Taking "Desecration" To A Whole New Level

Friends, authorities in Richmond, Virginia have long been painting obscene messages, as it were, on the canvas of the famous Robert E. Lee statue there, but today they took their dissrespect for the dead to a whole new level by removing the statue and cutting it into bite-sized pieces.  And thus Robert E. Lee, who President Trump has rightly praised as "the greatest unifying force after the [Civil] war was over, ardent in his resolve to bring the North and South together through many means of reconciliation", is chucked into the dustbin of history.  He deserves far better.  Shame on you, Richmond!  Let's hope the GOP takes back the Virginia Governor's mansion and the House of Delegates in November 2021.  That would teach the enemies of our nation's glorious heritage a valuable lesson!

Here's an impassioned letter from a college professor who is resigning his position to protest his institution's subservience to wokery.  What he has been through as a defender of liberty is chilling -- and consider that he, unlike most Americans, is protected by tenure!  How much more vulnerable, therefore, must be the vast majority of conservatives fighting the good fight against cancel culture, political correctness, and "diversity, equity, and inclusion", a.k.a. race-baiting, misanthropy, and victimology...

It's a shame what's become of the NFL, which I still very much enjoy as a spectator.  Here's hoping the woke messaging pushed by the League will be less strident this year than last.

As signs multiply that the Dems may be unable to pass either the $1 trillion infrastructure bill negotiated with some Senate Republicans or the $3.5 trillion monstrosity that they've cooked up on their own, Chuck Schumer seems to be betting that sheer bluster can get the job done.  He doesn't have the 50 votes he needs, but he thinks that, if he pretends he does, peer pressure can get Joe Manchin to fall in line.  I wouldn't bet on it!

Things are getting ugly, polling-wise, for Sleepy Joe.  It bears mentioning that this poll assumes a national demographic baseline of 10 percentage points more Democrats than Republicans, which is a farce.  In other words, Biden's true "pole/poll position" is actually worse than these numbers make it look.  Of course, much can change between now and November 2022, but the deteroriation in the public's appraisal of Joe Biden and Co. has been rapid and severe. In my view, only the definitive end of the COVID pandemic between now and the mid-terms could meaningfully alter the political environment in the Dems' favor.  On the other hand, plenty of other things could go wrong, potentially worsening the Dems' prospects.

  1. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Is the debasement of the Lee statue the will of a majority of Virginians? Along with you I am eager to see that will expressed at the voting places!I hate to think that Virginia is lost to the totalitarians. And try as they may, the cancel culture bigots will never drive the love and regard so many in the South have for those who gave all to gain self rule, out of yes, Confederate hearts. I have witnessed that continuing devotion on the reenactment battlefield many times. They know their ancestors lost; they know slavery had to end and they know the South suffered so very much both from the war and its aftermath. They are today together with the still unpolluted part of the mountain West , the most constructively patriotic of Americans. Stop trying to desecrate their Confederate heritage; leave it be; other views of American history are afforded full credit now. I hope that statue is preserved and/or remounted in a more respectful setting!

  2. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Have you ever been to a Buffalo Bills game? Had there been full stadiums last year the wokers would have been inundated with derision from Bills fans, who are among the most enthusiastic in the NFL. I trust that attitude will obtain this season and, we may hope, be exemplary of popular disgust with organizational temerity in the face of incipient totalitarians who would mold every aspect of our lives to their will!

  3. Dr.Waddy from Jack: In my above comment on the Lee statue I did not mean to suggest you agree with its debasement, clearly you don't. Sometimes I switch to the third person, without any preface. Its a fault in my writing I should correct since not all your readers are familiar with my sometimes counterintuitive sense of humor.

