Waddy = Freedom! Un-Waddy = Un-Freedom!

Friends, my (metaphorical) musket is always trained on the enemies of liberty!  Recently, I sounded off on the evils of Big Tech, which is seeking to silence voices of which it disapproves, including that of President Trump.  I told Sputnik News exactly what I think of that kind of Bolshevist thought control!

Meanwhile, the battle continues to rage over Georgia's Voter ID law and the Dem/progressive campaign to make Georgia pay for its insolence.  President Trump is calling for Republicans, conservatives, and patriots to boycott companies like Coke and Delta which are buckling under to leftist pressure.  I'm torn, personally.  I hate the politicization of everything, even soda pop and air travel, but the truth is that the squeaky wheel really does get the grease.  If the Left leans on corporate America and the right sits on its hands, well, you do the math...  Anyway, it's nice to see Georgia standing up for itself and standing by its new law, and it's refreshing that the PGA, at least, is refusing to cave.  Baseball is officially no longer "America's game", if you want my opinion!  The good news is that these small-minded boycotting tactics may well backfire: Georgians don't appreciate the "punishment" that the Left is now inflicting on them.  I predict Georgia will be back in the red column in 2022!

In other news, there's some confusion about whether the U.S. is seeing another coronavirus "surge", but there's little doubt that there is a surge in other parts of the world that are lagging in vaccine distribution.  Perceptions of risks relative to the dreaded virus continue to have little to do with actual patterns of risk, however.

Could Republicans be competitive in New Mexico's upcoming House special election?  Don't bet on it, but if the GOP candidate were to win, it would show that the Dems are in very serious trouble in 2022.

I don't know what to make of the latest DC sex scandal involving Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.  He denies all the charges, so we just have to hope that the DOJ investigation will be (uncharacteristically) fair.

The "beauty" of cancel culture is that eventually it leads to the cancellation of everyone and everything.  Even Robespierre eventually got Robespierred!  I believe it's called a "purity spiral" or something to that effect?  Anyway, it's nice to see Barack Obama get dinged for his insufficient wokeness...

Now here's an intriguing story.  What do you suppose would be the media reaction if a troubled member of the Proud Boys, or just a wide-eyed Trump supporter, drove his car into a barricade around the U.S. Capitol and killed a police officer?  Would tempered analysis of the perils of mental illness ensue?  Yeah, right.  The media would beat the drum of "right-wing extremism" and "white supremacy" for days, if not weeks.  Curious, then, that the partly political and racial motivations of the recent attacker at the Capitol don't seem to trouble the press or the reigning Democrats at all...

SUVs for me, but not for thee?  Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg got caught staging a photo op.  He wanted to be seen arriving at a Cabinet meeting via his eco-friendly bike, instead of a fleet of SUVs.  You gotta love these people!

Finally, heed the words of Charles Barkley.  The modern political and media environment really is designed to foster hatred, bitterness, vengeance, and anxiety.  It's toxic, simply put.  Here at WaddyIsRight we know this and try to analyze politics and cover the news more responsibly.  Sure -- we mock the Dems and their acolytes.  A good laugh at their expense is more than called for.  But hate Joe Biden?  Despise the woke SJWs?  Froth with rage at the decline of Western Civilization?  No thanks.  Life is too short.  Plus, I've met plenty of leftists.  They're arrogant and blinkered, but very few are bad people.  Cut off the constant flow of misinformation that deludes them, and most would return to sanity and decency in short order.  That's why Trump's number one error was not damming up the rivers of bile flowing out of the mouths of "journalists".  But I digress.  America just isn't such a bad place, and Americans aren't such bad people.  It's a shame, however, that our two-party system and our media is expressly designed to conceal these essential truths from us.

