Eek!

Friends, you may be feeling as queasy as I am.  Last night when we went to bed (not together, you understand, but separately) it sure looked as though President Trump was in a commanding position.  This morning he's fallen behind in Wisconsin and Michigan, and no doubt the results in Pennsylvania will rapidly narrow as well.  I have a few thoughts.

First, the polls were wrong.  The average of national polls would have had Biden winning by 7-10 points, the Dems taking the Senate, and the Dems expanding their House majority.  None of that came to pass.  Republicans showed exceptional strength this election cycle.  We will almost certainly hold on to our Senate majority (thus quashing any immediate danger of court-packing) and expand our representation in the House.  Bully for us!  I'm dearly hoping that John James hangs on in Michigan, because if he does it's possible we will keep our 53-47 majority, which gives us a little margin for error ("error" in the form of RINOs like Romney).

Second, we were warned that there could be a "Red Mirage" on election night, and maybe there was.  Clearly, mail-in votes are being counted last in PA, and possibly that was true in MI and WI as well.  There's also a pattern emerging in almost all U.S. elections: the last jurisdictions to finish counting are usually the big cities dominated by Democrats.  Conveniently, this gives these cities a clear idea of how many votes they need to find in order to win an election.  Am I venturing into conspiracy theory territory?  Maybe.  We can be sure that the counting of votes will be scrutinized in this election cycle more than in any other, so, if there's malfeasance, hopefully we'll find it.

Third, the chances are obviously rising that this will be a contested election.  That means lawyers galore, and a starring role for state and federal courts.  This is not an appealing prospect, but it doesn't entirely fill me with dread, because I would rather have this election decided by federal judges than by, say, the Board of Elections in Wayne County or Philadelphia County.  We Republicans, in case anyone has forgotten, control most federal judgeships and the Supreme Court.  That's advantage: good guys, in case you're keeping score.

There's also a distinct possibility that this thing ends up decided by Congress.  It's Congress that weighs the results of the electoral college.  If there's a dispute and no one wins the electoral college, as per the House and Senate (and, thank heavens, we will still control the Senate), then the election is decided by the House voting by state delegation.  And (again, thank heavens) we just picked up seats in the House, meaning that the majority of state delegations we had before has almost certainly expanded.

So cheer up, compadres!  The game is afoot, and we Republicans and Trumpers are in it for the long haul.  My prediction: four more years of Trump, and ignominious retirement for Sleepy Joe.

Stay tuned!

  1. I expect this election circus to go into next week, if not longer.

But you know, even if The BidenISTAS win, his administration is not going to have an easy time. Why? Because all of those Americans who voted for Trump did not vote for Trump. What they voted for was to keep our Constitutional Republic as opposed to a "People's Democracy" and the transition to State Socialism. Millions of Americans will not suffer a Biden regime gladly! This is why I have hope for our future as never before.

So in a way, I am not going to be as upset as I thought I would be if Biden does win. In fact, a BidenISTA "victory" might be just the thing to motivate Republicans in 2024. Also, in 2024, I doubt that Trump would return if he lost this time. It will be someone else, and I'm thinking about Nikki and those of her stature. I also think the ObamaNISTAS are busy planning ahead for 2024, so they can get back in The White House and manipulate things again.

No matter what happens this month, the winds will start blowing again, and the leaves will start falling again. There is nothing any of these damn politicians can do about that. Which in the end, proves that God Himself is always in control.

  2. And of course if the election results drag out until say Thanksgiving, which they could, then the winners get to eat Turkey, and the losers get to eat humble pie, or something else even more unpleasant. Ha!

  3. Well...to say I am a little weary of all this would be an understatement. Amazing how the media has called things / states BEFORE the count was actually done (thinking Arizona).

Ray, I do believe you are correct, this will drag out, sigh. I agree, no matter what happens...the winds will start blowing again, and the leaves will start falling again, snow will begin to fall etc. Yes, God is in control.

How is your new job going?

    2. Linda, you know who called AZ for Biden first? The State TV network -- aka Fox News. AP called it after Fox News.

  4. Well said, Ray: nature's rhythms continue unabated, oblivious to the vicissitudes of mere politics. Life will go on...unless of course the Marxists decide to kill us, but even then our cadavers will mature into fertilizer, and new life will spring up! See: 2020 is a win-win. :)

It's a big deal that the good guys are holding the Senate. That means the fantasy of court-packing is a dead letter, and the Dems will be far less destructive in power. And, if we lose, 2022 and 2024 offer ample opportunities for a comeback. Nonetheless, let's not lose, huh? That's my preference.

I'm weary too, Linda! Everything is a struggle, and the war on Trump seemingly will never end. Even if he concedes the election, his problems are only beginning. The same could be said of America. The Left will never, NEVER be satisfied.

    1. I'm sure I have said this before, but I will repeat myself.
A large percentage of the war against Trump can be attributed to Hillary Clinton. She was purple with rage when she realized that she (and Bill) would never make it back to The White House, ever again. Reports indicate that when she found out that Trump had won, she had a temper tantrum that involved considerable profanity and throwing things, literally.

