"You're a Racist!"...and Other Flights of Fancy

Friends, the incredible flexibility with which the Left uses the terms racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, and xenophobia has been obvious for several decades now, although the bar keeps getting lower and lower, and that's distressing, to say the least.  Now Trump is the victim of leftist smears, based on a recent tweet about AOC and her fellow travelers.  Let's be clear: Trump DID NOT say these Congresswomen "of color" should move back to their "home" countries.  He said that they should go there, learn about these countries' massive flaws, reevaluate their contempt for America, and only proffer advice about how to fix America once they understand its greatness in the proper context.  That's what he was driving at, although even I would admit that he might have made the point more elegantly.  His criticism of the anti-Americanism of some members of Congress, however, is neither racist nor xenophobic -- it's patriotic, and that's why we elected the man in the first place!

And let's not forget that the Left is shot through with both racism AND xenophobia.  Their reflexive vilification of white people is inherently racist, and their three-year-long diatribe against Russia is nothing if not xenophobic.  As always, the Left defines all pejorative concepts in creative ways that categorically eliminate them from consideration.  Don't be fooled!  They think that, by simply repeating their baseless claims over and over, they can get simple people to believe them.  They're right, as far as that goes.  But you and I are not simpletons, and we are NOT fooled!

In other news, here's my latest article, which is an analysis of some recent developments in the (virulently anti-Trump) music industry, and a call for the Trump administration to prevent the formation of an unchecked monopoly therein:

  1. There is a funny meme going around on FB; (Paraphrasing) You can leave this country the borders are open and don't forget your Nikes.

I totally back the President on this, 100%. I don't think he or his statements are racist, he actually speaks the truth and is calling out the hypocrisy. You know, at first I thought these four women were playing some sort of game and now, sadly, I think they believe the stuff that is coming out of their mouths. But you know, they can spew this nonsense because they live in America-try that somewhere else. That is what I find so amusing about all this--they sure enjoy the freedoms here in America such as running ones mouth and yet, they have such hate. Hypocrisy and bigotry at its best.

As for your article, I suppose there are pro and cons to this subject. Deregulation (in my opinion thinking back to Economics class) promotes monopolies on the hand, the free market promotes growth. The cons are the same; monopolies, the bubble could burst etc. I'm not so sure about government regulation; they sure have done a bang up job on many other things. On the other hand intellectual property must be protected. I don't suppose there is a compromise that can be made? This needs to be watched very closely. I will have to read more on this topic to form an opinion either way. Thanks Dr. Waddy for pointing this out.

  2. Dr. Waddy: Apparently the American left believes all it has to do is grant a term its imprimatur and it is arrogated exclusive right to define and use it as it alone wishes. (Talk about copyright!)Marx bade them be free of conventional restraints and they are blithe to do so in their continuing quest for totalitarian control.

Popular music is so, well, popular. For some it is vital. I would guess that precipitate price increases due to deregulation would encourage much bootlegging and that could create a rare old mess.

    1. Very good Jack (grin--because that is what I have been reading about)...I think you are correct-it would cause a mess.

Wow--you said a mouthful about the "left", smiles & two thumbs up.

  3. Thanx Linda: I'd bet you the four radicals he criticized would be very willing to emphasize and identify with their ethnic and national heritage heritage any old time they feel like it but "don't you dare try it". I'm not at all bothered by the President's brusqueness toward them; if they can't take it they shouldn't dish it out and they DO dish it out.Dr.Waddy's analysis of the President's comments makes sense and I'll bet that's the way many, many Americans see them. I love the comment I heard: "He says what I want to say!". The "he says" part is just as important as the rest of the statement. Yeah, he does say what alot of us can't say or about which we won't be listened to and we ain't forgetting that or him. We'll be there when he needs us and the reflexive "accusers" just make us more determined.

    1. Agree Jack...we were discussing this yesterday evening and I have since come to the conclusion perhaps I am a bigot, racist, deplorable, and so on...well, according to what the dems say, I am. So I must be, right? (just being funny)

  4. Linda: You brought up a very good point when you said above "they sure enjoy the freedoms here. . . and yet they still have such hate". Yeah, why is that? I've often expressed my opinion that the leftist mass in my boomer generation, in its monumental naivete and ingratitude, is most responsible for the, yes, HATE filled attack on America over the last 50 years. But maybe that doesn't explain whelps like AOC and her mates. Whatever does? Dr. Waddy - could be a good article on your part(?)

  5. Linda, I don't pretend to understand the vagaries of antitrust law all that well, but I do think it could be dangerous to destabilize the music industry, which is one of our great American strengths.

Jack makes a superb point that higher music prices would produce more bootlegging of content. Frankly I'm not sure how the entertainment industry makes money NOW. Accessing content illegally is so commonplace.

It's great to see you both discussing "the Squad" so vigorously! Tucker made a good point: any day that these progressive firebrands dominate news coverage is a GOOD day for Republicans. This week, the Dems and their media cronies may have won a battle, but they may still lose the war (in 2020).

Linda, you're so right that these women are LUCKY to live in a country where their sedition is tolerated, even rewarded. How many nations would be this indulgent?

