Beep, beep! Beep, beep!

What's that sound, you ask?  It's the insistent screeching of the Soviet Union's trailblazing satellite: Sputnik 1.  Less metaphorically, it's the sound of ME, as I'm extensively quoted in an outstanding Sputnik News Agency article about the Black Lives Matter movement.  Take a gander at what I had to say about BLM and its prospects in the post-election period:

https://sputniknews.com/analysis/202009231080542683-how-black-lives-matter-is-losing-its-veneer-of-a-peaceful-social-justice-movement-/

In other news, President Trump, as expected, has named Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court.  The consensus is that she'll be a solid conservative, and she'll be very hard to beat in terms of the nomination fight.  The Dems are struggling to find narratives that they can deploy against her...but how hard they try to tarnish her good name remains to be seen.  The upshot: SCOTUS is about to get measurably greater, better, and more faithful to the Constitution.

Finally, President Trump recently made a stop in Virginia, and it has me wondering whether that state could be in play in November.  Democrats are inclined to scoff -- almost as much as they scoffed at the idea that Trump could win in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania in 2016...  Personally, I say we should play on as big a map as possible.  Win 'em all, Mr. President!  The momentum is moving in our direction, and this nomination struggle, combined with the upcoming debates, means the dynamics are growing more favorable by the day.  I'm optimistic!

  1. Not so sure the BLM is going to fade into insignificance by 2021, or any time soon thereafter.

I predict they will be around for quite some time to come, and could be planning some nasty things, especially if Trump wins again. Don't underestimate these people.

Also, if Trump wins again, the DemoLISTAS will still make as much trouble as they can, as usual.

My point is, that in Constitutional Republics such as ours, the bad guys who think they are good guys are allowed to get away with a great deal.

  2. Dr.Waddy et al from Jack: I was intrigued by the name Sputnik, having lived through the debut of Sputnik and the concern it caused. One concern was that the patternless beeps from Sputnik presaged a Soviet ability to broadcast propaganda in a technologically impressive and perhaps thereby doctrinally impressive manner. So I looked up Sputnik News Agency. The sense I got, especially from an article by one Andrew Feinberg, anAmerican briefly employed by the agency, was that the Russian gov't supported agency has as its objective the advancement of perceptions favoring the Trump administration. I have long thought that Hillary would have provoked serious conflict with Russia in order to muffle domestic outcry against her radical leftist domestic agenda. It makes sense to me that a puppet Biden regime would do the same and that Russia would really prefer not to be used that way by American Marxists; the perception of their experiential loathing for Marxism being rather well historically founded. Can we blame the Russians for being concerned about a political power in the USwhich blames them for all evil dating from the original fall? Especially since that faction was once so very much their friend in the halcyon '60's? The quotes they used from your writing reflect a reality ever more evident in the US as radical overreach and the ever increasing promise of the defeat of the American far left, either in the election or from its probably inevitable loss of it's treasured SCOTUS, orboth (not to mention Congress),looms!

  3. Dr.Waddy et al from Jack: The phenomenon of foo foo liberals fleeing the hellholes they themselves created in downstate NY and CA and polluting their perceived refugees with their presumption ,is very evident in such battlegrounds as VA and NC and perhaps even Texas. But in Dixie, I think they have taken on more than they comprehend or can handle and I think the President is wise and faithful to take the side of the real Americans who predominate in those lands. The resentment the invaders generate I think presents them if with a choice: "either assimilate at least as much as you are capable or get out. We will never abide you forcing your lifestyle on us and you must not think that your temporary advances in VA assure you victory. We are just beginning to be pissed!"

  4. Ray, I both agree and disagree: the people in BLM and Antifa aren't going anywhere. Their "peaceful protests" will escalate if Trump wins. Even if Biden wins, unrest may grow. BLM as an organization, though, I believe will be superseded. Look at Occupy Wall Street. These leftist groups tend to run their course. Eventually their very names become toxic, so they reinvent themselves.

Jack, yes -- what I read also indicates that the Sputnik News Agency is an arm of the Russian state and generally advances its agenda. And surely the Russians did prefer Trump over Clinton, but frankly I'm not sure they obtained much advantage from "helping" him win. Russia has been thoroughly demonized by the establishment (left and right), and Trump has actually been more aggressive than Obama was or Hillary would have been in countering Russia. My guess is that the Russians' real goal in the U.S. is simply to encourage any centrifugal forces -- that is, to foster confusion and chaos. Since our system is about as dysfunctional and acrimonious as it's ever been, I'd say it's working!

