Our Inevitable Fate: Lunar Exile?

Trump needs private space companies to return to the moon. They don't want to go.

Friends, kudos are due to NASA, which finally got its act together and launched its new Artemis rocket and its Orion capsule in the general direction of the moon.  We're told this presages a return of human footprints to that barren moonscape in the next few years -- probably footprints chosen for their exquisite racial diversity and maybe even their gender dysphoria -- followed by the construction of habitats on the moon and a lasting human presence there.  One has to wonder: will we "deplorables" end up exiled to the lunar surface -- a place so lifeless and remote that no wifi signal can reach it?  Don't scoff!  It's either that or turn us into Soylent Green, and most of our bitterest political enemies are vegans, so eating us simply isn't an option.

In other news, here's a great, data-driven analysis of what went wrong and what went right in 2022.

Here is an exceptionally hostile, but occasionally insightful, look at what a Trump v. DeSantis matchup in 2024 could be like.  I agree that Ron DeSantis is no Jeb Bush, but on the other hand I think the hacks at Politico are way too hasty in writing off Trump as "weaker than he's ever been".  I guess they don't believe in reading polls over there.

It's official:Trump and his innumerable "crimes" will be the focus of a special prosecutor.  To me, this means that the DOJ wants some political cover from what comes next, but in essence it also means that they are deadly serious about nailing Trump to the wall.

Returning to Twitter would be a great victory for DJT -- a form of vindication -- although it might also hasten the demise of Twitter and Trump's competing platform, "Truth Social".  Personally, I'd like both social media companies to live long and prosper, but we now have to accept that, for the Dems and the Left, killing Twitter and Truth Social are existential fights that may be, in the cosmic sense, more important even than who wins a (temporary) House majority.

  1. I think the moon will be as the ocean floor is now - a place only to visited and stayed in only under draconian conditions. The ocean and Antarctica are far better picks than the moon or, for the luvva. . ., Mars, for settlement. Don't have travel through space to get to them ."Terraforming" is probably far harder than making the ocean or the Southern extremity habitable.

  2. Oh, I can do you one better! Why not exile us to the Arctic ice shelf. Then, as global warming progresses (our fault, needless to say), our habitat will shrink and we'll be forced to confront our awfulness on the brink of death... The Left would call it poetic slaughter!

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: If the left triumphs, terraforming probably would be "terrorforming". As you observed future American manned space flights will be rife with political correctness. When the left rules, political correctness is enforced with terror, ergo. . .

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Your idea is taken under advisement; most dictatorships or budding ones are bureaucracies yes?

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Perhaps a triumphant left would banish us to the supposedly proliferating horde of icebergs, there to be swallowed by the ever encroaching sea.

  6. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Sheesh, that article about Trump and DeSantis was exhaustively argued; I think the caution about DeSantis perhaps going the way of such as Rick Perry or Chris Christie is well taken. DeSantis is admirable and a promising prospect but he has not yet been tested in the trenches but by jinko, Trump.has been! President T is battered but he's far from out. The vicious snobs who speak for the dems are scared ,even unto quaking, of Trump and the prospect of his return to Supreme Court redeeming power. They think it appallingly possible or they would not persist in their legal onslaught on him.

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: President Trump is embraced because he is an HOMBRE! Trump nation is mightily fed up with oily apologists for incipient totalitarians who would in final power manifest brutish physical inhumanity fully proven by their recent history in terribly unfortunate lands. What did it take to disempower accomplished subhumans like the commies and the nazis. GUTS! We know President Trump has backbone and moxie to the max,he's shown his willingness to treat the left and its cringing shills with deserved contempt, to fly in their disingenuous faces, to show them up for the crudely disdainful low lifes they are and to endure their depraved attacks. Sure, he eschews grace,he gets his hands dirty doing so; he is crude. But his roughness is just what is needed to counter the utterly false refinement fronted by those who have demonstrated unmistakeable resolve to reduce us to serfdom.

  8. Jack, I try not to think too hard about our fates under leftist tyranny. I like to imagine that, if one self-censors, one might even be left in peace. Stranger things have happened. Or maybe they'll just invent "Marxoform", a drug which renders us an ingenious combination of "woke" and comatose.

Yes, if I were DeSantis, I wouldn't take Trump on lightly. And yet, and I've said, he's rapidly approaching the point of no return already. In for a penny, in for a pound?

Well, I see what you mean about Trump's "moxie", but Alex Jones has moxie too, and look where it's gotten him. Toughness needs to be married to common sense or street smarts, or else it isn't much use. Just sayin'.

  9. Dr. Waddy from Jack: My gut tells me its too early for DeSantis to make a try for the nomination. There was the precipitate advance of Obama but he was immune from MSM calumny.

  10. Jack, are you saying that it's too early for DeSantis to announce, or too early (even in '24) for him to run? If it's the latter I disagree. A former Congressman in his second term as a successful Governor has all the street cred and experience he needs. In fact, I'd say DeSantis's resume is darn near perfect, when you consider his military service and his Ivy League education.

  11. Dr. Waddy from Jack: A Nov. 23 post in American Thinker titled Return of the Great Maga King; Ishare its advoacyof continued support for our President Trump. You are right; DeSantis is well qualified ;his experience is much superior to that Obama had and that discredits my comparison above. But, I think Desantis should hold back until such time as President Trump may be
no longer viable.Perhaps the vicious and presumptuous ad hominem
left would ,in hobbling DJT, invite on itself a DeSantis who can handle them.

  12. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Again though you are right: DeSantis has a very strong record and is demonstrating aplomb and grace under attack so far. Ideologically he's just what we need and he has demonstrated the will to enable what he expresses.

  13. Jack, the problem is this: Trump could become unviable as a presidential contender long before he's unviable as a Republican nominee. That is to say: the Republican base may be so loyal to DJT that they'll follow him over a cliff. It wouldn't be the first time in American politics that the voters shoot themselves in the foot...

    1. Great point Dr. Waddy. Is the "base" more important than the electorate as a whole. Wait.... that question might be rhetorical.

  14. Ha! Richie, political analysts have been asking that question for eons. I'd say the Dems avoided disaster in '22 simply by turning out their base. That ain't nothin'...

  15. When will the US of A get smart and rid themselves of feeble Biden
and his cronies, the GREAT?????? US of A is going to hell in a handbasket and the the populace is simply watching. The USA
needs a LEADER, NOT a senile old man who cannot even remember his own name, let alone his job!!!!!!!

  16. Welcome, Nancy! We are pleased and proud to have you with us!

Truer words were never spoken. Even WITH a great and visionary leader this country would be struggling. With Biden and most of our political, cultural, and economic elite abetting our decay, we are truly in desperate shape. Not that we'll sink beneath the waves quickly, but we're taking on water steadily and relentlessly. At a certain point it will become a mathematical certainty that we'll founder. My pal Ray says we're already there. I'm only 80% convinced that he's right. 20% of me still clings to hope.
