Listening In to Nixon

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show with me and Brian O'Neil is a humdinger!  We cover the controversy over the President's Baltimore tweets, the constant refrain on the Left that Trump and Republicans are "racist," the state of the Democratic primary race, and prospects for Brexit now that Boris Johnson is at the helm.  Historically, we cover the importance of the introduction of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965, generational politics on the Left, and the complex historical legacy of Presidents Kennedy and Nixon, including Nixon's culpability in the Watergate Scandal and the wisdom (or lack thereof) of his taping system in the Oval Office.  Don't miss it!

Law and Order: Will 2020 Look A Lot Like 1968?

Friends, the columns of Pat Buchanan are always thoughtful and prescient.  In his latest op-ed, Buchanan asks whether Trump's seemingly provocative tweets about Baltimore are designed to position him as the "law and order" candidate in 2020.  It's an intriguing question.  Democrats are now in the position of defending the livability of Baltimore, one of the most dangerous cities in America.  Why?  Because Trump insulted Baltimore, and therefore any suggestion that the city is less than delightful is, by definition, "racist."

But, as Buchanan notes, something bigger is going on here.  Crime is spiking in a number of inner cities.  Why?  A major factor is the Democrats' vehement hostility towards law enforcement and prisons.  They are now pushing a soft-on-crime agenda that, not surprisingly, reliably leads to more crime.

For Buchanan, the comparison to the late 60s, when crime and unrest was mushrooming, is natural.  As he points out, Ronald Reagan was twice elected Governor of California as the "law and order" candidate.  Richard Nixon was elected President in 1968 partly by promising to restore safety and order to America's cities.  The "law and order" agenda was immensely popular in America from the late 60s until the 1990s, when tough law enforcement tactics and mass incarceration finally succeeded in turning the tide against the criminals, and crime rates and violence began to abate.

Slowly, though, Americans became complacent, and Democrats became positively brazen -- once again undercutting law enforcement and making excuses for criminals.  We're seeing the first fruits of their weakness on crime now, in places like Chicago and Baltimore.  We will, however, be seeing much more mayhem in the years ahead, because "progressive" Democrats are tying the hands of police and emptying out the prisons on an industrial scale.  Americans are about to experience a crime wave, the scale of which we can only guess at.  To be sure, the media will do its best to pretend that this crime wave doesn't exist.  It's only a matter of time, however, before Americans become anxious and afraid.

The interesting political question is: will all this happen in time to be a major factor in the 2020 election?  That's hard to say.  But one thing is certain: American voters have always preferred candidates who take the side of the police, and they rightly disdain candidates who take the side of criminals.  In this regard, Trump is on the right side of history.

Ironically, Trump may also have hit on one of the best ways to increase his share of the black vote.  Blacks, after all, want and need "public safety" just as much as whites.  It is Trump and Republicans who are promising a return to "law and order".  For many urban Americans, that will be music to their ears.  For Trump, it may even be the key to his re-election.

It's Always About Race With These Democrats...

Friends, I'm back from my European vacation, and I'm ready once again to do battle with all America-hating leftists!  Bring it, Bolshies!

Now, you would think that a President who comes to the defense of federal law enforcement professionals who are smeared by an irresponsible Congressman would be praised for doing his duty, right? Well, no, the media and the Democrats instead have fallen back on the usual tired accusations of "racism", claiming that Congressman Elijah Cummings, as a Civil Rights icon, is beyond reproach. Moreover, they say that any suggestion that his district is dysfunctional, despite or because of his leadership, is "racist."  Well, all this is par for the course, and there will be plenty more of it before Nov. 2020.  Of that we can be sure.

What I would like to suggest, however, is that those who live by the (racist) sword can also die by it. The Democratic Party is full of people who reflexively believe that Republicans are racist, and they will reflexively (and largely ineffectively) accuse us of racism. So be it. The problem for the Left is that it is increasingly bedeviled by racism allegations itself. Leftists, jockeying for position within the movement, running for office, or just trying to set the liberal agenda, are increasingly using thinly-veiled and poorly-documented charges of racism against one another. Most recently and most famously, Kamala Harris implicitly accused former Vice-President Joe Biden of making common cause with racists in the last Democratic presidential debate. Biden was bewildered, as liberals often are when irresponsible charges of bias are leveled against them. They consider themselves above suspicion, naturally. I tell you, friends, the Left is addicted to a victimhood culture and to making unlimited and invariably false charges of bigotry. The potential for mischief that this affliction can cause within the liberal movement is vast.  We will undoubtedly see the disease manifest itself in the debates on Tuesday and Wednesday, and there's no telling how many Democratic candidates for President will be felled by racism or sexism allegations by the time the race has been run. None of this will enhance the credibility of the Democratic Party and its eventual candidate for President, needless to say, and none of it will make their constant assaults on President Trump for his "racism" any more compelling either. With any luck, in 2019 and 2020, we are seeing the last gasp of the Left's race-baiting politics. But, in the meantime, folks, it will get worse before it gets better. You've been warned!