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack Re the interview: Perhaps the left is realistic about Americsn politics being comparable to a pendulum. Swings to one side often prompt reaction. What they may hope is to one day swing the pendulum so farleft that it jumps its axis and that reaction to their totalitarian intent is impossible. In addition to the truth of Facebook's ability to remove anyone or any idea from its medium is the proven certainty that it WILL impede or erase all which excites its leftist political antipathy either out of principle or out of conviction that countenance of unapologetic assertive and frank anti left attitude is bad for their business. I agree with you that this stance could fly in their face, either from Scotus reproach or popular revulsion.

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Georgia has become a vital battleground for the real America vs the cynical, disdainful and presumptuous far left. I agree with your prediction that Georgia will turn in revulsion against the carpetbagish invasion by the left it has endured recently. It wantef to do right but realized that this ideal is seen by the left as surrender to its dictatorial sway!

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Yes, agreed , post 1789 "revolutions" typically devour their own and result in Napoleon, Stalin, etc ad nauseum.OK, Napoleon did have his virtues but was certainly not the ideal of Madame Defarge! Stalin? He was beneath human consideration, being hellishly subhuman! I do not regret seeing America hating Obama tried by the whirlwind he helped to loose.

  4. Jack, I think what the recent past demonstrates is that Big Tech will nibble away at "free speech" at the margins until it experiences meaningful resistance...and a threat to its profits, as you say. So far they haven't encountered either. Now, could national and state/provincial laws prohibiting deplatforming and censorship be the answer? Maybe! Frankly, the laws themselves may be less important than the popular revulsion they represent. If Big Tech isn't scared by THAT, it should be!

Jack, I sure hope that Georgia is learning how impossible it is to appease the Left. Why, just months ago Georgians were the darlings of the progressive movement! Now they're scum. It's enough to make your head spin. I think it's fair to say that, in 2022, all eyes will be on the Peach State!

Jack, it bears remembering that the French Revolution consumed Robespierre...and then it consumed itself. I guess that means that leftism could easily burn itself out, but in the meantime it could take millions or tens of millions of innocents with it. So...it ain't smooth sailing, to say the least!

  5. Nick, you keep forgetting that GA has changed dramatically in terms of demographics in the state. In addition to the growth of people of color, GA has brought in a number of professional, college-educated white voters who live in the suburbs and vote Democratic.

The GA legislation has fired up the black community as an attempt to suppress their voting rights. They came out in higher-than-expected numbers in 2020, and will likely do so again in 2022. This voting bill is just the issue that Warnock can ride to re-election. Plus, he will have lots of corporate support.

  6. Dr. Waddy et el from Jack: What David Horowitz rightly called "the politics of bad will" completely discredits leftist claims of justice in their opposition to this bill. Their only concern is to preserve their beach head in the very deep South. Naturally, having achieved this using Georgia's existing laws,
they have a good game going and are loathe to endure any setback. Reconquer the South, reReconstruct it, then do for Texas and the Mountain West . . . then make second class citizens of the real America!

  7. Sorry, "politics of bad faith"it is. Jack

  8. Rod, right now big corporations are virtually unanimous in their support of Democrats...which should tell you everything you need to know about how sincere the Dems are in championing "the little guy". But I digress. By 2022, I expect the GOP will be back in the game, in terms of corporate money. You're right, of course, that Georgia has changed. That makes it a purple state. As the nation goes in 2022, therefore, so goes Georgia. I like our chances.

Jack, calling Georgia a "beachhead" is an excellent metaphor. Like most beachheads, it will be inherently difficult to hold!

  9. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Oh I could see the hard left cynically using useful idiots in corporate America, while sizing them up for the tumbrels. But we know how "the little guy" fared under Bolshies in control, eg 1930s Ukraine and communalka dwellers, while cadre prospered, oh yes! The Rod Mckuenly sensitive left actually thinks its movement embraces the lower income strata. They haven't the slightest conception of its realities or of proven empowered leftist responses to them. Why those dear things!

  10. True, Jack -- I strongly suspect that totalitarian leftist control would exacerbate income and wealth disparities, since, minus genuine political competition, there'd be no more reason to humor the proles, right? As for corporate bigwigs, some would rise and some would fall, depending on their usefulness to the movement.
