Down with the Bourgeoisie?

Friends, there are some great stories out there today that really got my creative juices flowing...  For one, take a look at the rise of Elizabeth Warren.  She'll be serving as the matronly voice of conscience for many progressives over the next four years.  Among other things, she wants a "wealth tax".  That means that millionaires and billionaires would be paying a tax of, say, 2% on their total assets every year.  It's been tried before elsewhere and wasn't a great success.  It's also very unlikely to make it through the House or the Senate.  The point, then, isn't so much that a wealth tax could come to be -- it's that it would be DELIGHTFUL to watch the Dems wrestle with the issue.  There's simply no way that the Democratic Party could come to a consensus on whether to stick to the rich, when so many rich people are major contributors to the Democrats themselves!  This is just one of the fault lines that will help bring the Dems down in the years ahead.

In other news, it's one step forwards, and two steps back, for our old friends at Fox News.  They've fired Lou Dobbs, who was one of their most pro-Trump hosts, despite his high ratings.  Fox is supposedly trying to win back conservatives, in the wake of their election night betrayal.  Well, moves like this won't help.  I've steered clear of Fox since Nov. 4th, and I have no inclination to return.

Trump's legal team in the Senate apparently plans to use the "But you did it first!" defense.  They will argue that Trump's "incitement" on Jan. 6th was actually much milder than language used by Democrats themselves when half the country was in flames back in the summer.  Rand Paul is pointing out this hypocrisy too.  It's a great line of attack.

This story is really something.  A Los Angeles Times op-ed writer was triggered when her Trump-supporting neighbors plowed her driveway for her.  I mean, talk about a passive aggressive act, right?  Her "torment" in dealing with people who dare to think differently than she does mirrors the fragility and sanctimony of so many progressives!  Maybe she'll get a Pulitzer for her whining?

And on the opposite side of the country, the New York Times isn't showing any better judgement.  They fired a journalist for using a naughty word in the context of a discussion about naughty words.  Cancel culture is really getting cranking these days!  But this is good news, in a sense: when it's lefties themselves that start to get cancelled, and actually that's been happening for a while now, the media might start taking cancel culture seriously as a problem.  And eventually the Left will run into the same problem that Stalin did with the Red Army.  Once you've shot everybody, there's no one left to salute you...

Lastly, everyone is wondering about Trump's next move -- no one more so than Trump himself.  Apparently the wheels are turning down in Palm Beach.  Trump will reappear on social media, for sure.  It's just a question of where and when.  I'm more than a little curious, because, whatever platforms become the new centers of conservative thought, I want to be on them.  Parler?  Gab?  Telegram?  Trumpbook?  Tritter?  Trumpazon?  Troogle?  We shall see!

  1. Trump on social media to do what? Tell people that the country is already Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition (FUBAR)? How many Americans are too dumb to realize this without Trump's help, as he sits in his luxurious surroundings and tells us what we already know. There are plenty of books out there that have been telling us for many years how fucked up our society is, and why. So buy a damn book on the subject, and read it. People have been writing books for many years about what will happen without a secure border with Mexico. Lots of books warning us about how ruthless the People's Republic of China is, and on and on. Read a damn book!

    1. Yep...been screaming at the top of my lungs to anyone who will listen; READ A BOOK and stop Googling everything. Google is NOT the answer to everything-they are controlling the info coming in and going out.

  2. Dr.From Jack: This impeachment and trial are a cynical, disingenuous, purely partisan power play by Schumer/Pelosi/ Kamalafornia. The reckless hypocrisy which motivates it is breathtaking in its presumptuousness but is fully to be expected leftist overreach consequent to their crushing electoral landslides. For President Trump's team to emphasize their disdainful lack of good faith is an appropriate tactic in the continuing existential fight with an American left frantic to dominate and dictate!

  3. Dr. From Jack: People like that oh so sensitive LA ingrate should not be patronized or soft pedalled . John L. Lewis famously said "they smote me hip and thigh and right merrily did I return their blows!" These fashionable reflexive Trump haters must be introduced to the realities of the leftist"realpolitik" they
so casually advance. The real America has caught on and if you fey dilettantes really want in to this fight, then gird your political loins!

