Another One Bites the Dust

Friends, even though I'm currently on a good will tour of West Virginia, I couldn't resist posting this breaking news story that affects many of you profoundly.  Western New York Conngressman Chris Jacobs, who is currently my Congressman, has decided not to run for reelection, because he -- precipitously and inexplicably -- came out in favor of gun control, and his constituents were not amused!  On one hand, this is a shame, because Jacobs seems like a fine man and a good public servant.  On the other hand, our constitutional rights are important, and we want, as conservatives, to be represented by men and women (and people of innumerable other genders) who share our values.  Chris Jacobs, it appears, had spent a little too much time in the Swamp.  Now he gets a chance to refresh himself in the open spaces of WNY and reconsider what really matters.  We wish him well.  We also ask the obvious question: who will take his place???

Very relevant to Jacobs' demise is my latest contribution to Sputnik News, which relates to the issue of gun control/gun rights.  See what you make of my perspective:

  1. Dr.Waddy from Jack: I live in the district in which Mr. Jacobs would have run, which was new to him because of redistrictIng.Let the instantaneous overwhelming rejection he received for his expression of support for an "assault weapons" ban and other virtue signaling controls, serve as a lesson to anyone presuming to toy with the real America's dedication to its 2ndAmendment rights EVEN in leftist plagued NY. We will NOT TOLERATE being held responsible for abominations we did not cause!!!And if our comprehensive knowledge and lawful use of firearms were not sneered at by disingenuous demagogues, we could have helped to prevent such tragedy.

  2. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Pino Biden's public lamentation over cries of "do something" begs the question: what!? HARDEN THE SCHOOLS! NOW! It could be done overnight using the National Guard and then volunteer School Defense Aides, garneredfrom the law abiding gun owners and veterans we have in all communities. Deploy them immediately at every school! "ooooo but that would be ICKY bleat the touchy feelies".My answer to them: it is the amoral , "anything goes" ambience purposely advanced by the destructive "American" far left and YOU, its cringing apologists, who give sociopaths the license to do present heretofore unimaginable mayhem!

  3. Dr.Waddy from Jack: assault weapons were developed after WWI and WW II experience affirming that most troops were most effective with firearms capable of selected automatic fire (one trigger pull, continuous fire) A cartridge LESS powerful than those used in WWI
was adequate because of the volume of automatic fire. Plus, the soldier could carry much more of the much smaller cartridges on his person. A rifle cannot be an assault rifle (which is by definition military) unless it has full automatic capability: that's flat! Full automatic rifles are virtually illegal, NOW, throughout the US. The "assault weapons"the disarmers would ban are civilian models such as AR 15s (a soldier's gun is an AR 16) which look military or police butcannot fire any faster than Grampa's semiauto (one pull one shot only)bird or target gun or his 30.06 WWII earned deer gun. Those who would incrementally destroy all our Constitutional rights are misleading those ofgood will by deliberately misusing the term "assault rifle"because they cynically intend to scare and mislead. If you were to arm our forces with civilian AR15s they would be terribly outgunned. So when leftists say"we must remove the' weapons of war' from our midst, they lie because those are already ILLEGAL! Since they lie on this, on what else do they presumpuously misrepresent??!!

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Here is where they BS! First, in Grampa's day semiautos were freely owned and sociopathic outrages had not the insane frequency we suffer now. Semiautos are not the problem! The rock bottom, fundamental intent ofsuch as Schumer are to politically discredit gun owners and our awesome effective democratic organizations such as NRA because: we support office holders and candidates CONSERVATIVE on a wide range of issues beyond gunrights. Why of course we do! We know that single issue campaigns are weakened thereby and besides, we are all real Americans! The Schumerites forlornly hope that if they pass gun bans, gun owners will be politically discouraged! They are comically wrong, so wrong!

  5. Jack, I'm pleased that, by Jacobs' departure from the scene, "real Americans" like yourselves who live in his prospective district now have a much greater chance of receiving genuine and faithful representation in the House of Representatives. You deserve nothing less.

I appreciate the primer on "assault rifles", Jack. It comes as no surprise that the Left's use of the term is cynical and misleading. The Dems are consistent: they want gun control -- ANY gun control -- that they can get passed, and that will serve as precedent for much more sweeping restrictions in future. The more honest among them admit that their long game involves a government monopoly on the use of firearms and, in fact, the use of force.