Jack, Dixie has proven mostly immune to the siren song of leftism, but we have to admit that Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and even Georgia and Texas, are not as reliable as they once were. It will take some Trump magic to achieve a clean sweep below the Mason-Dixon line...but I do believe it's possible. There's certainly no reason not to try.

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: By the way there was a letter in our local paper taking you to task for your comments on BLM. It maintained that your comments were to be expected from you since you are a demonstrated!!!!!!!. The term was imaginative and creative; I've never seen it before, I hope it does not gain purchase since it was insufferably prolix. Of course the mandatory though reflexive denunciations of "racism" ,undefined as usual and "hate" conveniently undirected at the very font of hate in our society, the far left ,were levelled at you. The critic did not venture, however, to suggest that you are comrade to that faction; perhaps the critic realizes that their presumptuous accusations fall on less and less credit these days and wished to affect independence.

  6. You lost me, Jack. I'm a "demonstrated"...what? Racist? Well, I defend Trump, so I guess I must be. I criticize BLM, so I must be. I don't take any of it too seriously. If a conservative hasn't been called silly names by a liberal, then he isn't conservative enough, if you ask me!

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: The term was "blatherskite". I paraphrased to be expected; it was actually " a blatherskite if there ever was one ". You have been singularly honored by the attribution to you of this hitherto unknown and conveniently undefined appellation.

Please STOP writing like a late 16th Century scribe! Please! No offense, but anyone who might consider commenting on this site, could get turned off by the wordy sentences you create. Your English is very eloquent and all that, but it tends to fly over the heads of many people. Not because they are stupid, but because your grammar looks like you are attempting to write a play or compose a poem. Please Jack! Just plain English will do. Thanks.

Let me give you an example of the words you use. Back in March when Dr. Waddy went on a cruise vacation you said "I bid you a salubrious sojourne at sea and island". Why not, have a nice vacation, or something along those lines. Why words the average person has to look up for a definition. How many people wish someone a "salubrious sojourne"? Sorry to be unkind, but honestly Jack, most people do not write like this. PLEASE. Dumb it down a bit.

  9. Ray from Jack: I do very much credit your criticism; it is on the mark. I especially credit guidance from accomplished intellectuals like you ; for sure I am an amateur. BUT, I have alot of fun with my presumptous expressions and unless Dr. Waddy specifically proscribes them, I shall continue and I willingly expose myself to the censure of professionals like yourself. I mean NO irony in this assertion, only respect for your hard earned status

What's so difficult to understand with regard to my comments on your writing style?

      1. Did I ask you to stop commenting? NO! I certainly could not stop you from doing so even if I wanted to.

      2. Where did you get the "accomplished intellectual" stuff from? I don't even like the word "intellectual" and I sure do not consider myself accomplished, certainly not compared to Dr. Waddy.

Goodbye and good luck to you.

  10. Ray from Jack: Consider anyone with an advanced degree to be an accomplished intellectual. Ray, I didn't even get through the first course in a history master's program I entered. Both the quality and the extent of the readings overwhelmed and I was plainly over my head in the seminars.

  11. Jack, unlike Ray, I appreciate the honeyed eloquence of your posts. I say keep it up! Hey, maybe we're both blatherskites? We should form a club, perhaps? That could be fun!

I see you're both in a competition to decide who's less accomplished. Let me settle it once and for all. YOU ARE BOTH MERE PIPSQUEAKS COMPARED TO ME, THE KING OF THE BLATHERSKITES!!! Quake in terror. Kneel and obey. That is all.

  12. "Where is the Queen said the King? In bed with Tonsillitis Sire. What said the King?, that Greek Son of a B***H! S***! said the King. And 400,000 loyal subjects squatted, because in those days the King's word was law."

That's why your are KING, Dr. Nick, and NEVER forget it! NEVER!!!

  14. Dr.Waddy and Ray from Jack: I might as well have fun (above) after this thing erases my reply at it's pleasure. When I use that "high falutin" language, alot of the time I'm just funnin' but I do genuinely admire the elegance of the recorded expression of the 16th and 17th centuries and take pleasure in attempting to take part in that aspect of our beautiful English language. Ray: that was a good one above but what if the King had said "oddsfish" as I heard in a film today?

  15. Ray, fear not -- I will never command my subjects to squat. I command you to soar! Soar like the majestic eagle or the cantankerous goose, but above all...loosen your avian bowels on the heads of Democrats! They so richly deserve it.

Jack, we know you're having fun with the English language. What's the harm? If we're not here for fun, what are we here for? Commiseration? Okay, a little of that, but I think we all understand that the fabled third rock from the sun is God's discard pile. Even He views our collective fate with bemusement, no?
