexist!  Get used to it, Joe.  Your lot doesn't tolerate original thought.  Want to be respected for your point of view?  Join a "big tent" party like the GOP.  Most of your fellow West Virginians already have.  They're on to something!

The climate confab in Glasgow is going SUPER, as I'm sure you've heard.  One problem: world leaders and expert climate nags are generating a lot of hot air, not to mention carbon emissions via their private jets.  Do as we say, though, not as we do -- that's the motto of the global elite.

Great news!  Senator Rick Santorum is joining the Newsmax team.  You might recall that he was unceremoniously let go by CNN for having the temerity to speak the truth about Native American influence on American culture: it's minimal.  Native Americans, of course, complain about the marginalization of their people all the time, which is to say they make exactly the same claim that Santorum did, but they use more elegant, PC language, and that makes all the difference.  Anyway, Santorum should be a lot happier working for an organization that doesn't believe in canceling everything that moves.

Finally, score another one for the great state of Florida: Rumble is moving its U.S. headquarters to Sarasota, a lovely city, by the way.  The great migration, from blue tyranny and impoverishment to red freedom and prosperity, continues.  Long may it last!
