Why the Vote in the Senate Should Have Been 100-0 to Acquit

Friends, there were plenty of holes in the Democrats' case against President Trump for "abuse of power" and "obstruction of Congress," and a no vote could thus be explained in a variety of ways.  In my view, however, the biggest weakness of the Democrats' case was always that they failed to prove, and didn't even try to prove, the central assumption of their prosecution: that Trump's goal and motivation in pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Bidens was to alter the results of the 2020 election.  That underlying rationale was simply assumed by Trump haters from the start.  And that, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with Trump haters: they have forfeited their capacity for critical thought and fairness in the course of their unholy quest to destroy Donald Trump.

The article below points out, very eloquently, why the Senate, if it had been weighing the evidence (or lack thereof) impartially, could only have reached one verdict on the abuse of power charge: NOT GUILTY.  And the vote, as I indicated, should have been 100 to nothing.

  1. Dr. Waddy:Oh my! The passionate condemners of our President so energetically advance the "certainty" that he is beyond redemption and that his supporters are beyond forgiveness. Welll!

One thing we may assume: they have "set their lives upon a cast and they will stand the hazard of the die". OK, lets not but believe that. And it makes our course clear; they mean to destroy us and in order to prevent that we must destroy them.

  2. Well... We may destroy their movement -- I hope so -- but in doing so we will actually be SAVING them, and from the worst threat they've ever faced: themselves! So many leftists are intelligent, decent people of good will. Their minds have been poisoned, and that's deeply tragic. Most are not "irredeemable," however, to borrow a phrase from Hillary Clinton. I still harbor hope that America can be made whole again, and the leftists might rejoin the ranks of freedom-loving, America-praising, God-fearing, and hard-working folk.

    1. Well...I hope you are correct Dr. Waddy. I am deeply concerned by the two primaries so far. I seriously doubt Sanders will be the candidate, if so, that means the democrats as a whole have to embrace socialism and dare say communism. I see Bloomberg mucking this up and there will be a brokered convention--mark my words, Mrs. Clinton will be entering the race to "save the day" (I think personally, that will be a mistake and will certainly fracture the party even furthur).

  3. Dr. Waddy: I agree, many who support the hard core left are of good will and can be shown the reality that that left is the product of and intends to fulfill the totalitarian purposes of, the historical left. But the political power of the left must be destroyed (for example, the fell influence of the MSM it owns)in order to neutralize their demonstrated intent to destroy all we cherish and value. Then let them squeak ineffectually in sweltering tents at summer events like the carnival con artists they are.

  4. Linda: your bets are in for Hillary Clinton. :) We'll see if you turn out to be right. It certainly seems like the picture coming out of Super Tuesday could be very confused and indeterminate. Among other things, that means that the NY Primary on April 28th could actually matter!

Well said, Jack! Socialists, advocates of open borders, and the like ought to be regarded as oddities, as freaks, as pathetic grumblers, not as potential leaders of this country. Altering the nature of the media can make it so. Easier said than done, but winning in 2020 is step one.

    1. Watch for a brokered convention, Dr. Waddy. Signs are there will be one. Like I said in the a comment --the democrats will have to either fully embrace socialism or communism or not. I also think the likes of AOC and the squad have over played their hand(s). I am just too lazy to post the links to articles, grin.

  5. Linda, I think the odds of a brokered convention are rising... If Super Tuesday is a hot mess, it will become a likelihood!