Check out this article, which proves my point that the Left is eating its own:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/29/cheri-bustos-democrats-diversity-1438867

And, speaking of race, the Democrats continue to listen to the siren song of reparations.  If we're lucky, this will be a big issue in 2020, because if it is it will be an electoral disaster for Democrats!

A Fond Farewell to Robert Mueller

Poor Bob Mueller.  He's looking awfully haggard these days.  Who can blame him?  Half the country was counting on him to undo the 2016 election, and he failed them.  The other half of the country expected him to undo the election, and despised him for it.  In the end, we can say that, to a point, Mueller acted like a true professional.  Despite immense pressure to do so, he didn't conjure a case for impeachment out of thin air.  No doubt many of the people on his staff wanted to.  On the other hand, he pursued Trump and his associates adversarially, and he never showed the slightest interest in investigating the Clinton camp's "collusion" with Russia agents via Christopher Steele.  Kind of a big oversight!  Be that as it may, Mueller came and went...and I wish him a happy retirement.  The country can now move on -- although we all know that a hardcore of liberals won't.  They will keep the flame of "Russiagate" and "obstruction" burning a while longer.  More's the pity for them.

In other news, Boris Johnson has achieved his life's ambition: he's Prime Minister of the U.K.  He rises to that lofty position at a particularly challenging time, for Britain and its government.  He's determined to take the U.K. out of the EU on October 31st.  Most of Parliament is determined to stand in his way.  Can these two facts be reconciled?  Can Boris thread the needle and find a way of getting Parliament, the EU, and the British people on the same page?  I sincerely hope so, because the alternative could be a complete political meltdown.  Godspeed, Prime Minister!

The Professor With The Pearl Earring: Stunning, Just Stunning...

Friends, today I have more to share with you than just my ethereal beauty (although surely that ought to be enough!).  Today I published an article with American Greatness that I'm especially proud of.  It's about the media's misrepresentations regarding what is happening at the border and with immigration policy.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Happy Birthday, Belgium!

On behalf of the American people -- and especially this American, who happens to be in Brussels -- I wish the plucky little nation of Belgium a happy birthday on this, its national day!  Belgium, for those of you who don't know it well, took it on the chin in both world wars, falling to Germany, but the Belgians didn't quit.  They persevered, and after their liberation became key members of NATO and the EEC/EU.  Despite the recent deeping of European ties and institutions, the Belgians clearly remain proud of their own patrimony and heritage.  I wish them all the best!

Trump is Making the Moon Great Again

Friends, as the media fixates on its misrepresentations of the President's tweets, the "real America" (I've come to appreciate that phrase) is recalling one of the greatest moments in human history: the first moon landings in July 1969.  We must not rest on our laurels, though, so the Trump administration is pushing ahead with a revitalization of our manned space program, and with a plan to put Americans back on the Moon within five years.  I couldn't be more supportive!  Of course, one assumes that, when the first Orion capsule puts an American in space next year, the media and the Democrats will denounce it as a fascistic stunt.  And the Moon?  Just one more planetoid for Trump to wreck, naturally.  But you and I know better: man's destiny lies in space, and it's America, first and foremost, that will take us there.  Trump and Pence are doing their part.  Bravo!

The Dutch Connection: Dr. Waddy On the Loose

Greetings, friends, from the beautiful Netherlands!  This week's Newsmaker Show includes some reflections on the state of politics in Britain and Holland, and especially on European attitudes to America and President Trump (it ain't pretty!).  The U.S. mainstream media does us a tremendous disservice in informing the rest of the world that Americans are a bunch of racist troglodytes.  Be that as it may, Brian and I also discuss the first explosion of an atomic bomb in 1945, the Apollo moon landing in 1969, the Potsdam Conference, and other historical topics.  In terms of current events, we cover the brouhaha over Trump's tweet regarding "the Squad" and how they should "go back" to where they came from (my guess would be that it's basically toxic academia that spawned that lot).  We also talk about Brexit and Boris Johnson, plus other hot topics.  Don't miss a moment!

