Götterdämmerung

Friends, in a sign that the complete collapse of civilization is nigh, Fox News has axed its most popular commentator: Tucker Carlson.  Of course, leftists have been trying to torpedo Carlson for years, but it now appears that they've won over Rupert Murdoch, who alone has the power to end Carlson's tenure at Fox.  Presumably, this cements Fox's status as the network of, by, and for RINOs.  It is, in other words, where prominent and outspoken conservative voices go to be...silenced, in the event that they offend the progressive masters of the universe, which they surely will.  How will this affect the overall media environment?  Will Fox survive as a right-leaning network?  Will other conservatives networks, like Newsmax, grow stronger?  Will pluralism, more generally, survive the propaganda and legal offensive that the Left has undertaken against its enemies, using character assassination and "lawfare" on an unprecedented scale?  Only time will tell.  As for Tucker himself, my guess is he'll land on his feet.  Ah, but where???

In other news, Robert Reich thinks that Trump should be barred from running for president because he's a "traitor" guilty of "insurrection".  Has he been charged with or convicted of either?  Nah.  But the January 6th committee says it, so it must be true.  What's more important here is that some local and state election officials may be crazy enough to take Reich's arguments seriously, and we can't take for granted, therefore, the notion that, if Donald Trump receives the GOP nomination in 2024, he will be on enough state ballots to win the White House, even assuming that the American people want him there.

  1. Dr.Waddy from Jack: I do disagree with an evaluation Fox as Rino. I'm still happy with almost everything I see on Fox. I'm sorry Tucker Carlson was released. He is every bit as fiercely partisan as the leftists at MSNBC and the obsequious three traditional networks. He was a thumb in the american leftist eye and showed, appropriately so, withering contempt for the left fully comparable to that of the disdainful left for us.. But I'm satisfied that Fox is still essentially conservative

and that it says what the real America wants to hear.

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: People like Reich are quick to condemn the Second Amendment as inappropriate for our time. Dang but I don't know of many Confederate leaders still alive, especially ones who plan to seek office. The section of the 14th amendment which disenfranchises insurrectionists was aimed at people somewhat better proven so than the Jan.6 ers. Treason eh? How about honored dems like Jane Fonda, William Ayres and Slick Willy? Ooops!

  3. Jack, that's interesting that you're sticking with Fox. I agree: it is conservative and right-leaning, most of the time. It's also an expression of the vanity of the Murdoch family, and a reflection of what the establishment GOP wants people to hear (and be angry about). Enjoy Fox, therefore, but make sure you get some of your news elsewhere, because there will be some big holes in Fox's coverage.

Personally, I don't care for the casual use of the term "treason". Treason is a capital crime. Unless you plan to charge someone, and convict them, of that crime, then it's best to use less colorful language. That's my two cents.
