The Beginning of the End?

Friends, if you read the tea leaves, and I know you do, there are some signs that the medical and scientific establishment, which is naturally closely connected to the political, cultural, and economic establishment, is preparing to mount a strategic retreat from COVID hysteria.  Not only is the omicron variant milder and seemingly in retreat, but there's a growing realization that the powers-that-be have milked the pandemic for all it has to offer them, in terms of power, wealth, and moral suasion.  Resistance to pandemic mitigation measures, in other words, is getting stronger by the day, and no longer can "our betters" depend on our coronavirus anxieties to keep us in line.  What does that mean, in practical terms?  It means that it might be time -- high time, some would say -- for the global elite to declare victory over COVID-19, and to allow all of us to get on with our lives.  This does not mean, of course, that they will give up trying to manipulate and control us.  It just means that their methodology will change.  I, for one, look forward with bated breath to the next chapter in the establishment's ceaseless campaign of subterfuge and coercion.  I also quite look forward to shedding my mask, filing away my vaccination card, and taking a bite out of life!  Will the know-it-alls who've been hounding us about social distancing, masking, vaccination, and the like claim credit for our (entirely accidental) victory over the coronavirus?  Probably.  That's to be expected.  They always claim credit, and they never admit fault.  The important thing, though, is that, at least for a while, a few of our liberties will be returned to us.  What a treat!

In other news, Sarah Palin's libel lawsuit against the New York Times is going to trial.  I wish her all the best!  Legal pressure on the MSM may be one of our only hopes of ever compelling them to desist from bald-faced lying, since it's a sure bet that their moral and professional "standards", such as they are, won't help us much.

Poor Kyrsten Sinema has been formally censured by Arizona Democrats.  This won't come as a surprise to her.  Presumably she's playing the long game, assuming that, by the time she runs for reelection in 2024, lefties will have forgotten all about these so-called "voting rights bills" and will care about only one thing: defeating the Republican candidate for president.  In that assumption, she may well be proven right.

Good ole Devin Nunes is spoiling for a fight with Big Tech over the future of free speech online.  Well, so am I, and so are you, I'd wager.  It's a little unclear when exactly Trump's social media platform will launch in earnest, but, as Nunes says, it's more important to get it right than it is to get it done fast.  We need a genuine alternative to the digital dictatorship of Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Bill Gates, Mike Bloomberg, and their ilk.  Let's hope Trump can make it happen.

  1. If Trump's social media platform doesn't get launched at all, then we are blued, screwed and tattooed, whipped stripped and double dipped, reamed, steamed and dry cleaned.

  2. Dr Waddy frm Jack: Once again yours is a well taken observation of very plausible phenomenom, a retreat from Covid policy dictation. . It may be indicative of an even more significant development. Perhaps the real world has finally caught on to the far left's VERY convinced totalitarian intentions! Its obvious the left looked on the pandemic as a serendipitous, shining opportunity for dress rehearsal for unfettered, arbitrary sway. Why ,Prince Cuomo's glee was open and unapologetic. If a tactical withdrawal on the part of the Covid KGB is at hand, it may be because the far left foresees a natural decline in the incidence of the disease and will want to claim credit both for the decline and their noble resraint! But they may have already gone too far!

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Perhaps a potentially decisive buildup of disgust with far leftist overreach is manifesting itself. Its apparent in the US, where those who voted Biden in thinking him a common sense "moderate" have discovered that they seated a far leftist shill! Perhaps a wave of perceptive realization of far leftist deception is nigh."Why maybe these right wing kooks HAVE been right all along. Whenever these lefties get any power they go after everything we value: our history and its heroes, our economy, private property and rights, our historically credited Constitution, our laws and their enforcement, our religions (excepting Islam, the destructive faction of which they celebrate) , our kids and their education and our very parental essentials, our miraculous and redeeming material prosperity, our cultural standards on gun ownership, the sanctity of the fetus and the obvious differences between male and female humans ( a contrast overwhelmingly proven in nature)and, most importantly, the insolence of the real world in doubting them and insisting on personal, not collective, freedom and attendant responsibility. We saw its heartfelt rejection in almost all countries cursed by their thankfully temporary bizarre sway in the 20th century. "Enough is too much!!"

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: In the UK, historically a pace setter in enlightened and humane governance and exemplary in this in the wide reaches of the world touched by its influence, even by its products (eg. the US in Japan, Puerto Rico and the Philippines), has manifested much adversity to the presumptuousness of the far left: eg. MARGARATE THATCHER - may her statue be exalted in Parliament Square someday - eg Tony Blair's grudging tack to the relative center, eg. the apparent continuing of the Brit public's disdain for Labor's unbalanced leaders.

  6. Dr. Waddy from Jack : May I be as presumptuous as to comment on the Ukraine situation. PINO Biden now proposes dispatch of 5000 American troops to bolster the defenses of countries already in Nato. OK, ok as far as that goes but a crossing into Ukraine cannot but mean war. Russia would, without reservation, engage Nato in Ukraine, whether or not it had previously invaded Ukraine. And as the Nato forces would of necessity have supply bases in Nato countries on Russia's BORDER (!) eg. Poland (note recent admission of Russian forces to Belarus, confronting both Ukraine and Nato countries) it is possible, even probable, that a Nato-Russia war in Ukraine would spread westward into Nato countries and THEN WHAT? Nato must NOT enter Ukraine in force no matter how well reinforced by America! Our supply of weapons to Ukraine now really pushes Russia's limits. Russia's patience is being sorely taxed and unwisely so by PINO Bush. Stay out of Ukraine! Understand its vital importance to Russia! Man the present Nato barricades, despite Putin's probably diplomatically tactical proposal we retreat. Ukraine is what matters! Do not push Russia on this: the security of the West is not at stake unless we unwisely prod the Bear!

  8. Ray, I tend to agree that obtaining a conservative toehold in the world of social media is an existential necessity for the right. We've been shut out of so many other domains...

Has the electorate caught on to the Left's totalitarian schemes? I'll believe it when I see it. The populace keeps clamoring for more free stuff courtesy of Uncle Sam. I see little sign of a true awakening. The turn to the right feels temporary and reactive to me, not ideological.

I have little fear that Biden will send troops into Ukraine. As I opined on this week's Newsmaker Show, the dispatch of troops to Eastern Europe feels like a rearguard action -- a way of reducing the political fallout from what Biden may see as the now inevitable Russian takeover of Ukraine. "See, I'm not a TOTAL weanie!"