"You're a Racist!"...and Other Flights of Fancy

Friends, the incredible flexibility with which the Left uses the terms racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, and xenophobia has been obvious for several decades now, although the bar keeps getting lower and lower, and that's distressing, to say the least.  Now Trump is the victim of leftist smears, based on a recent tweet about AOC and her fellow travelers.  Let's be clear: Trump DID NOT say these Congresswomen "of color" should move back to their "home" countries.  He said that they should go there, learn about these countries' massive flaws, reevaluate their contempt for America, and only proffer advice about how to fix America once they understand its greatness in the proper context.  That's what he was driving at, although even I would admit that he might have made the point more elegantly.  His criticism of the anti-Americanism of some members of Congress, however, is neither racist nor xenophobic -- it's patriotic, and that's why we elected the man in the first place!

And let's not forget that the Left is shot through with both racism AND xenophobia.  Their reflexive vilification of white people is inherently racist, and their three-year-long diatribe against Russia is nothing if not xenophobic.  As always, the Left defines all pejorative concepts in creative ways that categorically eliminate them from consideration.  Don't be fooled!  They think that, by simply repeating their baseless claims over and over, they can get simple people to believe them.  They're right, as far as that goes.  But you and I are not simpletons, and we are NOT fooled!

In other news, here's my latest article, which is an analysis of some recent developments in the (virulently anti-Trump) music industry, and a call for the Trump administration to prevent the formation of an unchecked monopoly therein:

A Profile in Courage: Susan Collins

Friends, it's hard to find anyone in politics who merits the label "hero" or "heroine," but I believe Maine Senator Susan Collins qualifies.  Under intense pressure to reject the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, Collins stood by the basic principle of American justice that a man, or a woman, is innocent until proven guilty.  Kavanaugh was by no means proven guilty, and so Susan Collins gave him the benefit of the doubt.  Imagine the damage we could have done to American justice if she (and Joe Manchin in West Virginia) had not stood up to the vitriolic Kavanaugh-haters...  She deserves credit, and she deserves to win reelection in 2020.  If you're so inclined, please donate to her reelection campaign.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/the-quiet-bravery-of-susan-collins

Also, take a gander at this excellent analysis of the controversy over the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 Census.  Such questions have been a fixture of many censuses, and many federal surveys, and only recently has the Left discovered that asking a simple demographic question is, in fact, "racist" and intimidating.  For some reason, asking a person their race, religion, or gender is fine, but citizenship?  Oh no!  Heaven forbid.  I sincerely hope that the President will succeed in adding a citizenship question to the upcoming Census.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/deroy-murdock-nervous-nancy-census

Finally, check out this good news about apprehensions at the border.  Mexico's actions seem to be bearing fruit.  We shouldn't become complacent, though.  We still need to build the Wall, and we need to keep maximum pressure on Mexico's government.  They can and will backslide, if we let them.  That's one more reason to reelect President Trump.  A Democratic President would undoubtedly let the border spiral totally out of control.  Donald Trump is our only protection from that miserable fate.

The Decline and Fall of Benito Mussolini

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show features Benito Mussolini and his fall from power, triggered by the Allied invasion of Sicily in July 1943.  We also consider the connection between the deaths of Mussolini and Hitler.  In addition, Brian and I hash over the Battle of Britain and the so-called Scopes Monkey Trial.  In terms of current politics, we discuss the Jeffrey Epstein debacle (and any likely collateral damage), the dynamics of the Biden-Harris-Sanders-Warren contest for the Democratic nomination, the life and legacy of Ross Perot, and the prospects for Brexit under soon-to-be P.M. Boris Johnson.  Don't miss it!

Welcome to the Party, Tom Steyer!

