Sweltering, Are We?

Friends, no doubt you've seen and heard the latest from the virtue-signaling elitists on climate change: the "world is on fire" (!!!), and it's your fault, because of that Chevy Suburban you rented for a road trip to Sioux Falls back in '87.  On this week's Newsmaker Show, I confront the climate alarmists head on.  I don't deny that climate change is real, but I argue that its effects need to be interpreted in a more balanced and realistic way.  A slightly warmer planet isn't a planet that will cease to sustain any and all life, much as the climate change ideologues would love to make you believe that it is.  Once we dispense with climate fanaticism, Brian and I also tackle "President" Biden's senility tour in Israel and Saudi Arabia, which seems to have convinced more than a few Dems that it's time for him to pass the torch to someone still capable of holding it upright.  We also discuss Vladimir Putin's trip to Iran, and what it means for the future of global affairs and Western dominance (such as it is).  We conclude with further discussion of the machinations of the January 6th committee, the parliamentary gymnastics of Mitch McConnell, the future of NATO, and what the agenda of a Republican House of Representatives should be, starting in January 2023.

Man, oh man!  We didn't even have time for "This Day in History".  That's how action-packed this week's show was...

Tune in today!

Here's an article that presents compelling evidence that "climate change" is less than apocalyptic.  Judge for yourself:

Well, Boris Johnson has given his last speech as P.M., and apparently he thinks his legacy will be defined by his pandemic fascism and his up-to-the-hilt advocacy of Ukraine's cause.  Now I'm convinced: it was high time for him to go!!!

And, in yet another sign that the economy is wobbling, the demand for mortgages has sunk to a 22-year low.  Given the importance of the housing market, and the fact that mortgage rates are destined to rise considerably higher, the future looks mighty bleak!

  1. Dr.Waddy from Jack Re, the Real Clear Politics article: Polls show overwhelming indifference to climate change.Very many, especially in the Southeast and Southwest know all about sweltering weather now don't they? One would think they would add to the miniscule poll performance of those for whom "the climate" is existentially important
and yet not so: surely their presumed outrage would jack up those poll figures, yes?

  2. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Now were you to gauge only those elitists whose AC benefitted settings afford them objectively detached, emotionally propelled positions (eg Jean Francois "Kerrie"in his fuel guzzling AC blessed jet) you would of course obtain poll resulting in supporting, well ,for example, Pino Biden's predicted "climate emergency"./

  3. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Well of course, that is counterintuitive EXCEPT when one considers long since historically proven far left reasoning, intent and action! Ask NYers, Californians, Russians, Chinese, Cambodians, Ethiopians, Bulgarians, Cubans, Vietnamese. . . they know.! It is: to empower "brainy" elites with conveniently totalitarian power to dictate ALL policy and governance down to the very individually personal level Today they seek the power they believe radical environmental measures will afford them to take EVERYTHING under their patronizing wing. Eg.their ostensibly temporary arbitrary sway during the pandemic gave them an irresistable taste for power beyond that "suggestion" it gave them then.Eg. NY Gov. Hochul's Cuomoesque renewal of her "emergency" Covid powers.

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Your notation that heat waves do not correlate with measured Co2 emissions is insolently intolerable to the radical left. It completely disserves their use of putative existential climate change, unprecedented mind you, in documented meterological history even before humanity, for comprehensive forced far leftist political, economic and social change! Yeah well, we do remember the 20th century with its theretofore unimaginable monstrously enacted leftist totalitarian abominations, justified then by then promised irrefutable far leftist dreams, carried out with sociopathic resolve!!!

  6. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Thank you for your plausibly qualified praise for Mitch. He's a damn good man, true to himself and he has done signal, yeomanly good for the real America.

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: As you know, I consider closer "convenience "between Russia, China, India and Iran to be a pausible possibility. I think it could be an overall salubrious development BUT it was very perceptive of you to suggest this could allow Russia to sustain its assault on Ukraine. What do you think of this reopening of the flow of Russian gas to some Western European countries?

  8. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Good point about heat benefitting many species. And are not these environmentalists replete in their ranks with humanity hating defenders of 3 inch fish against many thousands who have lost good livings by threatening the well being of these piscatorial paragons? So what if global warming melts all the ice and inundates the planet? Why if the whole world becomes all ocean, must needs the environmentally fronting left rejoice! Do they not cherish the canard that "humanityis the curse of the planet?
The oceans teem with life, all of it virtuously non human!

  9. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Why, could it be that humanity hating environmentalists do value human life ( but probably only their totalitarian voluptuary lives - right Al Gore and Jean Paul Kerrie - actual Presidential hopefuls -)?Then what about their antipathy to the technology (including reasonably clean and very abundant, natural gas, which preserve the present advance of civilization to levels of well being heretofore unimagined by even the most perceptive of redeeme d sages. The dreamers would have us embrace ONLY their unproven theories and if we doubt, would gladly crush us, after their proven leftist wont! Oh yeah, some of good will do buy their flights of fancy but those credulous folks would be duly disempowered by the totalitarians who see environmental concerns only as a path to their complete command of all human affairs, public and "private"!

  10. Dr.Waddy from Jack: You are very right in maintaining that understandable Russian fear that, to the West, the Cold War is not over, is paramount in Russian perception of their security. It is a fact that Nato has advanced t o Russia's very borders and now into terribly strategically important Sweden and Finland! How would we the US, the essence of defense of a Western Europe a vast cold ocean away from us, have regarded the Warsaw Pact on our Canadian and Mexican borders?!. Russia has suffered, in living memory, the worst invasion ever forced by one nation by another and that by Germany, now a key Nato member! Russia does not, by its present, yes inhuman attack on Ukraine, ,mean present threat to any Nato country. But it does thereby declare "Ukrainian membership in Nato is absolutely unendurable to us. We have painfully endured Nato advance to our frontiers but we will countena nce no more. Let our national sacrifice in Ukraine, motivated only by our self defense, prove to you our resolve in this!". Is Nato truly resolved to face such determination? Can it?

  11. Jack, I must say, the atrocious polling performance of climate alarmism surprises me, because, for the leftist elite, it's an issue of top-tier importance. Clearly, all that propaganda isn't getting through to the masses -- or, at least, it's failing to convey any genuine sense of urgency.

Your comparison of the "climate emergency" to the "COVID emergency" is apt. The latter did indeed give the elites a taste of absolute power, based on absolute fear, that intoxicated them. A heatwave just doesn't terrorize the public quite like a killer virus, though. No doubt they're brainstorming ways to increase our collective sense of menace. It's their speciality!

What do I think of the Nordstream pipeline running at full blast? I think it gives Russia more revenue, and Europe more reason to tread carefully. Like it or not, Russia and Europe need one another. That's why this war was senseless from the outset, if you ask me.

Is NATO as resolute in supporting Ukraine as Russia is in invading it? The question answers itself. NATO is built on hot air. Russian military might has its limitations, but the Russians, at least, are willing to hazard it. When was the last time most Europeans countries did THAT??? 1945, of course. A lifetime ago.
