A Moment of Unity?

Friends, allow me to wish you a Happy Veterans Day, especially to those of you who are veterans yourselves.  Those of us who haven't served can only thank our lucky stars (and you) for the fact that we live in country where countless men and women are willing to put their lives on the line for the sake of our democracy, our freedoms, and our way of life.  We would be nothing without you.

My latest interview on the Newsmaker Show includes a reflection on the origin and meaning of Veterans Day, and in our "This Day in History" segment we also cover the forgotten carnage of the Revolutionary War, plus the Soviet Union's boycott of a soccer match against Chile in 1973, commencing the era of the politicization of sports (from which we continue to suffer today!).

In terms of current events -- and, yes, we've got a few of those on our plates, haven't we? -- Brian and I tackle the question of election fraud and the legitimacy of the 2020 election, next steps for President Trump and his team, the future of Nancy Pelosi, near-term and long-term prospects for the coronavirus pandemic, and more!

You won't want to miss this week's hard-hitting analysis.  Where else can you turn for accurate commentary, after all?  Fox News?  Ha!

  1. Thank you, I will let my husband know in regards to Veteran's Day.

Great Newsmaker, I agree, fraud will be difficult to prove. I am disturbed by the stories coming out in concerns to the topic of fraud; the post office, lack of election officials/inspectors etc. 2016 has not been forgotten by the dems hence why we have the issues we have now, just my opinion of course. Election interference is coming from the inside-not outside forces, again just my opinion.

The vaccine-There is indication that Cuomo is going to shut it down/our state (as an educator, you prob. have heard the rumor mill as I have too). It is so sad that our governor is politicizing this topic. I also think, jmo, that every American at some point will get this virus. You just can't keep shutting the country down. Even us folks who wear masks 8-10 hrs a day for their job(s). I think the truth is in the middle in reference to a mask mandate. I don't know how it will be enforced, because its just a mandate, not a law. (I can see Rod rolling his eyes)---look, I took various written exams in reference to my job and we can not stop you from shopping if you refuse a mask, period. Until it becomes law, of course, don't give Cuomo that idea or even the folks who are running this country. I look forward to that argument with Rod. wink

  2. Dr.Waddy et al: It's very plausible that Cuomo would take executive action to prevent the distribution of a vaccine obviously encouraged by President Trump's business savvy. And if some die? "Oh well, I'm already in dutch for the nursing homes". WWI; for what it's worth, I think it the salent event of the 20th century. It brought a devastating end to the optimism generated by the progress of human well being from 1800 to 1914. A little alternative history if you will: Germany takes very great pains to avoid sinking American ships and little by little starves England by Nov. 1918 with U-boat depredation. Woodrow Wilson cannot muster the political will in a country inhabited by many (Irish, Germans) with ill will toward "Perfidious Albion", to aid Britain and the Allies, under the massive German spring 1918 offensive and the Allies wilt. Wilhelm II is considerate of his fellow sovereign George V. He seeks no territory but demands of the Brits an abandonment of their centuries old resolve that no one power dominate Continental Europe. Their triumph cements the reign of the 2nd Reich. Opposition has no pretense and no chance. The Second Reich extends an authoritarian but not totalitarian rule over Greater Germany and a cowed France. Antisemitism is temporarily discredited in order to employ nuclear scientists, who respond to German patriotic sentiment to promote the 2nd Reich's drive to consummate military dominance. By 1945 Germany has perfected ICBMs and nuclear weapons.

  3. Good points about masking, Linda. I very much doubt it will ever become a legal obligation to wear a mask. Some businesses may choose not to serve the maskless. That's different.

Will Cuomo ban the "Trump vaccine"? I doubt it. If the vaccine works, only a fool would ban it. Is Cuomo a blowhard? Absolutely. But he's not a fool.

Awesome essay at alternative history, Jack! Yes, in retrospect it sure looks like Germany could have won WWI by keeping the U.S. out of it. The collapse of Russia gave them a golden opportunity. From that point on, history could have taken shape in some very intriguing ways. A nuclear-armed Imperial Germany fighting a cold war with the U.S.? Maybe. The role of Britain? Japan? China? Who can say.

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: You are right; my suggestion that even Cuomo would ban a Covid vaccine is insupportable. I've done Revolutionary War reenacting; having faced 800 redcoats (about the same number as at Lexington) I can imagine the terror of those about to fight them. Combat then was terribly close and brutal and when some native Americans were allowed what they regarded as their post battle due,as at Cherry Valley, hideous.

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Hitler, who had seen war at it's worst in WWI,was yet undeterred from launching all out war and prosecuting it with sociopathic willingness. We will have to remain strong in order to be ready to meet such monsters.

  6. Dr.Waddy et al from Jack: No doubt in my mind that the Dems would have taken the election to law had it not gone their way (as it were). "If elections empower us they are just; if they don't,they are by definition unjust" is their credo. They took action in 2000 when they saw a chance to steal the election and obtain the only "correct" result. Even they couldn't couldn't muster much enthusiasm in '04 for posturing Jean Francois Kerry with his laughable double barrelled shotgun deer hunting story; he sure gave himself away with that one as any deer hunter knows. And 2016? Well we all know about that one now don't we?So it is plausible that they played dirty in this one; we'll see: kudos to bulldog President Trump for reacting in kind. Richard Nixon declined to do so ,for the national interest as he saw it ,after Mayor Dailey and Joe Kennedy stole the 1960 election from him. Donald Trump is much more of a street fighter, as has been proven necessary with the shockingly anti American left and they haven't unseated him yet!

  7. Dr.Waddy et al: Incomparable American medical technology, manufacturing power and distribution and communications will ensure that a vaccine will be afforded us as fast as humanly possible. A key factor in this is the obvious business savvy of our first businessman President. He will have saved millions of lives by refusing to erect stifling regulatory burdens on it's development. Of course; he's a businessman and as such utterly outside the ken and or possibility of the approval of the doctrinaire minds of the left.

  8. Happy Holidays to everyone, in advance. Best of luck to everyone. Take care Linda, Jack, and Dr. Waddy.

  9. Jack, the men who fought for our independence in the late 18th century weren't just waving flags and parading down the street to public applause. They were risking their lives and their livelihoods for a principle...a principle that too many Americans are now willing to concede.

Jack, I agree: it remains to be seen how strong a case can be made about election fraud. What doesn't remain to be seen is how haughtily the establishment will dismiss any such claims. Probably our elections now are less corrupt than they were in 1960. Probably, but it depends on your definition of "corrupt".

Ray, Happy Holidays to you as well! We miss you terribly.

    1. I might be back sooner than you think, unless of course I am gunned down by the DemoNISTAS, or assassinated in some manner (character or otherwise), by The BLM (Biden Leftist Movement), or the Kamalist Youth Faction.

  10. Dr. Nick

I'm still recovering from those "literary farts" posted by Comrade Carveth.

Anyway, how about an article on what will probably happen if the results of the election are overturned in favor of President Trump?

  11. Oooo, that word -- Kamalist -- sends a shiver up my spine. I wouldn't like to meet a Kamalist in a dark alley...

What will happen if Trump gets reelected? That's interesting to speculate on. Lots of crying and looting, for sure. Many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners would be ruined. Beyond that, hard to say.

  12. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Naturally, not from principled doctrinal discourse but from reflexive leftist reaction!