Friends, today I was really excited to learn that billionaire wingnut Tom Steyer may be throwing his hat in the ring for the Democratic presidential nomination.  Steyer is obsessed with climate change, but he's even more obsessed with impeaching Trump for, you know, all those bad things that Trump did.  Steyer is relentless, and he's spent tens of millions of dollars trying to organize support for impeachment.  Why would this please me?  Because impeachment is a losing issue for Democrats.  There's a reason that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are running as far away from the issue as they can get.  There's a reason why the media and the Dems never raised the issue in the recent debates.  Impeachment will surely fail, but it's worse than that -- impeachment has the potential to tear the Democratic Party apart.  Having an impeachment true believer on stage at the next Democratic debate, therefore, would be a gift of incalculable value to President Trump and the Republican Party.  So, I say, join the party, Tom!  The water's nice and warm.  Dive on in

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tom-steyer-billionaire-activist-may-join-democratic-presidential-race-after-all/

In other news, your right-wing hero, Dr. Waddy, will be heading to Europe this week, so I regret that my posts may grow somewhat spotty.  Think of it as a fact-finding mission.  "Fun" is the main fact I intend to find, but I also expect to confirm that the USA is the greatest country on Earth, and socialism stinks!  I'll share my impressions throughout the trip, and I will share some photos with you as well.  I'll be hitting Britain, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue!

Friends, not since America's bicentennial in 1976 have we paid so much attention to our original, "Betsy Ross" flag.  Not so long ago the flag was uncontroversial.  Barack Obama flew it at his 2013 inauguration.  The Left has taken a definite leftward turn since then, however, and as a result things which were patriotic five minutes ago are now beyond the pale.  Get used to it, because the liberals have so much more in store for us...  Of course, they may not have counted on the pushback they're now getting.  My latest article is about the foolishness of disrespecting the Betsy Ross flag -- and the pressing need for Americans to rally around it, and around America itself.

Americans Should Fly the Betsy Ross Flag With Pride

Americans were rightly bewildered to learn recently that, in the eyes of Colin Kaepernick and the Nike Corporation, the “Betsy Ross flag” that flew over the young United States in the late 18th century is a supposedly troubling and racist symbol. Kaepernick observed that the flag flew in an “era of slavery,” and that was all the prodding Nike needed to scrap the planned release of patriotic sneakers emblazoned with the offensive flag.

Social media has been in an uproar ever since, and with good reason.

Since our nation was born in 1776, dozens of flags have flown over it. Almost all have incorporated the horizontal red and white stripes that were first observed in the “Grand Union Flag” that in turn borrowed them from the flag of the (British) East India Company. The Betsy Ross flag added the dark blue field in the upper-left and the “new constellation” of 13 stars. Every American flag since then has been an elaboration of this original design.

Contrary to myth, there is little evidence that Betsy Ross, a Philadelphia upholsterer, contributed much to the design of the flag that now bears her name, although she may have suggested the five-pointed star instead of the six-pointed star in order to save herself some bother. Not exactly a profile in hyper-patriotism, but none of this prevented the Betsy Ross story, which posited George Washington and Mrs. Ross designing the flag together, from becoming national lore after our centennial celebrations in 1876. The country needed its heroes and heroines, and Betsy Ross fit the bill. It is an irony of Nike's current denigration of the flag that the practical effect of their historical revisionism is to erase one of America's first (and, for many years, one of its only) heroines from public memory.

The point of displaying the Betsy Ross flag, though, has never been to celebrate Betsy Ross, but to celebrate America in her formative years. The young republic, called The United States of America (and spoken of mostly in the plural until the Civil War) was a bold experiment in liberty and constitutionalism in an era of monarchical tyranny. It heralded the rise of a more individualistic and humane political philosophy that would make possible startling and unprecedented improvements in human welfare. Thus, the symbols of early America seem, on the face of it, something to celebrate rather than bemoan.

The late 18th century was an “era of slavery,” yes, but that was true throughout the world. Not a single country had abolished slavery, and few were inclined even to take the concept of abolition seriously. That is an indictment of America, but it is more accurately an indictment of humanity, which made copious use of slaves from ancient times until the mid-19th century.

If, therefore, the Betsy Ross flag is tainted by slavery, it is no more tainted than every symbol in wide use before the modern age, from the Christian cross to the Roman eagle to China's Yin and Yang. Should all these symbols be banned from modern apparel, and declared permanently offensive, because the people who used them also, in some cases, owned slaves? That would be absurd.

