Illegal Aliens Might Scale The Wall, But They Won't Get Around Bill Barr!

Friends, my latest article praises the recent actions of the DOJ and DHS in tackling the problem of illegal immigration, particularly as it relates to sanctuary cities and states.  Bill Barr is bringing down the hammer on lawless Democrats!  It's about time.  I know old Bill is taking it on the chin from Democrats these days, but as far as I'm concerned he's doing a spectacular job.  That proposed sentence against Roger Stone was a gross miscarriage of justice.  Basically, if you look into it, Roger Stone's crimes were similar to those of Bill Clinton in the Lewinsky Affair.  How many Democrats do you know demanding prison time for Bill Clinton?  I rest my case.  But I digress.  Check out my latest thoughts on illegal immigration, and see if you agree...

Trump's Crackdown on Sanctuary Cities is Good — A Crackdown on Employers Would Be Better

This week Attorney General Bill Barr's Department of Justice announced a raft of lawsuits against sanctuary jurisdictions that are undermining the ability of the federal government to enforce our immigration laws. Their so-called sanctuary policies are designed to prevent local and state law enforcement from cooperating with ICE and the Border Patrol. The goal? To nullify federal laws against illegal immigration and shield criminal aliens from deportation.

The Trump administration is fighting back. In addition to DOJ lawsuits against California, New Jersey, and King County in Washington State, the Department of Homeland Security has made New York residents ineligible to participate in “Trusted Traveler” programs because of that state's new policies preventing the Department of Motor Vehicles from providing critical information to DHS. New York residents will be perturbed, but they have only left-wing Governor Andrew Cuomo and a deep blue state legislature to blame. It's about time that the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security started taking seriously their obligation to prioritize the safety of U.S. citizens and to quash, once and for all, the Democrats' lawlessness.

The crackdown on sanctuary jurisdictions is just the latest in a long series of bold and largely successful efforts by the Trump administration aimed at suppressing illegal immigration. Trump has ended the disastrous “catch and release” policies of the Obama years. No longer will illegals be bused to their final destinations in the U.S. and asked politely to turn up for hearings years later. Instead they are detained and rapidly returned to Mexico or their countries of origin.

In addition, Mexico, under threat of U.S. tariffs, is providing unprecedented and very valuable assistance in the maintenance of U.S. border security. The President of Mexico has deployed thousands of police and soldiers to prevent the “caravans” of Central American so-called refugees from reaching the U.S. border in the first place. Flows of such Central American migrants have been dramatically reduced, and total illegal crossings at the U.S. border are down at least 75%.

Meanwhile, the courts have finally started to fall into line, allowing the Trump administration to take necessary steps to control our southern border, including permitting the construction of the Wall. While much remains to be done in terms of the erection of physical barriers, billions have already been spent, and hundreds of miles of fencing has been built or upgraded. Circumventing these barriers at the U.S.-Mexico border has never been harder.

No wonder, then, that the mainstream media barely covers the “border crisis” anymore. Thanks to President Trump, the crisis has largely been resolved. The lax immigration policies that once drew illegal immigrants from Mexico, Central America, and as far away as Africa and the Middle East, have been replaced. As would-be illegals have figured out that the gate is closing, and that America will no longer permit unchecked migration or reward illegality, they have made the inevitable decision to stop coming. If the media covered the situation at the border, therefore, they would have to admit that President Trump's policies have been a massive success. Better, then, from the press's vantage point, to say nothing at all.

There is one sense, however, in which the Trump administration is still coming up short. Around 11 million illegal immigrants still live in this country. The vast majority of them have jobs, which is a violation of both immigration and labor laws. Nonetheless, employers who hire illegal immigrants are almost never prosecuted or punished. Indeed, employers often seek out illegal immigrant workers, precisely because they know such workers are cheap and pliable, and the likelihood of any unwanted attention from federal authorities is very low.

This is unacceptable. Even though the Trump administration is business-friendly, the rampant violation of federal laws by American businesses cannot stand. Likewise, even though illegal immigration has been reduced, illegal aliens will continue to flow towards our southern border if they believe that there are jobs waiting for them in the USA — jobs that pay far better than anything back home.

As we congratulate Bill Barr and Donald Trump for a job well done on illegal immigration, therefore, we should remind them that more needs to be done. The scourge of illegal immigration will never be completely eliminated unless both the craven politicians and the unscrupulous businessmen who benefit from it are brought to justice.

  1. I don't trust the Mexican Government for one second. It is bought and paid for, and controlled by The Criminal Mexican Drug Cartels, and as such is a criminal nation. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but that is my opinion.

