The Border That Wasn't

Friends, while the Dems wring their hands and clutch their pearls re: the great "insurrection" of '21, Americans with their feet on the ground are worrying about real problems like inflation, crime, and illegal immigration.  That's right -- I said "illegal".  This CBS News article is filled with useful info and statistics about the current wave of migrants, but they prefer the term "unlawful" to "illegal".  It's a little softer and less...racist, I guess.  It still walks right up to the line of suggesting that, kinda sorta, not every single one of these migrants is a gift from God to the good ole USA.  Slightly heartening is the fact that even the Biden administration is deporting some migrants, although it's letting in a boatload, and presumably many of those expelled simply try, try again.  Oh well.  It was nice having laws and borders while it lasted.  It was nice having a currency too.  Nothing lasts forever!

The Rod Squad may still be clinging to hope, but based on her own actions -- avoiding her home state during election season in favor of hobnobbing with the Beltway elite -- Liz Cheney has seen the writing on the wall and knows she's going to lose the Republican primary in about a month.  That's baked in at this stage.  What's more interesting is this question: what will Cheney do after she loses?  Will she run as an independent?  Has the Biden administration got a golden parachute ready for her (ambassador to Bhutan, perhaps)?  Will CNN give her a primetime show?  I can't wait to find out...

Does Dr. Waddy have any profound and quotable thoughts on the problems of inflation and food insecurity in the U.S., you ask?  Of course he does!  Check out this Sputnik News article:

Finally, the race for the premiership in the U.K. is heating up, and I can't say any of the contenders excite me much.  Are there any Trump relations left in Scotland?  Maybe they could ride to the rescue...

The United States of America has NEVER had a secure border with Mexico. No, not even under Trump and his "peek a boo fence". A secure border is a totally militarized border in this case, BECAUSE of drugs, illegal weapons, potential pandemics, potential terrorism. What we need is a "Maginot Line"! Our chances of getting a really secure border are slim to zero, BECAUSE there are way too many politicians, north of the border, federal, state and local ON THE TAKE, period. Got to keep those drugs coming don't we?

  2. Ray, I agree, to a point, but I also think we can achieve border security, to a point, with or without full militarization of the border. There are two keys, if you ask me: one, are border-hoppers permitted to stay? If so, they'll keep coming. Two, are border-hoppers permitted to work? If so...you know the drill.

You know damn well that one of the reasons our current regime has opened our Southern border wide to just about anyone who wants to come here, is BECAUSE, they think these people will end up voting for them, that is if they can figure out a way to make them legal voters. How about we call that Program "Border Ballots for Biden". In any event, a lot of these border bouncers are needed to do cheap landscaping for our elites, both RIGHT and LEFT.

  3. RAY HERE to Nick I'm sure you remember that at one time for a long time, people from points South, (mostly Mexico), came through the legal points of entry, legally, and then were told to show up for a court date and so on. Well, they never showed up. Why bother, they said. So we have millions of technically "illegals" living here, literally. Okay fine, maybe (hopefully) most of them are productive citizens.

But what we have now is a cartel controlled Mexico, with more drugs than ever coming across. Add to that illegal weapons, increased human trafficking, loads of people from other countries who just slip in, more gangs from Central America, potential terrorists, potential carriers of new pandemics, and so on and so on.

This is WHY the border needs to be militarized. But as I said, it is probably not going to happen because too many of our own politicians are "on the take." Very sad state of affairs.

That fence that Trump yapped about and built in part was okay, but it could be blasted through after the patrol schedules were figured out. So NO Nick, the only logical solution is an "Iron Curtain" type border. This is an international border, so that job could be given to our Armed Forces. Any other solution is NO solution, and is just plain bullshit!

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: In my opinion, Ray is right both in perception of the threat and in urging of the solution. I can't add anything to what he has said aside from saying: we need a Federal Chief Executive with the backboneto do what is necessary. Let us lend those wretched of the earth by their own governments and those governments'unwillngness to stand against the amoral, subhuman criminal cartels ,our military support in combatting these sociopathic monsters. But our immigration must be lawful, for our national life! If we are subverted by subhuman gangsters, what hope have those who understandably seek to participate honorably in our well being?

Thanks for the kind words, seriously.

Doubt if we will ever get a Chief Executive who really wants to solve this problem by establishing a distinct militarized border. It could be done, for starters, by ordering units of the U.S. Armed Forces (all services) to permanent duty on the border with Mexico.

We also need to freeze ALL legal immigration from anywhere (except in extreme cases) for at least five (5) years, so the INS can catchup.

Those legal ports of entry between the U.S. and Mexico also need to be closed down frequently. Will this get done? The answer is NO, sadly. REASON: $$$$$$$$$$$$ in lots of pockets.

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: UK: I have little grasp of what is most important to UK voters: Tory candidates appear to be taking traditional Tory positions. Does the UK have its RINOS, "TINOs" I suppose? As long as the cradle of democracy and the world font of Western Civilization is not usurped by the disdainful far left, as almost happened before glorious PM Thatcher came to the rescue, I think the "Sceptered Isle" preserved!

  6. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Your always well supported and creditably expressed positions must give me pause when considering your assertion above approx. " did Biden cause inflation? No... ". You have qualified that view very well but my inclination has been to say that Biden, in thrall to his far left handlers, purposes forceful correction of a perceived inclination to deny conviction of overwhelming WANT in America to a population supposed smugly dismissive of need in America. Why, he'll teach them won't he?! Kumbayaa 1965 to the max!

  8. Dr.Waddy from Jack: I meant above: The leftist directed Biden administration means to present Pino Biden as a courageous opponent to those who would say there is no want in America. The real America wishes only to deny public supportfor those who cynically demand it despite their refusal to live positive lives.

  9. Ray -- sure, the Dems expect most of these border-hoppers to become Democrats (or at least their children will). There's no question that the demographic transformation of America that's transpired over the last 40+ years has been broadly favorable to Democrats, too. Not as much as they expected it to be, however, and remember that they had many of the same expectations in the early part of the 20th century as well. The Dems know what they're doing, but in the final analysis their assumptions about "brown" and "yellow" people are racist, and people don't always fall so neatly into the cubbyholes we've prepared for them.

Ray and Jack: to his credit, in the final phase of his presidency, Trump did, in fact, freeze all legal immigration, and he largely stifled illegal crossings too. What he never did was crack down seriously on the illegals already here. What would his policy look like in a second term? I dunno, but if he had a pandemic or a depression to work with, the American people and/or Congress might actually support vigorous action. Otherwise, I suspect our scruples would get the better of us.

Jack, you and I are thrashing about in the same verbal thickets, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
