Friends, Democrats think they're reclaiming the political high ground and that President Trump's popularity is "plummeting". Well, they aren't acting like it. In fact, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is taking a filibuster of the Republican-backed budget resolution off the table, meaning that House and Senate Republicans are likely to get a funding formula more or less according to their tastes. The alternative, says Schumer, would be a government shutdown that would empower Trump and Musk to make even more draconian cuts to the federal government. He has a point there! The upshot, however, is that the Dems are once again powerless to stop Republicans from enacting their agenda, bit by bit. An added bonus is the fact that Democrats can't agree amongst themselves on the proper strategy in this scenario. AOC is among those who insist that any appeasement of Trump and Republicans is a terrible mistake. Let's hope that AOC and her fellow Bolsheviks continue to speak with a loud voice and to lead the Democrats down the self-destructive path of unrelenting, scattershot Trump hatred.

Take note of the fact that Musk Derangement Syndrome has reached such insane proportions that Tesla infrastructure, including privately owned vehicles, is being targeted by vandals and arsonists worldwide. Not only does this portend serious commercial challenges for Tesla itself -- and thus your first Tesla might be obtainable at a bargain price! -- but it also suggests that the rift between the United States and its supposed friends and allies in Canada and Western Europe is large and growing. The Trumpier America gets, the more isolated it may become. Tariffs, in this sense, may be just the tip of the iceberg. Again, we'll know things are getting serious when X itself is banned by the EU. Just you wait!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: What a pleasure it is to see the Dem party fly apart of its own centripetal doctrinal extremism. My goodness, to think that Schumer could ever be perceived as a moderate! He's getting a little" long in the tooth" and tiresome in his trademark sneering and his disdainfully curled lip and perhaps he has finally been "woken" to the totalitarians he has succored for so long in the party he has done so much to disgrace. AOC does him reproof! That that should be at all notable , Charles, is due to your own particularly haughty brand of reflexive dismissal of any principle advanced by the champions of common sense. And like Marxists always do, they have found you extraneous and worst of all for a liberal of any era, IRRELEVANT, a no longer "useful idiot" Do you see the fire you have been playing with over your too long sojourne as a "lawmaker"; they are going down in political flames of their own making and they are taking you with them! And how richly you deserve it! You have been an intensely contemptuous opponent of the America which lies beyond your pinched New Yawk outlook. You have been one of NY's shames before an America sick and tired of NY's imagined superiority and an unwelcome imposition on our polity. You should abdicate.
ReplyDeleteCentrifugal not centripetal. Sorry. Jack
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: AOC accuses Schumer of empowering Trump. But Schumer is not stupid or an incompetent legislator. He probably rightfully perceived that to give DJT a government shutdown, which the GOP, which recently has swept all before it, would enthusiastically weaponize, would be unwise, if only for his personal power which he conceives is essential to leftist righteousness. But for such as AOC and those who admire her, emotion is ALL!
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Oh my, the European radical community has taken up the resistance to unbearable DJT banner! I stand with DJT; to hell with what still powerfully destructive European leftists think of us! And if their countries allow them to dictate policy, to hell with them too.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the only effect European radicals can have in this regard is to alienate Trump America and drive their governments to sharply increase defense spending. I'm sure lefties would abhor that !
What has Western Europe been since 1945, 80 YEARS ago? We delivered them from the indescribable
curse of Hitlerian Germany, and we protected them from brutish Russia. With the exception of the Brits, who I think would have stood resolutely against a Stalinist advance to the English Channel, they were utterly dependent on us for the unviolated peace which enabled their advance to prosperity.
If they now perceive a threat from a Russia which I think would nonetheless, not dare to advance against Nato, let them consider what cost they would pay for countenancing America hatred. They might well have accept full responsibility for their defense . They can do it. Especially now , after its humiliation by Ukraine, Russia's conventional power is not as dangerous as most thought. Nato can beat them. As for nuclear power, would a French or Brit nuke on Moscow do less damage than an American one?
Dr. Waddy from Jack: So, what's up with Prince Cuomo, he of the cavernous mouth, Napoleonic ego, unabated chutzpah and maybe. . . unlimited ambition still!
ReplyDeleteHe is said to have a real shot at the NYC Mayoralty. I feel sorry for the many common sense people in the city that that might actually happen.
Apparently he retains his lofty, pedantic personal style in public. But oh the disingenuousness; I mean here is a guy who thinks he can make anybody think anything. Reportedly he is talking tough on crime and when he gets to pontificating, better bring some oxygen because his massive maw will suck all of that precious substance out of the ambient atmosphere.
We who worked in NY state Corrections know him of old ; on a timorous visit to a NY maximum security joint he was treated cordially by "the (incarcerated) guys". And, well, it moved him! "Gee, they aren't so bad are they". All of us who worked in prisons knew this type well, a credulous soul who wanted to think the best of these unfortunately inconvenienced victims".
