Friends, the $64,000 question is: will Ron DeSantis run for president in 2024? It's looking more and more like the probable answer is yes. The next logical question will be: if he does run, will he do so in a combative, offensive way -- going after Donald Trump directly -- or will he try to sidestep negative campaigning and keep things bright and optimistic? Up until recently, DeSantis has been very disciplined and determined to avoid any fracas with Trump, but it looks as if, based on his recent interview with Piers Morgan, the gloves are finally coming off... As a Republican, I fear what this could mean for the party. Frankly, I think DJT would be willing to burn the party to the ground rather than cede the presidential nomination to someone like Ron DeSantis. On the other hand, there may be no way to beat Trump except by...out-Trumping him? I'd be curious to know your thoughts on how DeSantis ought to handle this herculean challenge.

ReplyDeleteQuite frankly, I don't give a flying f*k at a rolling doughnut how these two egotistical, self-centered politicians go after each other. What I do care about is that whoever wins and becomes president saves this country from becoming a complete Leftist dictatorship. Actually it is already a Leftist dictatorship in large part with their control of the media and higher education, plus a few other areas. The best they could do, if it does not happen before they take office (if they do) is to prevent a war and economic collapse. Otherwise, the U.S. is essentially done morally and spiritually, socially, and culturally, for starters. So out of the entire population, we only have two people who are qualified to the Republican President. That's it? Getting real tired of this bullshit, while a substantial "silent majority" of the American populace have to suck the bag while a bunch of egotistical assholes feud with each other.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: DeSantis should be and no doubt has been, frank with himself and his advisors about why he is running. If his chief motivation is to be President "someday" , tactically his best choice is to support President Trump and thereby inherit Trump nation after the four years he would have to wait, win or lose in 2024. But if he is convinced that six more years of far leftist misrule could assure complete leftist triumph in the near future and he is convinced that President Trump will be defeated again, then he must run, against President Trump if necessary.
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Ray. I don't care about Trump and DeSantis's feelings either. I'm just realistic about the fact that the media wants to damage both of them as much as possible before next November, and we, sadly, might help them do it.
ReplyDeleteJack, reading the tea leaves, it sure looks like DeSantis has decided that he can and will run and win. Now, does he think Trump is a no-hoper destined to drag the GOP down into ruin? I dunno. Trump certainly has that potential, but many have predicted his demise and that of the Republican Party before, and been dead wrong.