  4. Dr. Robert Jeffress, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, says one of his major concerns about the impeachment trial, is "that once the acquittal comes, half the country will refuse to accept it, giving Democrats the ammunition they need to continue their relentless attacks on the former president. This will be akin to continually picking at a scab, ensuring that it never heals."

  5. Dr. From Jack: Yeah, the way I see it now, there are the progressives, the dogooders, and I would put Warren in their company now. They want change but not too much change, because it could bite them. Yes, marginalize those reprehensible " real Americans" but leave us "enlightened", leave us be. But on the other side of the Dems are the deadly serious radicals who purpose nothing less than the complete destruction of America and its enforced replacement with a totalitarian leftist junta. It's exemplars are the squad and Comrade AOC. That they and their ilk should have ANY influence in our national life is appalling but there it is. It may even have captured the Presidential pretender. It is between these factions that the fault line will manifest itself space and I would not see the advantage going for the fiddling dilettantes against the aspiring Pol Pots! After all who could have predicted the shocking degradation of the Dems party over the last 50 years? It ain't over folks.

  6. All of what is happening now could have been avoided had Trump conceded the election to Biden in November, called Biden and congratulated him, and started the transition rolling. Trump could have made that one last speech as he departed for Florida on January 20, 2021 warning the American people of the pitfalls to come.

Clearly, there were "irregularities" involved in the election, and it was correct to call them to the attention of the public, but to let the results stay in favor of Biden with a strong protest would have been the best way to go. The events of January 6, 2021 would have been avoided completely, and certainly this impeachment trial.

If the above situation had occurred instead of what actually happened, Trump would have had a lot better chance to make a comeback in 2024, and the country would be ready for another Trump presidency after all the disasters that are going to happen before 2024 during this administration.

  7. Clearly what is happening now is unconstitutional, but the results of this 2nd impeachment will determine Trump's future, and not the fact the the entire ongoing process is unconstitutional. Those who are determined that everything is constitutional, no matter what, might just convict him tomorrow or before the end of this week. The next step after that will be to have Trump arrested and imprisoned. Sound far fetched? Maybe so, but don't count it out. Anything can happen these days. Even if Trump is acquitted tomorrow, you can be sure that his enemies will find someway to destroy him. But no matter what happens to Trump, a Republican will run for President in 2024, and one of the items on the platform will be the unjust treatment of Trump, who will by then have become a martyr. That, combined with out of control immigration, a possible war with China, and runaway inflation, plus massive unemployment will ensure a Republican victory on 2024. But don't forget that another Republican President do not have to be Trump, but a true Republican committed to all of the things Trump did for the country while he was president.

  8. Every single American ought to be afraid right now-by this sham impeachment, the gov. is telling you whom you can vote for or not. This is no longer about free elections, etc. Tyrannical gov. is the new norm. Did you see that article that Adam Schiff was talking about the rule of law? Seriously, thinking about this all day yesterday...Getting a history lesson from Adam Schiff (in reference to James Madison and British history) would of been better if he cited an example of a FORMER President of the United States being tried at any time in the 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21th centuries. There isn't one. And this man Schiff wants to be AG of California? Good luck--to which I am sure he will be.

You can not try a former President. Again, reiterating, every single American ought to be afraid by this fraud impeachment of a former President/ private citizen. I can see/hear Rod spinning his wheels now.

  9. Hi Linda.

What's going on is a testament to how very afraid The DemoNISTAS are of Trump, and from the very beginning of his administration in 2016. What he did is put a stop to their plans to turn The United States of America into a Socialist country. Things were already underway beginning with The ClintonISTAS in the 1990S, followed by Bush (a RINO in many ways), and under full steam with the ObamaNISTAS. Then The ClintonISTAS thought they would be in the White House again. Along comes arch-enemy Donald Trump, who wrecks their plan/agenda. They were purple with rage. Now they think if they make him ineligible to run again they can continue with their plans to create a Socialist State. That's the bottom line on all this.