While many Americans may have limited appreciation for the Betsy Ross flag, which is seldom flown today, they ought to understand that the ultimate motivation for Colin Kaepernick and his fellow travelers on the far left is not the denigration of American history, but of America itself. This country, which was born to renew and expand human freedom, is, to the Left, instead a dark, sinister place of almost unparalleled wickedness and cruelty (unparalleled because liberals refuse to acknowledge wickedness and cruelty when it is practiced by people they like). The erasure of the symbols of America's past presages, for Kaepernick and his ilk, the obliteration of everything that America was and is, to be replaced by the newfangled values of political correctness, “wokeness,” and enforced equality.

It is, in fact, only a matter of time before even the current American flag must be permanently furled, and replaced with a new standard that more accurately represents the Marxist utopia that the Left has in store for us. We will be lucky if even so much as the red, white, and blue theme of the current flag survives, amid an explosion of new symbolism and imagery that will represent the countless ethnicities, genders, and other officially approved identities that will be mandatory elements of the New Flag of New America (also known as North Mexico).

Make no mistake: those who seek to erase the Betsy Ross Flag, the first flag of the United States of America, are really trying to erase America itself. They are succeeding, frankly, beyond the wildest dreams and most fevered nightmares of the Founding Fathers, who understood the fragility of their magnificent creation. Anti-Americanism has taken deep root in America, and we must, no matter the cost, turn the tide against it.

The easiest and best first step?

Fly the Betsy Ross flag. Fly it on your front porch. Fly it at your local school. Fly it over the White House lawn, if you happen to be the President.

Fly it everywhere liberals might see it, so they will know that America is here to stay!

Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em, America!

Friends, it wasn't so long ago that everyone smoked.  It always amuses me to read about WWII, when harsh rationing was the order of the day, and millions of people starved to death, but no country on earth felt bold enough to end the production of cigarettes.  Priorities, right?

Check out this story about Netflix's efforts to drive smoking out of popular entertainment.  I don't care for it.  Don't get me wrong -- I've never smoked, and I don't encourage anyone to do so.  But isn't this a free country?  Isn't it up to the individual to "pick his poison," as it were?  And, as this article suggests, isn't it absurdly hypocritical to ban one vice while we laud others, like pot-smoking, alcohol abuse, and promiscuity?  The upshot is, of course, that Netflix feels entitled to decide for us which vices are truly nasty.  I say...I'd rather decide for myself.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/paul-batura-netflix-bans-smoking-but-what-about-other-vices

You might also wish to read this article about what a Boris Johnson premiership may portend for Brexit.  I agree that it won't be smooth sailing, but I still think Boris can get the job done.

Great Minds Think Alike

Friends, ever since Patrick J. Buchanan challenged George H.W. Bush for the Republican presidential nomination in 1992, I've been an admirer of his.  He ran again in 1996.  Throughout his career he's been an unapologetic voice for nationalist conservatism.  He cut his political teeth in the Nixon White House and served Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan admirably as an advisor.  He's written countless articles and books, focusing especially on issues of foreign intervention (which he generally opposes) and immigration (of which he's generally skeptical).  He celebrates and defends Western Civilization.  He is, in short, a great American, and while for years he was, in truth, a voice crying out in the wilderness, in the Age of Trump he seems more like a prophet and a sage.

Imagine my pleasure, therefore, upon reading this article by Pat Buchanan, which repeats many of the themes you've seen in this blog over the last few days:

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2019/07/05/trumps_patriotism_vs_the_new_anti-americanism_140719.html

Remember, Buchanan lived through the turbulent Vietnam War and Watergate years, when many American leftists competed with each other to show disrespect to America and its symbols.  Is history repeating itself?  Will the anti-Americanism of the Left smooth the path for a long-term Republican, conservative resurgence?  We shall see.

In other news, I continue to applaud the decision of the Trump administration to redouble its efforts to include a citizenship question on the 2020 Census.  The Supreme Court DID NOT invalidate the idea of adding such a question -- it merely invited the administration to revise its rationale.  The question is perfectly reasonable, needless to say, and it ought to be asked, so that future redistricting efforts can be based on eligible voters or, better yet, actual voters.  Why are the Democrats so afraid of "one man, one vote"?  Because they don't much care for the American electorate in the first place.  That's why they're desperately trying to import a new electorate.  It's victory at any price for the Dems.  Let's not allow them to hold the Census hostage to their whims.

http://www.rollcall.com/news/whitehouse/doj-trump-push-ahead-fight-census-citizenship-question

And kudos to Italy's Interior Minister Matteo Salvini for taking a hard line against illegal immigrants and the "aid workers" who enable them.  Italy is facing a migration challenge not unlike our own at the southern border.  Italy is also starting to figure out that, if you give migrants what they want (the ability to live in Europe), they will only come in larger numbers!  On the right we call this "common sense."