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Schumer knows his tenuous tenure's days may well be numbered. And, driven by outrage at the insolent presumption of the GOP in blocking Garland and slipping Barrett into this increasingly noisome Scotus, he is determined to exact retribution and in a "New Yawk" minute too!It is a delight to consider the very possible frustration of this disdainful , stereotypical know it all New Yorker! I do not mean to suggest in this that all NYC and its environs'residents share his crude insular bigotry and his disdain for the real America. But he still gets the votes here andthe rest of the nation must, much against its will, restively endure his influence, for a time!

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: The letter from Prof. Boghossian is appalling though hardly surprising. Portland is apparently completely captured by a far leftist mob. I hope he will be embraced by the real America, which must persist somewhere, yes?

  6. Jack, it wouldn't shock me if most Virginians had turned against Lee by now, but it is interesting how many Southerners still cleave to those Confederate heroes, given the vile campaign of slander to which they've been subjected.

I have been to a Bills game! It's been almost twenty years, though. Would you be interested in going? Maybe we could get a group of "real Americans" together...

Jack, it would be HEAVENLY if we could rid ourselves of Chuck Schumer someday. In his own way, he's far more toxic and dangerous than even Emperor Andy.

I don't know what Prof. Boghossian's plans are, but I would hope that the conservative sub-culture will embrace him and provide for him. We have immense resources that we ought to use to support one another. Heaven knows no one else will come to our aid!

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: We may well see before too long; is Virginia permanently lost? My guess is that much of the rest of the South greatly values its Confederate heritage. What the bigoted wokists ignore (that is if they even know about it) was that the South suffered greatly for its ways after the war and endured much humiliation in the 60's. They would deny Southerners any consequent expiation for the wrongs they did. Of course , they are totalitarians at heart and intent. You often see stickers saying "heritage, not hate" on southern vehicles in the national Civil War renactments I go to. That I know to be sincere expression is not one of surrender to still existing Yankee presumption. The wokers would be unwise to see weakness in it. Southerners are no pushovers. I fear the woke will go too far in their hate filled crusade against the Confederate heritage and I think I know where it will be. See you at Seminary Ridge, Union and Confederate reenactors; we'll stand together to block the deconstruction machinery!

  8. P.S. in regards to the Bills, sigh, I am the only female in the warehouse and every.single.day. I am bombarded with this so called Bills Mafia. Can someone please explain to me what this is? ((grin--that's rhetorical)). I am a life long Bears fan. ANYWAYS, as a Northern born who was raised in the South and lived in the deep south of Alabama for 21 years, let me tell you, never ever underestimate a southerner, never. I also think most southerners think that us folks who live in the north are darn right stupid with all the mandates etc. and how we keep putting up with it. They might be on to something there.

I agree, Jack, the woke will go too far, they already are. At some point, Jack, folks will have had enough and I am afraid that time is coming.

  9. Jack, that's an excellent point -- whatever sins the South committed, it suffered for them for GENERATIONS. When is enough enough?

LINDA!!! You're back. We missed you. :)

A Bears fan? How did THAT happen? You must have been a big admirer of "The Fridge", huh?

Kudos to the South for upholding the cause of individual liberty during this endless pandemic, when liberty has become a term of abuse for all too many so-called Americans. God Bless the South!!!

  10. Dr.Waddy and Linda from Jack: Welcome back Linda! I've been a Bills fan since '62. I don't like the "Mafia" moniker but I guess its here to stay. I enjoy all the Bills craziness but I can understand how it might get tedious . I had a friend from DC who didn't like it. Bills fans are known nationally as some of the most enthusiastic. We are lucky to have an NFL team. Da Bears are a great franchise. My grandfather went to school in Chicago with George Halas. I am glad you agree with my comments!

  11. Boy, you get around, Linda! I guess that's good practice for when Sleepy Joe turns you into a refugee... Eek! Hey, I'll be living in the same camp, undoubtedly. It'll be fun! Lots of quality time together. :)

Wow, a Bills fan since '62! Talk about "long-suffering". Ha ha. I joined the mafia circa 1990 when the Bills made their first run at the Superbowl. Those were fun years.
