Have a Coke and a...Scowl?

Friends, Coca-Cola ain't what it used to be.  What is?  The iconic American brand has gone full "woke", or so it seems.  On Wednesday, the company bowed to pressure to condemn Georgia's new voting law, perpetuating the myth that it's racially discriminatory and designed to impede Americans from exercising their right to vote.  What's worse, the company remained silent until left-wing calls for a boycott became deafening, making it crystal clear that Coke was bullied.  On the upside, all this mealy-mouthed talk seems exactly that: TALK, backed by no meaningful action.  Still, it's depressing to see this kind of leftist group think infiltrate corporate America.  Truly, the world has gone mad, and the Left is running rampant.

  1. The Left can so easily infiltrate corporate America because Corporate America is, and has been for some time, a stuffed shirt, a hollow vessel. Meanwhile Leftism is a religious movement, which means that it is no great matter for it's animating spirit to possess a hollow body, for there's no existing spirit for it to contend with when it takes up residence.

Fanaticism beats fanaticism, and American Conservatism is tepid and bourgeois, which is to say that it languishes in materialistic moderation, and so presents no path forward against the tides of Leftist religious fury, whose essence is Spiritual and Fanatic. Let loose the Christians, and not the Buddhist's passing for Christians, the "house Christians" paraded onto our televisions to pacify our righteous anger, with all their fatalism and abnegation of life and justice, but those who still proudly wear the mantle of our forbearers who put the Cathars to the sword, who retook Jerusalem, who did not blanch to cry out, "Viva Cristo Rey!" as they charged through a hail of lead to deliver cold steel to Godless Federal Soldiers.

Corporate America is not our friend, and never was.

No doubt you remember that in 1936, the Right in Spain got fed up (an understatement) and launched a three year civil war against the Left, which they won, ensuring that Spain was ruled for at least 35 years by some sane people who had the guts to actually fight Socialists and Communists. One of the few books you will ever find that tells the truth about why The Right in Spain had to launch such a war is explained in "The Last Crusade" by the late Warren H. Carroll. Now, sadly, The Left controls Spain again. And speaking of Spain, I never forget the national hero of Spain (or at least he used to be), who is Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar (Vivar) known as El Cid (died 1099 A.D.) who made large numbers of Muslim fanatics cringe. We need someone like him here, but all we have now is Mitch McConnell. Ha!

    2. Ray,

In the words of Count Charles Forbes RenĂ© de Montalembert, "We are the sons of the Crusaders and we shall not recoil before the sons of Voltaire.”

P.S. Happy Easter to all, Christ is Risen.

  2. Lee, I would agree that corporate America is soulless. It likes profits, and it sees subservience to wokeness as the path of least resistance to those profits. Probably it's right to do so, since as you say "conservatives" and "Christians" are generally too whipped to do anything but acquiesce. The Left is starting to gird itself for an assault on corporate America, however, involving higher taxes, onerous regulations, hard-and-fast quotas, etc. I have to believe that some corporate bigwigs will recoil.

And I sincerely hope it won't take a civil war to beat back the forces of leftism, because, if it does, the triumph of leftism is far more likely!

Happy Easter to you as well!

    1. We are already in a "civil war" with The Left. It is not a traditional shooting war, but it is a new "Cold War" that has come to this country, with The Left using Marxist ideology as usual, but with some more or less new bullshit added on, such as woke and cancel culture. Call it Neo Marxist if you want. Can we say that when the "Iron Curtain" fell in Europe, that the Cold War was transferred to the U.S. and continued here in different forms?

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Surely Franco's victory prevented a comprehensive characteristic Marxist onslaught on the entire population down to the house, apartment and room! Given modern communication and transportation, one can well envision how such an onslaught, surely intended by the American left, would play out!

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Surely corporate America has as its prime objective the preservation of its material well being and that of its investors. To counter the obvious culturally enabled leftist threat to this dynamic, which has been the foundation of American well being, we must best them on the political battlefield on which they now bustle!

  5. Dr.Wwddy et al from Jack: Anonymous: Zounds, your call for Christian resolve comparable to the middle ages has much merit. I would reject the hideous suppression of the Cathars and the possible battlecries of some Union soldiers as being admirable. But Christianity, spiritually redeeming for hundreds of millions, and a refuge for proven traditional values, could well be that, more than anything else, which motivates effective opposition to the existential threat of amoral, sociopathic leftists today. Their steady advance bids us rally to a redeeming banner, just as Europe did in the 16th and 17th centuries in turning the Turks away trom Vienna and free access to the Mediterranean. You are very right urge it!

  6. Dr. Waddy from Jack: My mistake; Anonymous was not referring to Union battle cries. But if a cause could be called Godly, surely it was that ot ending slavery, not that of preserving it.

  7. Ray, I wish, in some ways, we could regard our struggle against the Neo-Marxists as a "civil war", but that would imply that we conservatives have come prepared to FIGHT! Alas, few are so inclined.

Jack, the mind recoils from consideration of what a modern, First World totalitarian regime would look like... The tools at its disposal would be so insidious and sophisticated. On the other hand, I rather suspect that blunt terror wouldn't be required in this day and age. Why use the sword when the pen suffices, right? The genius of our modern totalitarians is that they can give us dissenters plenty of rope with which to hang ourselves, and plenty of freedom with which to rant and rave, because they know that the public won't be moved. Of course, as Trump proved, our overlords are not quite as smart or as omnipotent as they imagined. The lesson they've drawn? Why, assaults on free-thinkers must be intensified and better coordinated, of course!

Does corporate America realize the threat which the Left ultimately poses to it? Clearly not. A field trip to Venezuela is overdue!

Could Christianity motivate resistance to Marxism? Sure. The problem is that modern Christianity has been subverted...by Marxists! The mainline churches are, like the unions, Hollywood, the education system, etc etc., adjuncts of the left-leaning establishment. Moreover, modern Christianity teaches the virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and (selective) tolerance, above all. Thus, the sharp edges of Christian piety have been smoothed away. Of course I'm generalizing here. I know that some American Christians are ready and willing to be happy warriors, but I fear far more are primed to submit to our woke tyrants.

  8. Dr.Wwddy from Jack: There ie within the multitudinous, extensive, United Methodist Church a conflict between a presumptuous, leftist compromised faction anr those who do not believe their faith is so malleable and easily preempted. Being that this is a very extensive denomination, it will be informative to see how it plays out, as it will this year.

  9. Jack, most -- nay, all -- mainline churches are riven by similar controversies. Quite a few have already split because of them. I have to admit, as an Episcopalian, I often feel unwelcome and adrift in my own church.

  10. Dr. Waddy from Jack: The reason I mentioned the United Methodists is because they are a very large denomination and they have a perhaps decisive, perhaps historic general meeting (convocation ?) coming up this year. The conflict between the liberal and conservative wings may be resolved, perhaps in formal schism. Perhaps the U.S. has the same in store as the dictatorial left forces unendurable change with its overwhelming Congressional majority. We are as insects in their ehh, expansive view. We may have to go our separate ways.

  11. Jack, I await the rise of a serious secessionist movement in red states! So far, we seem to be taking our debasement in stride...

  12. Dr. Waddy from Jack: That may be because we recognize the presence in blue states like NY, many of common sense. But we may well ask of them separation (like W.Va in 1861) from insufferably leftist regimes. We must be prepared to protect them from the vengeance of the left: ie through negotiation.

  13. Jack, what an amicable, or semi-amicable, national divorce would look like boggles the mind! Dividing the states would be hard, dividing a state (internally) would be agony. And yet, plenty on both sides would be happy to be rid of the "evildoers"...
