Reading Japan the Riot Act

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show is another humdinger!  Brian and I cover all our bases in terms of breaking news: we talk about the universal vaccine mandate in New York City, the curious fate of the Brothers Cuomo, the legacy of Bob Dole, the red hot race for Governor of Georgia, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the potential for war between Russia and the West over Ukraine.  My my!

Then, when we turn to This Day in History, we cover the groundbreaking INF Treaty between Reagan and Gorbachev in 1987, the U.S. declaration of war against Japan in 1941, and the announcement of Nixon's policy of "Vietnamization" in 1969.  It's a veritable cornucopia of 20th century historical analysis!

Care to tune in?  Of course you do!

In other news, how intolerant are young leftists?  Mighty intolerant!  Check it out:

Have you heard about that unfortunate "parade crash" in Waukesha?  Maybe not...because, if it doesn't serve the Left's agenda, it might as well have never happened in the first place.

Finally, Apple's "all in" with communist China.  And no one should be the least bit surprised.

  1. Dr.Waddy from Jack: So very much in the broadcast: Revenge killings in Afghanistan; in my opinion, inevitable. Its one of the most primitive and atavistic of all societies. Your comparison of it to the commie ideologically motivated outrages in Vietnam is creditable but I would respectfully add a racial component. The victorious N.Vietnamese also carried out an enthusiastic cleansing of the ethnic Chinese dominated Cholon section of Saigon, which drove many Chinese into the sea. Of course, resentment throughout SE Asia to the 19th century Chinese diaspora, which placed among them many entreprenurially superior Chinese. How faithful the victorious commies proved in savaging proven capitalists, coveniently condemned also by their ethnicity. Marx would have had no problem with that!

  2. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Had feckless Perot not have run, Dole might have won and ended the shameful tenure of the Clintons. Trump is very much credited by Dole's support. Let it motivate us to stand behind him as the proven defender of the values of the real America!

  3. Dr.Waddy from Jack:You are right. Reagan's skill in dealing with the Soviets contradicted their expressed view of him as a dunce.

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: NYC Mayor DeBlasio's vaccination command is, yes, revolutionary and is so to be expected from a Marxist. This guy wants to govern us?!

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Cuomo's "moderateness" would have been summarily discarded had he achieved the Presidency. His brother exemplifies the completely compromised MSM. Their sanctimonious, loftily scornful father no doubt motivated in them an ineluctable arrogance. How fortunate we are that they are absented from our public life, perhaps no matter the cause.

  6. Dr.Waddy from Jack: I am gratified by your observation that it would be most unwise of Nato to cross the "red line" into Ukrainian membership in Nato. I am encouraged by your conviction that it is very unlikely. The defense of Western Europe does not require it and such a terrible risk is unjustified thereby.

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: In my comment above on Reagan I meant the MSM viewed him as a dunce. Why of course they did!

  8. Jack, I presume there may be ethnic dimensions to the bloodletting in Afghanistan too? If there is or are, the media surely won't enlighten us.

Jack, Andrew Cuomo's arrogance was legendary, true, but I suspect he simply wore on his sleeve what the vast majority of politicians have always felt in their heart. Biden may have more of an "aww shucks" style, but he seems profoundly self-important to me. And when was the last time you saw any national politician express shame or genuine remorse?

  9. Dr.Waddy from Jack: I am sureyou are right; makes sense that many old ethnic and racial scores are being settled in Afghanistan. Good point; I cannot recall any politician sincerely, for honesty's sake and without being compelled, admitting fault.
