Taking a Header for Waddy

Friends, it has only now occurred to me that I forgot to post this week's Newsmaker Show interview between Brian O'Neil and myself.  Quelle horreur!!!  I feel indescribably crestfallen about this, especially since I can only imagine that, for many of my most ardent fans, a week without Waddy renders them (or you) a danger to themselves (or yourselves).  My deepest apologies!  I doubt very much that this oversight will ever be repeated, but, if it is, I implore you to delve deep into the Waddy archives as an alternative to self-harm.

This week's show, in any case, covers some deeply engrossing topics, like: what Vivek Ramaswamy and Donald Trump have in common, whether the deep state can ever be tamed, our "least bad option" democracy, the staying power of Joe Biden, the terrifying growth in deficit spending, the prospects for Fani Willis' witch hunt versus Donald Trump, the politics of redistricting, the foreign policy advice of Viktor Orban, the death throes (?) of Ukraine, and the degree of Chinese control over the Panama Canal.  Historically, we also remember Germany's failed gambit to bully Britain into submission during the Blitz of 1940-41.

Can you believe I almost neglected to share these various analytical gems with Waddy Nation???  Oof!  Boy, do I have egg on my face.

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Consideration was given to your summary denunciation unto the Inquisition for your infamous failure to post with required immediacy. That dread measure is now held in suspension pending any insolent reprise of such unbearable tardiness. Bethink thee of this! Now, I am much offended by your declaration that "spending like a drunken sailor ", as you said on the broadcast, is a bad thing. Having been such a one on countless mirth filled occasions I cannot but denounce this your observation. Can you, pray, claim an exactly congruent experience? Fie!

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Mass layoffs of Federal employees would perhaps be best accomplished by the ending of entire departments, starting with that of "Education". President Reagan gave his word, was sneered at by the air controllers and then, by jinko, he kept it even unto firing them. We need that kind of resolve now. I think a very much more experienced and yes, vindictive, DJT would do it and I'm confident that aVP DeSantis would make a good point man

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: True, the nazis did not do as much bombing destruction to Britain as was done to them. But they never produced a heavy bomber, as the Allies did right from the get go.They were viciously unrestrained in their use of their V-1 and V-2 missiles though. They had but little compassion throughout the war. I still think that if the RAF had been neutralized, Churchill would have sent the Royal Navy on a death ride against the invasion fleet. But one surviving Brit battleship could have done for those contraptions the boche would have used together with their many cruisers, some of which would have endured. It took a long time for Britain and the US to develop good amphibious technology and tactics even for as narrow a sea as the Channel.

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: O'Reilly did make a good argument that Biden will not be the candidate but you countered it well. Swing voters voting for the lesser perceived bad, together with dems defiantly sticking with an impeached Biden, both of which you have noted, could overcome Biden's many disqualifications.

  5. Jack, I honestly can say that I've never even encountered a drunken sailor, and I've certainly never been one, although it probably would take an enormous amount of alcohol to get me to enlist... I beg your pardon, therefore! I should have said "a drunken Hunter Biden". That's a mental picture that no one has trouble forming...

Jack, those air traffic controllers were fired "for cause", i.e. they went on an illegal strike, no? That was a bold move on Reagan's part, which sadly would be hard to repeat in this day and age. In the end, though, it all depends on what the courts will let you get away with (in Trump's case, I assume, virtually nothing).

Jack, I'm sure the Brits would have scraped together everything they could against Operation Sea Lion, and they might have succeeded, especially given the Germans' total ignorance of how to mount an amphibious invasion. On land I suspect a small German force would have been in even deeper trouble.

Jack, just today there was a major lefty calling on Biden to step aside (in honeyed words, mind you, designed to conciliate the old coot). Biden may well be the Dem nominee. He may well be replaced on the ticket. Either way, whomever the Dems nominate, he/she/it will stand a good chance of winning.

  6. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Oh I did not enlist; I was dragged in by the press gang, after the Royal Navy's "occasionally" enforced tradition. Oh yeah, I was in the US Navy,; maybe I did enlist or maybe I WAS pressed. De nada.

  7. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I know: the boche should have donned Norman garb and crossed in one sailed tubs. As historically minded as Churchill was, he would have had to submit. By the way, when I say "kraut" or "boche" I am referring only to the nazis.

  8. Jack, you jest, but the Germans' best chance to invade was probably in small craft. As I understand it, time was not on their side, as Britain was steadily girding itself for self-defense.
