Knives Out...For Swamp Monsters

Friends, today the Inspector General's report came out on FISA abuses and whether or not the investigation into Carter Page and the Trump campaign was a politically-motivated set up.  By and large, the report criticizes individual actions by DOJ and FBI personnel, but it doesn't conclude that the investigation was illegitimate or biased.  That's frankly not a huge surprise.  The DOJ doesn't often hoist itself on its own petard.  What's more interesting -- much more interesting -- is today's official statements from Attorney General Bill Bar and U.S. Attorney John Durham.  Durham is pursuing the criminal investigation into the propriety and the legality of the "spying" on the Trump campaign and the Trump administration relative to "Russia-gate".  If the Trump-Russia affair really was a politically-motivated set up, John Durham is the man who will find that out, and who will punish any wrongdoers.  Well, Barr and Durham are putting us on notice that they won't go along with the IG's whitewash of this scandal.  They believe that there's more to the story, and that the surveillance and investigation of a major party presidential campaign, and then of a president and his advisors, based on the "thinnest" possible evidence of alleged criminal conduct, is troubling.  Moreover, they strongly imply that the headlong rush in the Obama DOJ, FBI, CIA, etc. to believe the conspiratorial nonsense in the Steele Dossier begs the question of whether inflicting damage on Trump was the point all along.  Remember, Barr and Durham didn't need to issue any statement at all.  That Durham did so, and that he specifically called into question the "predication" of the inquisition against Trump, is big news.  It means, in a nutshell, that the forces of good at the DOJ have only begun to fight.  The Dems had better enjoy their impeachment sideshow while they can, therefore, because they may find themselves in the crosshairs very soon.

  1. Dr. Waddy: I agree, this is very hopeful news and thank you for posting it.The Dems are digging themselves an ever more cavernous hole. But we must not get overconfident and we must adopt the eh, decisive, attitude that Jack Dempsey had until the "niceties" of big time boxing caught up with him.Our opponents, like his in his early days, are utterly unprincipled and will do ANYTHING to win. BEAT THE OPPOSITION INTO THE GROUND AND KEEP IT ON THE GROUND should be the watchword we share with such as Dempsey and all those determined to fight for what they value! His hard life taught him that and if we do not heed the lessons taught us by the left's relentless 50+ year onslaught on all we cherish, we may have squandered an irreplaceable opportunity to put them on the canvas for good. They were ready in 2016 to do it to us, oh yes! They have unconquerable contempt and consummate disdain for the real America and would gladly impose their totalitarian dreams on us (witness, NY State).

We are getting good news and, I trust, will get some on Thursday from the UK. When we consider how close to complete disaster we were on Nov. 7, 2016, this is news which should excite our most resolute determination. We have the real prospect of saving our beloved country from the leftist curse which has so degraded our national life. We can become a country in which the rule of law and lawfully conducted and productive debate over policy is dominant if we but stay faithful and singularly purposed.

  2. I agree Jack. I also hope Durham is one of the good guys.

  3. I agree with you both. Linda, "hope" is the operative word. I think Barr and Durham are genuinely disgusted by the low bar that was set under Obama for rooting around in the campaign of the opposition party. Whether they can find instances of illegality is, I suppose, another question, although, if they were determined, they could just start interviewing every swamp monster in sight, and "process crimes" alone would land a fair percentage of them in jail. That's a level of ruthlessness, however, that no one on our side appears to possess... I'm afraid the verdict is still out, therefore, on whether anyone will be held accountable for the political hit job, a.k.a. the Russia hoax, that the Left unleashed on Trump.

  4. Dr. Waddy and Linda: The real America (those who believe our country, though flawed, to be fundamentally sound and just and not in need of "fundamental transformation")faces an existential threat from an enemyconvinced

    1. Jack, the enemy as we are seeing it the last few days/weeks is from within...and I have no doubt some sort of a deep state exists.

  5. Dr. Waddy and Linda: of the exact opposite and totally determined to impose its will by "any means necessary".

Can we remain above adopting their ruthless modus operandi (eg. hounding good men like General Flynn) and survive?

  6. Linda, I have not the slightest doubt that there's a "deep state" intent on perpetuating its own power and undercutting President Trump. Not all of this "deep state" is criminal, but the possibility that, as Jack says, some of its members will "stop at nothing" has to be taken seriously. I would encourage you both to listen to what Barr has to say: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/12/11/barr_why_did_the_fbi_keep_investigating_trump_well_into_his_administration_after_the_case_collapsed.html He's essentially claiming that the FISA applications were deliberately misleading and false. Surely that has to be a crime???

  7. Oh, I saw that interview, Dr. Waddy. Indeed, it is a crime. I agree, Jack.

  8. Dr. Waddy and Linda: It would be galling to see this good President impeached but in war you have to expect casualties. I'm confident he would survive and be reelected and that the left will descend into utter despair and madness as a consequence. Meanwhile, just waiting for the returns from the UK.

  9. May the Spirit of Boris be among you and remain with you always, Jack and Linda (no slight intended to the Holy Spirit, you understand)!
