Down in the Dumps

Friends, old Sleepy Joe has plenty to cry about these days.  Even mainstream media polls are showing his approval rating plummeting.  Afghanistan has a lot to do with it, but economic worries and the COVID resurgence are also important factors.  Any way you slice it, a modestly popular president is now modestly unpopular -- and his cratering with independents has to be esepcially worrying for his handlers.  Here's hoping Uncle Joe can get his mojo back soon!  There's nothing sadder than a mopey old man...

In a closely related story, Senator Joe Manchin (D - West Virginia) has come out in opposition to the Dems' spendthrift "human infrastructure" plan, which was supposed to blow $3.5 trillion over the next ten years.  Well, without 50 votes in the Senate, it won't spend a single penny.  One of two things will happen: the bill will die an agonizing death in the legislative sausage maker, OR the Dems will start making adjustments -- you know, trim a hundred billion here and there -- to give Manchin and his ilk sufficient cover to vote for it.  Biden's declining approval numbers make the former scenario more and more plausible.

As you know, climate change poses an "existential threat" to, uh, existence.  Not surprisingly, therefore, it's making a lot of snowflakes exceedingly anxious.  Some people apparently need professional help and/or medication just to deal with the weather report!  Needless to say, here at WaddyIsRight, our hearts go out to these troubled souls.  A word of solace: come what may, this will presumably still be the most salubrious planet on offer in our solar system.  I mean, even if the temperature was to go up here by ten degrees, which no one thinks is feasible, Earth would still be way more appealing than, say, Venus, where daily highs reach 870 degrees (give or take).  So hey -- chill out, climate-heads!  It could be worse...

Finally, check out this story.  Doug Jensen is likely headed to jail.  His crime?  Well, there a bunch of them, but the last straw for our so-called "justice system" was Jensen's decision to watch Mike Lindell videos in his garage.  I mean, what was he thinking?  That this is a free country?  Psh!  I jest, but by all means let's hold people accountable who broke the law on January 6th, but micromanaging their access to information and acting as if believing in "conspiracy theories" was itself a form of criminal activity or "insurrection" is absurd.  We Americans believe all kinds of nutty things, and we're entitled to.  Only -- only -- when our beliefs lead us to engage in destructive, criminal conduct should it become a matter of public interest or a concern to law enforcement.  To put it succinctly, stay out of our heads, lefties!  We still enjoy freedom of conscience.  At least we did the last time I checked.

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: It is productive and right to constantly note counterintuitive reflexively destructive leftist behavior but the conclusion reached from that observation is often the same: leftist disingenuous condemnation of Jan.6 (forgive me for taking advantage of a an MSM established cliche, the casual use of Jan. 6, because of course it carries a now "established" understanding of origin and "proven" meaning, yes?) is a staple of the frantic Pelosiesque determination to make unending use of the event to negate consideration of the left's 2020 insurrections, effusively apologized by that left!

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: You unforgiveab!y ignore the ever established intent of the left! The climate cannot be just relatively salubrious; it must be perfect! If not, why then chaos is come again!

  5. Dr.Waddy "Human infrastructure" ehh? Nice dodge Dems. By now you realize that everyone knows that if you get your mitts on that zillions of trillions, the last thing it will go for is physical reconstruction. Hundreds of no show storefront revolutionary "community organizing" sites; much taxpayer moola for the arts, as long as they sneer at America, daring ventures into universally available (and eventually mandated) virtual lessons in political correctness in all facets of public and private (sic) life, programs for compensating criminals for our presumptuousness in tasking them ( "human infrastructure" yes?) etc ,etc, ad naueum, ad infinitum. And ,well gee Dems, a standup guy like real America's own Joe Manchin, doesn't hold with that kind of fiddle faddle!

  6. Ray, I'm as befuddled by Google's actions as you are! Probably it's a ruse to undermine the rapid rise of WaddyIsRight, which was threatening to subsume Western Civilization in its insurrectionist frenzy...

Jack, there's no doubt that the Left is beating the "January 6th" drum ad infinitum partly to conceal its own enthusiasm for lawlessness and political violence. In fact, I wonder whether the decline of the Bidenist consensus on the Left, which was always paper-thin, will mean that the more bloodthirsty purists will resume their campaign of terror... And, if they do, is the Dem establishment even capable of restraining them (assuming it wants to)?

Yeah, Joe Manchin is holding the line, for the moment, but the cynic in me says he'll happily endorse $3.4 trillion in wastefulness -- but $3.5 trillion is just too much. We'll see. It depends on how low Joe's ratings go.

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Wow, West Va. is a really "red" state (did those who originated those red state/blue state maps assign those colors in order to bollox real America ? Red used to be a synonym for commie).Polls show Manchin at a slight margin of approval in his state while their GOP Governor and Senator Capito are overwhelmingly approved. That would support the reservations you have expressed about him. He has recently voiced opposition to proposed stricter federal infringement on gun owners' rights, asserting his representation of a gunowning state and his possession of firearms. If he is sincerely concerned with being truly representative of his state, why doesn't he just switch parties before the 2024election? Maybe he is waiting for the 2022 results. A switch now , with all it would mean, might bring to full flame the smoldering resentment his apostasy has already generated in the national party, to GOP disadvantage in 2022. I am glad that West Virginia has such potentially decisive influence. The state originated in opposition to Virginia and this, terribly ironically given Virginia's at least present surrender to political correctness, obtains even today!

  8. Manchin is an enigma. Sure, politically he's foolish to stick to his Dem guns, as it were. He should migrate to the GOP, like all his neighbors. I'm also 99% sure that, if he votes to get the Dems over the finish line with their $3.5 trillion in extra spending, West Virginians will make him pay when (and if) he seeks reelection. Maybe, though, he realizes that his days are numbered regardless? Maybe he believes in the cause of more government? Anything is possible, but my guess is he'll vote the way the winds are blowing, locally and nationally. My guess is he'll insist, at the very least, on a huge excision from the Dems' spending plans.

  9. Dr. Waddy from Jack: A recent report says that Manchin has expressed an unwillingness to vote for anything more 1.5 trillion. That's a good start but that much still buys an awful lot of leftist pork (sorry pigs, I do love yuz). Schumer says he'll get together and get along with Manchin. I'd like to be a fly on that wall. New Yawk vs the real America - a classic confrontation perhaps. Go Joe!

  10. Jack, the question is: is the most that Manchin is willing to vote for greater than the least that the hardcore lefties are willing to accept? They may yet square this circle, but every day that passes makes it a little harder (because the Dems grow less poopular, and thus more fractured).