I concur that Trump's directness is, on balance, one of his best features. Unlike a typical politician who cloaks his views in layers of obfuscation, Trump lets it all hang out. The media would be eating up his "folksiness" if he was on the Left, needless to say. In fact, they'd egg him on.

Linda, the only definition of "bigot", "racist", etc. that means anything to me is a person who categorically hates people of a certain group. That doesn't describe Trump, or you, or me -- period, exclamation point!

What explains the hatefulness of AOC and her ilk? Good question. I suggested on the blog just a couple of hours ago that academia may be at the bottom of a lot of it. I suspect these women were trained to despise America by gray-beards at some liberal arts college. That's an atmosphere where anger and anti-Western prejudice thrive. Then again, maybe they just grew up watching CNN! Although, to be fair, even a few years ago CNN wasn't the cockpit of anti-Americanism that it is now. Why the Left has become so hysterical of late is, I will admit, something of a mystery to me...but we need to get to the bottom of it. Understanding the Left is key to defeating it, and frankly, if one views the modern Left as akin to a cult (not a bad analogy), the only way to save the leftists in the end will be to deprogram them systematically. We need to understand the "program" to do this effectively. It's either that or lots of anti-psychotic drugs! Maybe Pfizer will start selling "Trump-away" pills?

  6. Dr. Waddy, I had the same thought; I simply do not understand the hatefulness of AOC and her ilk. I just can not place all the blame academia. I blame the parents as well. We raised a son who has great patriotism, and love of country, although to be fair he never went to public school. Grant it, he might be a little biased for the country he was raised in and he will tell you in a heartbeat what makes America great to live in. He will also tell you that not all young people his age (22) feel the same way that AOC and her ilk feel. I can tell you though, AOC and her ilk are resonating with the older group; say 60+ age group of democrats. I can tell you my parents who are blue diehard democrats, and who are 74 and 75 whole heartedly agree with this socialist agenda. I simply can not understand why--my father served this country and made a good life for us. When questioned, he offers no explanation. He also thinks Trump is a racist (and me as well), again, offers no reason. AND I think that is the bottom line--they really don't know WHY they believe it. Does that make sense? WHY is the real question...even when you (in general) ask WHY to a person of academia, they really do not have the answer or they will say, "You hater!" Whatever, it just gets so tiring. But, I honestly believe, if one can answer that question, "WHY?" one might just get a honest answer. I am not even sure if one can be de programed at this point. Thanks for the laugh over Pfizer--that's what we need-more drugs (rolling eyes)-"Here just take a pill, everything will be better" lol. I know it was said in jest, as was my comment about being a racist/bigot.

I do not know the answer to this problem. All I know to do is keep spreading the truth, base it on the facts. Put that armor on. I am afraid come 2024, things will get more uglier.

  7. Dr. Waddy and Linda: Did that because twice now this thing has erased my comments arbitrarily. Isn't it ironic that the left which dominates the entertainment industry is also the fount of the withering contempt for the rule of law which obtains today? Copyright law, which probably originated in the Common Law, affirms to the creator of a work a right to enjoy the fruits of his or her labor. Leave it to the left to arrogate to all a right to profit by the efforts of a few.

  8. Dr.Waddy and Linda: Linda is certainly right in saying we must keep spreading the truth and expose the untruth of so much of the left says. One way to do that is to confront those who casually accuse the unwashed like us of "racism, sexism, bigotry etc". A good way to do that is to bid them define these terms. Often the accuser cannot offer a well reasoned definition or they cannot establish that the definition fits the accused.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Dr. Waddy and Linda: Now challenging the accuser in this manner can accomplish several positive things: First it shows that the accused is of an open mind since it does raise the possibility that the accusation could be well argued; this willingness to reason often provides a redeeming contrast to the evident dismissiveness of the accuser.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Dr. Waddy and Linda: Second, it often produces in the accuser an emotional response which manifests itelf in sputtering irrationality. Sometimes they will say "don't play games, you know what I mean". Then its time to don the self righteous Phil Donahue smirk and say "no I DON'T - that/those term (s)has/have been so overused and misused by so many that I truly DO NOT know what you mean ."

  11. Dr. Waddy and Linda: That is one way of prying the truth of bigotry from the leftist bigot and the more we do it the more truth will out and the more humbug will be revealed. Our already proven courageous President would do us much good to try it.

Once a friend said to me "yeah but if I express that I'll just get called a ________." I said"by who and why does their opinion necessarily matter more than yours?"

    ReplyDelete
  12. Linda, I share your befuddlement! It's obvious that many on the Left believe what they believe simply because they are deeply emotionally invested in the idea that some people are good, and some people are bad, and CNN and the New York Times (for some reason) have figured out who's who. As we've discussed, the actual definitions of things like "racism" simply haven't occurred to most liberals: they know it when they see it, and we're it! Sad. Jack is right that it behooves us to challenge the Left to think more critically about their own claims...but you're both right that the likely reaction to those efforts will be scorn and hostility. C'est la vie. It's the persuadable and impressionable people in "the middle" who might be swayed by our patient attempts to "deprogram" them. Or so I like to think!

  13. Dr. Waddy: That is a good point. The hard left is unassailable. But those of good will who may have thought the left their haven may be dissuaded thus.