So, he put his "enlightenment" into action , he surely did. "Why havva haht, if a lifer has done 15 years and is 55, well give 'em a break, let 'em go, give 'em another shot at life in the world! "he said with the bug eyed imperious sincerity for which we know him so well. Of course among his subjects are many victims of these erring lifer delinquents and , well, they cannot get a reprieve from their graves, just saying. "And yes , lets close alot of these prisons because, after all, if I say something is not a crime then it is NOT a crime, see!" (One must always put ! after any of Prince Andrew's expectorations ). "Same with bail," he says " and even though my 'favorite' people, the police, saw one of them doing an unwary citizen to great disadvantage, still, there are always two sides to a disagreement!" "Give 'em the benefit of the doubt, except of course if they are nonetheless lawful gun owners caught in the slightest unforgivable violation of my exalted, public safety ensuring gun laws, especially if they have dared to use a firearm to thwart a 'criminal' "!
That is the proven Cuomo and it reveals his staggering contempt for the voting public, even in tragically lala land NYC, that he thinks he can represent himself otherwise now. Why would he even attempt such a disingenuous ploy ( and apparently he is testing out other disingenuous Clintonian preemptions , stay tuned).
So what is his game? Only such unlimited self adoration could motivate anyone to advance such deceit: maybe he thinks he has a political future, for which the Mayoralty is just a step and if not, well , that's a pretty good gig for his old age and his self esteem. The field is open in NY and it may be open at the 2028 Dem convention, yes. "Trump came back, so can "Oi!"; its no more unlikely than his just lucky comeback !"
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I could not get the site to allow me to post comments on your next posting, which included the Newsmaker 3/15 broadcast, so I'll do it here:
ReplyDeleteThe rural Steuben Co.(NY) Sheriff preceded you on the broadcast and expressed support for the NY State Corrections Officers who were fired for striking to protest unendurable working conditions and his opposition to our redoubtable Governor's order that they be denied any other of maybe some public employments, including, significantly, as County C.O.s in common sense NY counties where law enforcement is respected.
When I worked in NY's prisons 20 years ago, the liberal dogooders who have recently enacted severe restrictions on the use of SHUs (Special Housing Units, sometimes called "solitary" though it usually isn't solitary anymore) ), which isolated vicious troublemakers: why their ignorant and law enforcement hatred inspired stricture would have been UNTHINKABLE! What the hell else do the officers have to disincentivize criminals from acting out like, duhhh, CRIMINALS?! It took an inmate uprising (because as all who have worked in corrections know, if you give inmates something,eg. removal of fear of the SHU, you have hell to pay; they will ALWAYS demand more!)
As leftist radicals, who consider vicious criminals to be victims and the law abiding public to be their victimizers, tighten their hold on NY state gov't , the word has gotten out to the criminal world - "not to worry, these chumps feel guilty about charging us for our crimes. Go to it!" Believe me , I saw it first hand: criminals love far left suckers.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Re: the hopefully eviscerating disempowerment of the Federal Education Dep't. You would think the radicals(nominal Dems) who have puppetized our obtuse Governor would welcome it. It would cede to them far more latitude to turn our state's public education system into a statewide far left indoctrination camp from which our children would return daily hating us ever the more. Look at the monstrous political degradation worked on our kids in America's radical captured "universities"already.
ReplyDeleteWithout the Federal Education Dep'ts dictatorial far left command, state education dep'ts in common sense states will hasten to end radical usurpation of our children's still forming minds. In NY, the unfettered radicals will run wild unless the Federal administration takes them in firm hand as it did the education systems of several southern states in the '50s and '60s.
And I don't mean "in hand" by an always hopelessly compromised husk of a Federal Education Dep't. DOJ maybe? Jack
ReplyDeleteJack, Chuck Schumer has always struck me as a truly awful "face" for the Democratic Party to show to the American people. He was always smug and physically unattractive. Now he's geriatric to boot. It amuses me to no end that his fellow Democrats may do to him what he so recently did to Sleepy Joe!
ReplyDeleteJack, there is great irony in the fact that Trump's contempt for Euro-socialists, and Europeans' widespread contempt for Trump, are both working together to achieve the same result: the realization that Europe must from now on take responsibility for its own defense. What was unthinkable even in Trump's first term is now "common sense" in his second.
Could Cuomo become a viable contender for the Dem presidential nomination? It seems incredible, but he's a talented (and ruthless) fellow, and Trump has already proven that one need not play by conventional rules to win the game... I wouldn't count him out.
Jack, you make an interesting point that ending the Department of Education could produce an even "woker" education system in blue states. I tend to doubt that. The current federal education bureaucracy isn't much of a check on wokeness, I daresay! But you're right that federal supervision of schools will always be required, on some level. For one thing, presumably even children have constitutional rights...