Had Hillary simply backed off, accepted Trump's victory with grace, and congratulated him, however insincerely, this war against Trump might never have happened, or certainly not to the degree it has.

Even if someone other than Trump had been running and beat Hillary, she might have acted the same way, simply because her dream of regaining power was destroyed. Hillary is the one who lit the fuse on the hate Trump frenzy The American people have been pounded with since 2016.

God forgives, but Hillary Clinton never does.

    2. Dr. Waddy, since 2016, the Dems have won back the House and now looked poised to take over the presidency. They will be poised to take back the Senate in 2022 when Burr, Rubio, Grassley, and Johnson have to stand for re-election and there's an open Senate seat in PA (the Dems have no vulnerable Senate seats in 2022).

BTW, there's still a possibility of two GA run-offs for Senate, which, if both went Dem, makes it 50-50 and VP Harris casts the tying vote.

Even if Dems have to wait until 2022, there's plenty to do -- getting a competent cabinet, managing a pandemic that had been grossly mismanaged, passing infrastructure legislation, protecting any more environmental erosion, etc. -- before deciding on whether to tackle any governmental reforms.

    3. COMRADE CARVETH

Thanks for your input and pearls of wisdom in explaining to us misguided right-wingers on how wonderful the DemoNISTAS are, and all of the great things they are going to do for this country if they win. Maybe you will be offered a Commissar position in a Biden cabinet.

      Keep that leftist propaganda coming.

  5. Dr.Waddy fromJack: Your optimism, well supported as it always is is very encouraging. It is vital that we keep the Senate so that the Dems' totalitarian power grab for Scotus is DOA.The federal judiciary would be Nemesis to a Kamalafornia administration's frantic drive for dictatorial sway. Thank God McConnell won; we need him! I'm glad to see what appeared to be the Virginiaization of Kentucky has been put to the lie. The state went big for the President. And our good Congressman Tom Reed once again sent a liberal packing, which is as it should be in an area as conservative as this. The real America went big for the President; it's alive and kicking and if we have to endure a Kamalafornia regency, which can be counted on for presumptuous radical outrages, we will have much to motivate us. TheDems' execrable onslaught on a good President will not be forgotten.

  6. A major problem with our voting system nation wide is that we have 50 different "sovereign" states that decide what their voting systems are going to be. And then counties in each state have different systems and methods. There should be a standard system across this country which would be overseen by states, but more streamlined and reliable so as to prevent any sort of tampering. Of course upgraded systems would certainly not prevent all fraud by any means, but they would decrease such greatly. States' Rights are great and all that, but a lot of that is catering to a system where such rights are on paper only, and not a reality. Changes need to be made to prevent this kind of national neurosis we are going through. The Constitution is great, but it is NOT inerrant and infallible.

  7. Rod, you're absolutely right: Fox News is in the tank for Biden! Thank you for confirming the omnipresence of media bias. ;)

Ray, Hillary may be a harpy par excellence, but I think the Left's war on Trump was always a done deal. These are people who demand total compliance...or else. They're almost as mean to each other as they are to us! Maybe more so. We may soon to find out.

Commissar Carveth: Your optimism re: 2022 is touching! If we've learned anything from 2020. and apparently you haven't, it's that reports of the death of the GOP have been greatly exaggerated. IF -- and it's a big "if" -- Biden becomes President, I believe Republicans will be poised to make big gains in 2022 and retake the House. Mark my words! Remember the Obama years and the staggering losses you experienced? There's more to come!

Quite right, Jack -- Republicans came out in force in 2020. At the state level our preeminence is virtually untouched. We may expand the number of state legislatures under our sway, in fact. And the Dems should realize that only searing Trump-hatred, much propaganda, and the sheer feebleness of Biden convinced many to vote Dem this year. Once you lefties show your cards, we conservatives will be sitting pretty again!

Ray, you make a good point about state and local supervision of elections. I believe in federalism...but I also believe in elections that all can trust, and at the moment we don't have them. No matter. Let ACB cast the deciding vote, I say!

    1. No matter what, in case The Bidenistas take over, I can get anti-depressants from my doctor. Of course I might need a cyanide capsule in case a People's Militia hauls me in, since I am an older White guy with noticeable Pro-Trump sympathies.

    2. Dr. Waddy, cute line about Fox, but it's really interesting that the TV network that is the PR shop for the Trump administration called AZ for Biden and neither CNN nor MSNBC has (even though conservatives claim those networks are in the tank for Biden).

No one said the GOP is dead. But, in 2017, the GOP held the House, Senate and Presidency. In 2021, the GOP will have only the Senate -- maybe.

There's no reason to think the House will see major gains for the GOP. First, with Trump out of office, the GOP is going to have an identity crisis. That is what happens with a cult of personality. When the personality is gone, what is your identity?