    1. It matters not what the gun control gurus do or don't do. Sorry, that sounds cynical, at first glance. However, criminals will ALWAYS have weapons, to include all of the nutcases who like to shoot up malls, grocery stores, and schools. Any decent persons who wants to own a weapons to protect themselves will probably be able to get one from the thriving black market that is already in existence. Finally, lots and lots of sane people who saw the gun control bullshit coming long long ago already have the weapons they need stashed here and there for rainy days, plus under more than a few pillows. So let the gun control ass holes legislate all they want, the American people (good and bad) have already found a way to beat the gun control system. After all, the same Americans found ways around prohibition that the same breed of assholes thought up 100 years ago and made a profit from, as I recall.

  6. Dr.Waddy from Jack: June 6, Dday; a time for reverence for our WWII vets living and passed! I met a WW Il vet in a store today and thanked him for saving the world and providing my shamefully too many ( not nearly all ,thank God)ungrateful boomer contemporaries with our 1950s childhood - the best time ever to be a kid!. Thanx for surviving the Depression, winning the war and DOING RIGHT by us! You ARE the GREATEST GENERATION!

  7. Dr.Waddy from Jack: With characteristic emotion and detachment from reality, our one party dem NY state legislature yesterday passed long since proven counterintuitive gun control acts over which criminals will surely tremble and resolve to join the lawful citizenry! This in frantic reaction to widely publicized mass shootings when weekly mass shootings (sans AR 15s) in inner cities (like NYC)garner little notice from the gun grabbing left! And our reflexively leftist Governor, when signing them declared"if more is needed, it will be enacted! " Why of course it will be. The disingenuous "American" left fully intends an incremental destruction of our gun rights by enacting in law measures they know will fluff, so that they can continue to turn up the heat on Constitutionally lawful gun rights advocates and practioners! Why? To get us out of the way of their takeover!!

  8. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Oh yes, I trust the real America will make Pino Biden to know in Nov. that his far leftist handlers have guided him onto a political REEF! A good old friend of mine who lives in Idaho says people there have finally realized that their real America state government cannot fully protect them from (hopefully temporary) Federal meddling in such as their cherished gun rights. Sorry Biden and NY; Westerners delight in teaching their kids about GUNS! And they do it through teaching and practice IN THE FIELD! And if you.East Coast touchie feelies don't like that, STEP OFF, because we will support them even in the many real America areas of the East and especially the South.

  9. Dr.Waddy and Anonymous from Jack: But here is the problem: leftist ruled NYS gov't is obviously determined to hamper, discourage and eventually abrogate, ownership of guns by law abiding NY taxpayers. Vital to that is instilling fear of prosecution in any law abiding citizen who uses a fully legal firearm for self defense, especially against a member of a "protected group" ( a term which does NOT designate law abiding citizens as "protected") An attorney who specializes in defense of gun rights said: "if you use your legally possessed weapon, EXPECT to be out ten grand for legal defense in NY" When one must fear for one's very possible esconsement in Attica among the gentle souls there resident, that is a plausible deterrent to one's use of it in circumstances which often give one instantaneous decisions to make. I know of an honest businessman , carrying much money, who defended himself from physical onslaught but was faulted thereby by a jury which apparently expected him to seek legal advice before shooting an attacker who loudly declared his very harmful intentions after a fender bender. That man was foaming at the mouth after sentencing! My first act as NY Governor would be to pardon that man or at least afford him clemency and that indemnification which might in some way comfort him!

  10. Dr.Waddy from Jack: New NY gun control laws: they were summarily passed after recent publicized(but regular outrages in inner cities) mass shootings As such they may be hastily and ill considered. Eg. denying anyone below the magical age of 21 purchase of any semiautomatic. The extremely left 9th Federal Circuit (one level below Scotus) told even California " sorry, that is a no no". No doubt even NY dems knew that but they said "ehhh, so sue us!"" Then they declared that ANY NY citizen , be they 2 1 or 101, must have a "permit" , described as equivalent to NYs present laboriously acquired handgun "permit" which is widely expected to be presently struck down by our now law abiding Scotus, to buy (and they hope soon "to own" )any semiauto, including Grampa's semiauto bird or target gun owned without offense since the common sense 1950s.

  11. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Now why would they do this? First: to serve as groundbreakers for the US, an intention they have trumpeted, for blame of lawful gun owners for "gun crime", in laws ever eroding 2nd Amendment rights. Second, since the certain legal challenges to their semiauto laws may result in injunctions or even Federal disempowerment before the Nov. midterms they so dread, they may think to enrage their leftist and leftist apologist base to turn out in Nov. and mitigate their consummate rejection! Real America: be completely confident: the gun grabbers hold NYs gun laws as an inspiration for that which they FULLY intend to FORCE on you, if you allow it! We are outvoted in NY by the amoeba on the Hudson, lala land NYC,you are not!