But you know, they must be stupid to believe that they can actually do that. A real Republican is going to come along and change the course of events again, and it does not have to be Trump. It was Trump who set the standard for what a Constitutional Republic should be, but Trump is not immortal. Also, that next "Republican Messiah" needs to be someone younger.

  10. Ray, I would certainly concur that Trump isn't the fount of all wisdom, and people would be well advised to gain enlightenment from something longer than a tweet. And yet... If they followed your advice and read a book, there's a good chance that they'd read a book published by a major book publisher, and of course they're in league with the neo-Marxists. In fact, I'd wager that the people who read are more "progressive" than the people who don't. So maybe we need to convince people to STOP reading books? Ha ha. I won't go that far, but just remember that information is only as good as its source.

Jack, I fully agree: attacking the credibility of one's accusers is, at least in politics, a brilliant ploy (since they're not likely to have any). Personally, I do regard the trial as plausibly constitutional -- you can impeach a ham sandwich, right? -- but that doesn't mean that I think Trump is guilty of the charge. Far from it.

Ray, sure -- the Left will never accept the legitimacy of Trump's acquittal. In fact, in their eyes, the GOP's refusal to convict Trump will only confirm that all Trumpers are traitors -- and all traitors are Trumpers. Until they throw our representatives out of Congress, though, their hurt feelings don't count for much.

Jack, you describe the stakes in the coming civil war in the Democratic Party very aptly, especially for those of us sitting on the sidelines. As long as Biden reigns, I'd say we're relatively safe. With Kamala...I dunno.

Ray, it's true that in some ways Republicans would be better off if Trump had conceded back in November...but on the other hand if the election really was "stolen" in some form, I'd say we had an obligation to fight tooth and nail to try to overturn that. Plus, you just have to look at Trump to know that "going quietly" was never in the cards.

Ray, your martyrdom scenario for Trump is plausible. The knives are out for him, and they may even "get" him, in some form. If so, and if they continue their persecution of all who think differently than they do, there may well be a perception that the Left is constructing a tyranny. I doubt there will ever be many tears shed for Trump himself, but when they come for the Trumpers -- our friends, family members, and neighbors -- America might sit up and take notice.

Linda, I believe this trial is nakedly political and baseless in terms of the facts. I don't believe Trump engaged in any form of speech that isn't common among politicians, and nor did he have any expectation of fomenting a "riot" or an "insurrection". Be that as it may, if impeachments of federal officials have occurred after they've left office before, why not again? Remember, the bar to convict is very high. The Dems will fail -- yet again. In that sense, Trump himself will be free and clear. Plus, think of all the fun we could have impeaching Pelosi, Schumer, even LBJ and FDR (why not) once we retake the majority ourselves... Impeachment and Senate trials are officially, from this point on, political theater, a.k.a. farce. Still, I'm not convinced it violates the Constitution to go through the motions.

Purple with rage -- good imagery there, Ray! Yes, Trump may be obsolete, but Trumpism is here to stay. Whoever carries its banner most credibly in 2024 will have my vote.

  11. Dr., And all else (this disdainful machine refuses to recognize the abbreviation I used before): I fully expect the next misuse of impeachment to be directed at one or more lawful Scotus justices. We can expect the reckless, blindly self assured and self righteous left to continue building overwhelming resentment of its high handed tactics, which could well redound to its defeat in both 2022 and 24. They have NO mandate!

  12. Hmm. Impeach Kavanaugh or Coney Barrett, huh? They certainly have the self-righteousness to try it. For a while it seemed like they had learned the lesson that impeachments were futile and politically imprudent, but now? My guess is they got caught up in the moment. They impeached Trump because they actually thought the nation was in an uproar and so the Republicans might take the bait. There might even have been a minute or two in which more than a handful of GOP Senators considered it, too. Now they're stuck going through the motions. A trial of a SCOTUS judge would be a non-starter, in the sense that 67 votes would never materialize. On the other hand, if they started expelling "insurrectionists" from both houses, well, the math would get interesting! I see no sign that they have the courage to try it...yet.
