New York, New York (It's a Hell of a Town)

Friends, say what you want about the "Big Apple", and it's always been an acquired taste, but today America's biggest city itself took the first bite out of Donald J. Trump, its former resident.  Frankly, I'm amazed it took Trump-hating prosecutors this long to charge Trump with...something (or, rather, anything, because they really couldn't care less what the charge is just as long as it makes them look like Trump-slayers).  In any case, the lefties are likely to get what they most want out of this "case": a news cycle that, for the next 18 months, ignores all issues of substance and focuses relentlessly on Trump-related drama.  It's called misdirection, and you're about to get a truly massive dose of it.  Fortunately, if you've been an observer of the mainstream media for long enough, you may have developed an immunity by now...

In other depressing news, the liberal Democratic candidate for Supreme Court Justice in the state of Wisconsin won, meaning that elections in that state will be even more questionable, and in all likelihood it will be open season on fetuses, gun owners, and other bête noires of progressives.  What's really disappointing about this race is how little energy and money Republicans and conservatives put into winning it.

Lastly, the far-left candidate for Mayor of Chicago also won, meaning that that benighted city will slide further into anarchy and wokeness.  Chicago's only hope, and that of most deep blue cities, is a blank check from the federal government...which may indeed be forthcoming, as long as Democrats run the show.

"In other depressing news" is a perfect description of what we have been getting for years now, even when Trump was president. Bet if I stopped watching all and any news until next year at this time, I would still get the same BS when I tuned back in. Bet you by 2024 Trump will be out of the picture, and if the DemoNISTAS don't "rig" the election, we will end up with some RINO president. Can you recommend any place I can go to escape this insanity? How about Ghana? Ha!

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Wisconsin can of course expect a firestorm of cases the purpose of which are, not to construct and enforce democratically establshed law, but to accomplish far leftist political fiat apparently not workable through their elected legislators due to its counterintuitive nature.Gov. Scott Walker's tenure gave fairly recent proof of strong common sense politics in that state and the state's agricultural ambience suggests significant repugnance to leftist presumptuousness and incipient dictatorship. How would be for us if Scotus Justices were popularly elected to set terms?

Nothing personal, but does the NYC DA have anything on you? You know, stuff like pissing in front of an NYPD Police Station at midnight in Brooklyn, while intoxicated, and possible public exposure charges as witnessed by a woman walking her dog in the exact same location. So if there is anything we don't know about, fess up right now. Got it?

  4. You're right, Ray. America is lurching towards self-destruction, and those of us who thought that Donald J. Trump could turn it all around look pretty darn naive in retrospect. Is there anywhere you can go to dodge the bullet of Western Civilization's demise? Hmm. It really depends on what's important to you. Can you forgo, uhh, liberty, by which I mean the right to participate in free elections, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to speak your mind, etc.? If so, then the future might not be so bleak. I still believe that our material circumstances are among the best any human has ever enjoyed, and are likely to improve, despite what the ecological doomsayers claim. And maybe, just maybe, Ray, democracy has always been a game of shadow puppets anyway. Maybe all the consequential decisions have always been made by elite a**holes, and maybe they always will. In that case, Ray, sit back and enjoy the ride, or else become an elite a**hole yourself, and then you can move rubes like me and Jack around the board like tin soldiers. Imagine the fun you could have!

P.S. I haven't been anywhere near NYC for decades, as far as I can recall, but then again I take so much meth that it's hard to keep track.

Jack, I expect the Wisconsin legislature is about to get a powerful object lesson in "judicial review"! That's assuming that Wisconsin's legislators are even allowed to legislate, mind you. The new and improved state Supreme Court might decide that the current legislative map is so heinous that they need to start from scratch, and pronto!