Second, as a political entity, Trump is sui generis. No U.S. political figure in the last 80 years has generated so much devotion from his followers and so much passionate disdain from his opponents. Trump will have the second most voters in American history. Trump's problem is that, as of tonight, more than 4 million folks voted for Biden, allowing Dems to take back WI, MI and PA, and probably GA and AZ as well.

In the worst case scenario, there won't the losses in 2010 where Dems went from 256-178 to 193-242. The Dem seats that could possibly be in play in in 2022 are about 10.

Third, once the Biden-Harris administration shows that the allegations of the Dems party going socialist were unfounded, and that there is a return to a sense of normalcy (as well as a respect for science and expertise), it is likely that the Dems will pick up House and Senate seats.

  8. Dr.Waddy et al: Yeah but the NY state Assembly will be graced by the addition of several "Democratic" Socialists of America newbies. Well the Assembly has been long since lost. But now we can expect an onslaught of AOC inspired totalitarian dreams. Thank God we have a lawful Scotus to protect the civil rights of the unwashed and unwoke. Real America, take heed and keep the faith, no matter what temporary setbacks we may face. Ray: I think a President Hillary would have discarded randy Bill in short order. What would she have needed him for? And she certainly wouldn't have needed him lurking in cul de sacs in OUR White House lusting for views of pulchritudinous interns. Her indictive man hatred ( yes,she was very much wronged by her ehhh, "husband" but she was wrong, very wrong to attribute his cadishness to all men. Of course it's convenient, yes?) Anyway, she was undoubtably resolved to prosecute to the full, from day one on, the prejudices which drove her. Silly Bill, interested only in getting high (what evah) would only have been in the way and she would have let NOTHING stand in her way! Donald Trump's moxie saved us from her vengeful onslaught!

  9. No matter who ends up in The White House, I guess the so called human race will be able to endure. After all, people survived Hitler and Stalin. Eastern Europe lived under Socialism for 50 years, and so on.

  10. Dr.Waddy et al fromJack: Its amusing to witness the presumptuousness of leftists, especially those from socialist lala land Ithaca, NY, attempt to persuade our very conservative Congressional District that they would or could "represent"us in Congress! Its really pretty cheeky isn't it. Imagine one of us running for Nancy Pelosi's or AOC's seat. You can be sure we would be afforded none of the courtesy our gentlemanly Congressman Tom Reed shows to pretenders while cordially showing them the door. Why, it makes one feel truly represented, not patronized as leftists are wont to do to their subjects.

  11. Ray, drugs are always the answer! I support you 100%.

Rod, good point that not so long ago Republicans held every branch of government. If there's one rule that holds almost all the time in politics, it's this: when you're on top, there's nowhere to go but down... I see you're confident about 2022. We shall see. You're right that Trump has generated huge enthusiasm. In that sense he would be missed -- if he were to lose, which of course I continue to deny is possible. :)

I quite agree, Jack, that, come what may, Trump saved us from Hillary in 2016, and he saved America from a left-wing SCOTUS, which would have been even worse. He also put trade fairness and border control on the public agenda as never before. All sterling accomplishments.

Ray is right: homo sapiens is almost as indestructible as the mighty cockroach. We ain't goin' nowhere.

Jack: like you I congratulate Tom Reed on his victory and if -- IF -- Trump loses, his chances of becoming Governor would rise, because 2022 could be a bad year for the "party in power", as per American political tradition.

  12. Dr. Waddy. PA and NV have been called. There's not a mathematical way for Trump to win those states. GA is a 9000 vote difference, so unless there is a huge surge in military ballots going for Trump (and the Military Times poll in August suggested that active duty service were slightly more for Biden than Trump) and all provisionals go for Trump, it's mathematically impossible for Trump to win GA. Recounts in WI and GA will only turn up a few hundred vote changes at best, not thousands. AZ is still in flux. Biden still has a lead, and it is not clear how many votes are left to count, and how many were "cured" on Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Rod, you're right about most of that, but in fact there IS a mathematical way for Trump to win: it's a little thing called "subtraction". Identify votes for Biden that were illegitimate, and remove them from the count, and -- presto! -- it's four more years of Trump. That would take a lot of evidence, needless to say, and a lot of backbone on the part of federal judges, but hey...2020 is a year of firsts, right?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Dr. Waddy. Theoretically, you are right. In reality, you run into the problem of evidence, of which there is none. Lots of baseless charges, lots of hearsay, but no direct evidence of the kind of voter fraud that would subtract enough votes to make a difference.

As for background, a number of judges are showing plenty of backbone -- by asking the Trump side to provide evidence and then kicking the lawsuits when there is none provided.

    Ain't happening,

    ReplyDelete
  15. So far you're right, Rod. We have a lot of allegations and not much hard evidence, besides statistical analysis. It takes time accumulate such evidence, of course. Either it will be forthcoming or it won't. I think we can all see that the GOP is wavering. Half of it wants to concede and be done with Trump, and half of it wants to fight on.