A Salute to America, A Salute to Trump

Friends, you simply can't miss Trump's "Salute to America" this July 4th.  It reminded me a lot of Trump's State of the Union speeches -- crowd-pleasing, patriotic, and apolitical.  I don't know how big the audience was, but I'm sure the President did himself, and America, no harm on this Independence Day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mieu57c0Fc0

Not to rain on Trump's parade, but it's worth remembering that patriotism has never been a more partisan virtue than it is today.  The Left is abandoning America, because of our mortal sin of electing Donald Trump.  Let's hope they come to their senses someday.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/thanks-to-democrats-american-pride-hits-historic-low-ahead-of-july-4-holiday-new-poll-finds-2019-07-03?siteid=yhoof2&yptr=yahoo

Lastly, let's not lose sight of the fact that even the ideas and symbols that have traditionally bound us together as a people are under sustained attack from liberals.  Charlottesville, Virginia, you may recall, turned its back on one great American -- Robert E. Lee -- and now they're throwing Thomas Jefferson under the bus as well.  Very sad.  Note that Jefferson thought his greatest accomplishment in life was not being President of the United States -- it was the foundation of the University of Virginia (in Charlottesville).  For that city to dishonor the legacy of such a great American, therefore, is a depressing sign of just how low the Left has sunk.

https://www.whsv.com/content/news/Charlottesville-City-Council-votes-to-remove-Thomas-Jefferson-holiday-512111421.html

And yet, as the President said, America is stronger than ever, and we shall overcome the latest wave of anti-Americanism.  We've done it before, and we'll do it again!

God Bless America!

Some Democrats Think Your Money Belongs To Them -- Kamala Harris Thinks Your KIDS Belong to Her

Friends, one of the few issues that united almost all Americans in the 1970s -- a turbulent and divisive decade -- was forced busing.  Virtually no one liked the idea of transporting schoolchildren over long distances to ensure that every school was racially mixed.  President Nixon won reelection partly by condemning busing.  California Governor Ronald Reagan was against busing.  And so was Delaware Senator Joe Biden.  This became an issue in the recent Democratic presidential debate, when Kamala Harris went after Biden because of his past opposition to busing.  Harris's attack was apparently successful in a political sense -- she has revived her struggling campaign and damaged that of Joe Biden -- but in a substantive sense Harris is barking up the wrong tree.  Busing was always a bad idea, and there were, and are, plenty of legitimate reasons to oppose it.  This is the subject of my latest article.  See what you make of it.

George Washington: The Father of America

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show is a July 4th special.  Brian and I consider the historical legacy of our first President, as well as the integration of baseball, the Battle of Gettysburg, and rationing in wartime Britain.  In terms of current events, we cover the controversy over "concentration camps" along our southern border, our renewed effort to negotiate with North Korea, and the state of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination after the first debates.  Don't miss a single second!!!

America the Ugly?

Friends, the anti-American prejudices of the Left sometimes reach levels that defy belief.  Check out this article about a shoe torpedoed by Nike because their golden boy, Colin Kaepernick, couldn't abide the original flag of the United States.  Betsy Ross and the Stars and Stripes thus become the latest casualties in the Left's war against patriotism.  Incredible!

This is an interesting development: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is withdrawing tax incentives for Nike, in response to the company's America-bashing.  Rarely do you see a state or locality sacrifice jobs and potential economic growth opportunities on principle, but that's exactly what's happening here.

Cory Booker is the Reparations Boogeyman...and He's Coming for YOU!!!

Friends, I can't even count the number of ways that paying reparations to the descendants of slaves in America, or to anyone in America, would be monstrously unwise.  The Democrats seem determined to make reparations a major issue in the 2020 campaign, though, along with all their other pie-in-the-sky proposals to shower everyone (but rich fat cats) with federal largesse.  The Democrats go into 2020 with many advantages, including an utterly compliant media, but they seem determined to blow it.  Open borders and reparations could be the twin keys to their undoing.

Here's a great analysis of the stupidity of reparations that comes from the Left.  See what you make of it.
