Sleeping Dragon

Friends, this week's Newsmaker Show covers some truly weighty topics, like the degree of danger posed by the buildup of China's People's Liberation Army, the (convenient) elimination of AM radios in electric cars, the growing campaign of personal destruction aimed at Democratic Party renegade RFK Jr., the vulnerability of the Biden Administration to charges that it is "soft on China", the Chicoms' projection of the power of their secret police onto American soil, the firm resolve of French President Macron in the face of leftist street thuggery, the stakes of Dominion's lawsuit against Fox News, and the role of A.I. in safeguarding the interests of the Deep State.

Holy moly!  Can you really cover all those scintillating topics in just 20 minutes???  Yes, you can -- and, yes, I did!  Listening is believing...

In other news, SpaceX's massive new "Starship" failed to reach orbit, but Elon Musk was still pleased with what it accomplished in its first launch, and he's confident that it will someday soon take us to the Moon, to Mars, and beyond.

I continue to be amazed that Joe Biden and the Democrats' poll numbers are holding up as well as they are, given the decline in Americans' real wages and real incomes in the last two years.  Usually, economic pain damages the party-in-power, but the Dems seem to have found the magic formula for redirecting the attention of their base away from its own impoverishment and towards...threats to "democracy", the rise of "fascism", rampant white supremacy and transphobia, and other fairy tales.  You have to hand it to the Dems: they know how to make half the country swallow whatever swill they're pitching.

Lastly, Fox News's historic legal settlement with Dominion is fascinating, in itself, but Fox is not out of the woods yet. Smartmatic also has a lawsuit pending against the cable news giant.  Plus, both companies are still pursuing lawsuits against other conservative journalistic organizations.  The bottom line is that conservative news companies are very exposed to legal threats and leftist "lawfare", as it's being termed, and frankly so is everyone who gets in progressives' way.  Donald Trump is just beginning to feel the wrath of the Left's vast assemblage of lawyers and prosecutors.  My guess is that this strategy of suing and prosecuting their enemies into the ground is just in its infancy.  Expect a lot more legal action in the years ahead.  And, just in case you're wondering, will left-wing news outlets ever be held legally or financially accountable for all the misinformation they peddle?  Ha ha ha ha ha ha!  Please!  That'll be the day.

  1. In a libel case, you have three things to prove -- the claim was false, the claim caused economic damage, and that the claim was made out of malicious behavior or reckless disregard for the truth. In the Dominion case, the first two elements were already settled before the trial began. Given all the texts and email evidence, it would have been pretty easy for Dominion to prove the final element.

    The so-called "left-wing" news outlets would only be held accountable if all three elements of libel were satisfied. Good luck in proving the falsity of, say, the Trump-Russia relationship.

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Re: the reported incompatibility of AM radios with electric cars: is the left crafty enough to push electric cars in order to destroy mostly conservative, highly consequential talk AM radio? They certainly harbor requisite malice and disingenuousness! Eg. "the environment" and in "gun control", for them the end object is arbitrary totalitarian power, not squeaky clean prosperity or suppression of violence. They want unquestioned leave to decide any issue according to their then present momentary whim, since they think they are by definition just. Ahh, the marketplace will take care of the AM radio in cars situation. The left would be pleased to destroy talk radio by any means but this will not do.

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I have seen the Chinese Navy referred to as the People's Liberation Army Navy, same with their Air Force.If this extension of eligibility for the draft is meant to increase the size of their forces it may be intended for other branches in addition to the land forces. The utility of a large Chinese land force doesn't go far beyond the Eurasian mainland. They would be hard put to put a massive land force in Taiwan, which is the keystone of the island and sea barrier (Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia ,Australia and ultimately India plus the US Navy)of which they may be very wary. They have no experience;
    even American forces got a bitter lesson in amphibious operations early in WW II before they excelled. Perhaps because this extension of draft eligibility is for university students (in China generally a hard working no nonsense lot) the purpose is bring more maturity and technical prowess to their forces. Perhaps also it is to keep some young intellectuals( a possible source of unrest) in line. Just draft 'em! Re: the catastrophic Red Guard of the '60s. Your assessment ofChinese aggressiveness is correct I think, including your caveat about an economic downturn. I think though, it would have to be a really bad one. There is much living memory of Chinese destitution and well founded gratitude for the miraculous and redeeming prosperity so widely enjoyed now.

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: The left considers any disagreement with them, any action contrary to their convictions or any doubt of their unique fitness to rule to be by definition UNJUST! That automatically makes any such insolent offense subject to WHATEVER means floats their boat.

  5. I'm not sure who made that first comment, but it has all the markings of a Rod-ism... Welcome back, Rod!

    I don't concede any of the points you made, Rod. We've only seen a carefully curated selection of texts and messages designed to make Fox look bad. Is airing doubts about election machines a form of libel? Is airing any news story or commentary about which news editors have doubts "libel"? I doubt it. The standard for libel is pretty darn high in this country. Anyway, we'll never know, because the case was settled. Plenty of other cases, against Fox and other outlets, are ongoing, by contrast. We'll see if Dominion or Smartmatic are able to win any of them.

    Anyway, the point here is that a CAMPAIGN of lawsuits is being waged against conservative media outlets and personalities in a bid to destroy them. Fox, today, may have buckled to that pressure. They won't be the last to do so either.

    Jack, I would suspect that the lefties would like nothing more than to drive a stake through the heart of talk radio, but failing to install AM radios in new cars won't do the trick. Conservatives can listen all they like online. That's why the news organizations themselves, and their most popular hosts, must be destroyed root and branch, and we're seeing the first steps in that direction.

    Good point, Jack, that the Chinese almost entirely lack military experience..except insofar as they were very adept at losing to Vietnam. My guess is they won't be picking a fight with a "peer" anytime soon. They might, however, start with a pushover...
