Friends, while most of the GOP seems to have given up on reelecting President Trump, Trump himself seems as determined as ever! Remember our discussion of "extreme solutions" to the contested election? Well, recently Trump met in the Oval Office with General Michael Flynn, who has proposed instituting martial law in some of the disputed states and rerunning the election! Could such a thing be done? Needless to say, it hasn't been tried, so one knows for sure. The Left takes it seriously enough to be outraged by the suggestion, but since outrage is the Left's knee jerk reaction to everything, that isn't necessarily a meaningful development.
Meanwhile, only a slim majority of the American public views Sleepy Joe as the legitimate winner of the 2020 election -- a fact that doesn't surprise me in the least. It's all a question of where one gets one's news...

One might reasonably ask the question: if the Dems believe their own rhetoric about Republicans engaging in "sedition" and "treason", might it not be "President" Biden instituting martial law, or jailing his critics, starting in January? The shoe could soon be on the other foot.

In other news, the federal government is preparing to make our record high deficit even higher, by authorizing yet another COVID-related stimulus bill. Interestingly enough, it doesn't appear to include massive bailouts for cities and states, increasing the likelihood, as I've said before, that deep blue areas will soon face dire fiscal emergencies.
Take note that race and ethnicity are being considered as relevant factors in many states in the distribution of vaccines for COVID. There are some fears that vulnerable seniors could be passed over, in fact, because they are "too white".
Finally, it sure looks as though we'll be stuck with Governor Cuomo in NYS for a long time to come. Reports indicate that he isn't on Biden's short list for Attorney General. Of course, if Trump wins reelection, we can hope that Cuomo will be replaced by a military governor... I nominate General Flynn!

The chances of a military assisted coup taking place in this country are slim to zero. If riots and demonstrations got extremely violent and destructive in various areas, governors would be forced to call in National Guard units. Otherwise, that's about as close as we ever get to military action.

And, assuming Trump refused to leave office, the Left has made it clear that it would expect the military to haul him away. I would imagine Trump would expect the military to protect him from their "treasonous" gambit to do so. Could the military AVOID being dragged into a civil conflict? I dunno.

What's getting crushed here are The American People, who are being used as pawns for various power broker elites who could give a damn less about their general welfare. All of these elite assholes hold the general population of Americans in contempt while they engage in power plays. Disgusting does not describe what Americans have been put through in the last four years. More bullshit to come, with lots of damn lies on both sides, and more manipulation and social engineering by both sides.

I hope President Trump uses his pardon powers to protect all who face leftist vengeance for having insolently defied them in the last four years, including himself and his family. Why, need he fear excoriation any worse than that he has courageously faced already?He has done our country signal benefit, in a self effacing but confident manner which prodded the American left to put it's greatest weakness on full display - it's thralldom to emotion!

DeleteBut I am willing to bet that no matter who Trump pardons, The Left will go after a great many people (big and small) who they consider to be their enemies. You can call it a "purge" if you want. And you can be sure that Trump will be at the top of their list.
Ray, I agree that the American people are the ultimate losers in these political shenanigans, and yet I wouldn't hold the voters blameless either. They're as venal and contemptible as the politicians, in many ways.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more about General Flynn's pardon. It's, well, deplorable what happened to that man, and it was the beginning of the end of Trump's presidency, in the sense that, once they had decapitated Flynn, they were bound to come for the rest of us. Ray is right, of course, that pardons will only get us so far. The Left will be relentless and creative in its assaults.