  12. Ray -- I think that's you, Ray -- I agree: there's no danger that America will give up its guns. There is a danger, though, that the most law-abiding gun owners will be forced to do so, and they will thus be made defenseless against all the criminals who will still be armed to the teeth. Frankly, even in countries where gun rights have been totally abolished, those who truly want guns can obtain them. But in a way this issue is just the left versus right battle writ large: to be a leftist is to indulge the fantasy that heaven-on-earth can be created by legislative-bureaucratic fiat. All their schemes are doomed from the start. They just haven't figured it out yet.

Jack, that's awesome that you got a chance to thank a WWII veteran! We will talk in tomorrow's Newsmaker Show about how few of these treasures remain, and how few Americans understand, much less appreciate, the value of their sacrifices.

Jack, any prohibition on semi-automatic rifle ownership among 18-21 year olds ought to be a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act AND the Constitution itself. The problem, as you say, is that the federal courts and SCOTUS would have to dedicate themselves full-time to the defense of gun rights to slap down these nefarious laws as quickly as the Dems can pass them.

Good point, Jack, that the right to keep and bear arms means little if the right to self-defense is abrogated, or regulated into oblivion.

  13. Dr.Waddy et al from Jack: Prohibition is a good analogy for gun control. It was well intentioned and well motivated by extensive alcohol misuse, especially among those very many engaged in 12 hour days of unremitting labor, even on the production line. In the early 20th century, their readily available mitigation was from alcohol, freely consumed even on the job! But the old lady at home with kids indulged only at the risk of complete personal and family ruin. Nevertheless, Prohibition was counterintuitively contrary to fundamental American culture; its failure was inevitable! Imagine continued Prohibition in the Depression and WWII! No way!

  14. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Likewise, the complete gun control sought by the left, which seeks justification in horrid and leftist emphasized and selectively publicized, abominations, would fail. Guns are FUNDAMENTAL to the real America. If enacted, leftist intended gun control would meet civil extralegal resistance sufficient to doom it to collapse just like Canada's futile gun registration government campaign. Canada: a gunowning and far more overall lawful nwtion than the US, just plain refused to have its guns registered in obvious preparation for fully leftist intended confiscation. Thanx, Anonymous, for making the Prohibition /Gun control analogy.

  15. Dr.Waddy from Jack : The guy I described as having been wrongfully convicted for defending himself was sent to ATTICA! I've been in there several times and believe me, some of the inmates there could make the s---t run down your leg. The majority of prison populations are committed criminals for whom prison is an occupational hazard. But for otherwise lawful persons jailed because of leftist ruled states' determination to discourage lawful gun ownership: for them , prison is an absolute personal catastrophe!!! I have seen it first hand. They are thrust into the close company of unrepentant criminals who, well, ACT like criminals despite their esconsement in "Correctional Facilities".

  16. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Understandably then, the widespread, justified perception among lawful gunowners in leftist polluted, criminal excusing states especially like NY andCa, that they face such counterintuitive ,unjust and shattering risk, most certainly IS a disincentive and an enervating fear, to defend themselves against consequently empowered thugs! And that is just what the "American" left seeks in its determination to empower criminals in the destruction of America, prior to its very forceful, gun enabled, takeover!

  17. Jack, as I'm sure has already occurred to you, our modern wrinkle on Prohibition is the law that forbids 18 to 21 year olds to drink...which we all know has completely eliminated the problem of underage drunkenness! I expect a similar record of success to be achieved by modern efforts to separate youngsters from guns.

Jack, that is a vivid demonstration of the Left's moral calculus: heartless repeat offenders are allowed to walk the streets, while ordinary citizens with the temerity to defend themselves are locked away. My guess is that the case involving the man you cite became a cause celebre, and thus the Left simply had to have its pound of flesh.

  18. Dr.Waddy from Jack: His attacker was from Olean Ny but the incident happened in nearby Buffalo. Never heard a thing about him after he was led off. To my knowledge no further attention was paid to his plight. Ruthlessly ambitious DAs, anxious to score political points ,are sometimes the reason for such hellish injustices.I do not know who was responsible for his having been charged. It was maybe twenty years ago.
