Friends, in some ways, media efforts to gin up a recession are bearing fruit, but one card the doomsayers won't be able to play is a government shutdown. It ain't gonna happen, thanks to a small number of Dems, who decided it wasn't in their narrow political interests to cause one (the interests of the country, of course, were a secondary consideration). This is a victory for Trump and Republicans, but economic headwinds are becoming considerable, AND we mustn't forget that the country hasn't had a recession since 2008-2009. That means that we are, historically speaking, overdue for one. Again, a recession isn't inevitable, but we right-wingers should start to think about how one might play out, and how we can minimize our political losses, and maximize our gains, should one occur. Needless to say, we would also want said recession to be as brief as possible, which many are.
These questions and so many more are explored in this week's Newsmakers show. Do make it a point to tune in at your earliest convenience:
RAY TO DR. WADDY
ReplyDeleteSeems to me the country goes through this government shutdown scare every year, no matter who the president is. In any event, even if it did shutdown, for however long, I dare say most Members of Congress would continue doing just fine. Most MCs are well heeled anyway.
Dr. Waddy from Jack" Re the Newsmaker broadcast again: The legislative process is always slower than executive actions and our GOP Congress has already made significant progress in the CR it just passed funding the gov't for awhile longer. There is provision in that for the redirection of Federal fiscal policy to common sense after the dems' onslaught on the taxpayer.Charles Schumer is regretfully aware of that.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Antiamericans petulantly exiting the country; all the better for MAGA . But they will get little satisfaction in other lands; their dominant perfectionist impulses will soon move them to excoriate their new havens for their human imperfection. Might even get 'em in trouble over there.
ReplyDeleteNewsom; I wish him well of his comically disingenuous incipient conversion to common sense. He will in this be a very useful foil for the faithful radicals; furious opposition to his perceived apostasy could produce much support for unwavering far leftists also seeking the nomination. The Dem nomination of an outspoken radical would of course be greatly to our advantage.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Sans Governorship or Senate seating, fur the luvva, what does Buttigieg have going for him?! Beats me. If Secretary of Transportation is a path to the Presidency then Sean Duffy might make us a good choice, but Mayor Pete?! And Walz; conceivably his bumbling selection cost the Dems the election and brought upon them the catastrophe, the long dark night, in which they are deservedly now sunken. His "regular guy" ploy, which was about as believable as Jean Francois Kerri's ignorant deer hunter guise, was laughably dismissable. His firm leftist Gubernatorial record easily put the lie to it. So why is he wasting his time out on the hustings now? "Once you smell the marble, you won't be worth a hoot" an old Washington hand was once quoted saying to a frantically ambitious newcomer.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: In principle I agree, it was regrettable to witness the lack of decorum wafting from the dem side during the President's speech. But it was an expression of an undeniable reality and perhaps its best that they openly display their juvenile petulance for an unredeemed public to witness in full.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Today CNN described how Schumer is postponing a book signing tour of a book on antisemitism. The reason is described as concerns about security.
ReplyDeleteA commentator speculated that it was the widespread hyperbolically negative reaction among dems to Schumer's perceived betrayal in voting for the recent continuing resolution which averted a "gov't shutdown". My my ,are they THAT outraged ? Or perhaps that vote isn't the only reason for their resentment toward their longtime leader in dissemblance and perhaps dangerously overweening hatred of DJT.
Now Schumer would never promote a book in any way defending antisemitism(I say without rancor) but his dem party does display an "unfortunate" ehh, tolerance of Jew haters in its caucus. It has been mostly unwilling to express condemnation of activist campus Jew haters and the "universities" which harbor them. Could those obvious antisemites be part of the concern over his security on a prospective book signing outing?
Dr. Waddy from Jack: These antiamerican far leftists who have captured the Dem party, they sure are vindictive toward any Dem who doesn't toe the line. Surely though, if they were to gain the totalitarian power they seek they would chill out and we would all be free of concern for our personal security under their elite rule. Why sure!
ReplyDeleteRay, "shutdown fever" seems to grip the nation SEVERAL times each year. We could more or less remove that worry by abolishing the filibuster, of course... We could accomplish a lot if we did that.
ReplyDeleteJack, I personally don't think Tim Walz did the Dems much harm, and I see little evidence that he did them much good. He's a colorless, vaguely likeable character, which isn't a ringing endorsement, but is more kind than anything I've ever said about Kamala!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: But , his presence on the ticket denied it to another candidate who could have been more helpful, eg. Shapiro. Then again, its a maxim that the VP selection doesn't decide the election. I disdain apologetic "good ol' boys" who engage in leftist virtue signaling and scolding.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: You are right; I believe a GOP Senate majority could abolish filibuster. Though there always is the caveat "what if we end up in the minority?" perhaps this is the time to cast that aside. We may have a once only opportunity to destroy the neo Marxist curse which so disgracefully saddles a Dem party which, despite its present subordination, still has the potential to destroy America as it still fully intends to do.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is at civil war with antiamerica. In any war it is vital to know when to push forward, to take decisive advantage of favorable developments , to keep up the potentially overwhelming pressure and WIN. The ending of the bizarre 60 year old far leftist assault on our good nation is in our hands if we will but be relentless, NOW!
Jack, I doubt that Shapiro would have made a substantial difference. Harris was too weighty an albatross.
ReplyDeleteQuite right: we MUST adopt an aggressive posture and aim to finish off the Democratic Party, in its current form, for good, because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate.