  2. Welcome, anonymous! I just visited Mexico, and your assessment does strike me as extreme, but not without merit. I'm sure elements of the Mexican government ARE controlled by the cartels. More importantly, we can NEVER trust the Mexicans to do what is in America's best interests. That would be silly. We can, however, trust them to do what is in THEIR best interests, and picking a fight with Donald Trump would be an example of a bonehead move on their part. Mexico's assistance with illegal immigration is ENTIRELY the result of the pressure Trump brought to bear. If he is defeated in 2020, you can bet the Mexicans will go right back to giving the "refugees" a helping hand across the border.

    1. What a shame that The American people have to be pawns in a war between our radical left (which is what the majority of Democrats have become), and those who would prefer to secure our border with Mexico on a permanent basis. Of course as you know, the border with Mexico is not just about illegal immigrants, but drugs, weapons, sex traffic, terrorism, and unchecked diseases. Ultimately, our damn fools who keep on yapping about open borders will suffer as much as those of us who want a sealed border. By sealed I also mean militarized. Clearly a secure border needs the attention of the Armed Forces of The United States of America. In addition, those Ports of Entry need to be shut down from time to time. Alas, Jerome Corsi is probably correct in stating that the real plan is to create a United States of The Americas, with a common currency he calls the Amero. Sound far fetched? Maybe, but I bet that in 1945, The Europeans never believed there would ever be a European Union. In the meantime, the beat goes on, and I dare say that more than a few Gringo politicians north of the border are being paid off nicely by the cartels. After all, this criminal enterprise is a multi billion dollar industry, and the temptations are tremendous, to say the least. On that note, why is it that the U.S. has so many drug addicts? If there was no demand I guess that there would be no supply?

  3. Dr. Waddy: Anonymous above was not me; I do agree with him or her in that Mexico's government has not inspired and continues not to inspire, confidence. Gads how I wish Latin Americans could get a break. We can help some of them but only by a process established and maintained by the rule of law, not by American leftist fiat.

The word from your very encouraging essay which jumps right out at me is "nullify". I remember the following commentary, which I paraphrase, from a documentary on the early Civil Rights Movement: "MY God, what can Arkansas, Alabama and Mississippi be thinking? Nullification!!?? Why that was settled in the 19th century. President Kennedy could send battleships up the Mississippi River!" (Actually, I would guess they couldn't have gotten far up the river but the point is well taken).

Nullification of Federal law, especially that law which is the sole province of the Federal government, as I believe Immigration Law is, also manifests the denial to citizens of states or cities which attempt it, the EQUAL PROTECTION of the laws, a fundamental violation of the Bill of Rights. In this case the word "protection" is vital. Immigration Law protects us from the obvious anarchic manifestations of de facto open borders. Though your contempt for any who question your unassailable justice has been amply demonstrated, Andrew Cuomo, we can be confident now that continued intransigence on your part will motivate increasingly forceful Federal intervention against you and for this state to which you so presumptuously dictate. Let your monumental ego consider this; you'll "go down" in history along with Faubus, Barnett and Wallace. Your only hope is a Dem victory in 2020 and if that happens, then "chaos is come again" for democracy in America.

  4. Dr. Waddy: The progress (as it were) of the Dem race has a certain repellent fascination to it but as long as it results in the nomination of a crazy ( and all of them except may Klobuchar, deserve that appellation), hopefully named Bernie, it is to be countenanced, as are many disgraceful things.

    2. Thank you Linda, and thanks to Dr. Waddy for this site. It has always been my belief that the greatest enemies of the American people are right here at home. The media is certainly an excellent example of this, followed by the world of the colleges and universities, and the film industry. Thanks again for your kind welcome.

    3. Jack Don't refer to them as Dems anymore. That party has gone forever, never to be seen again. The party has been infiltrated by various types of Socialists and Communists, American style of course. As such, Bernie is probably the most honest. He is a true believer in Socialism/Communism. Reminds me of the late Eugene V. Debs who ran for President of The United States of America on a Socialist ticket about 100 years ago, about five times as I recall, and lost.

  5. Anonymous -- you make a good point that a lot more than people flows across our southern border. A lot of it, though, flows through ports of entry right under the noses of Border Patrol (or with their connivance, in some cases). The war on drugs is a toughie. Interdiction of drug traffic at the border is moderately helpful, but it also drives the price of drugs up, which in turn causes more drug-related violence. Why anyone wastes their time (and their lives) on drugs is beyond me. It's one more sign of the decadence and alienation that grips the modern age...

Jack, you and Anonymous both point out, quite rightly, that ALL Americans, including liberals, are put at risk when sanctuary cities refuse to aid in the deportation of dangerous criminals. That Americans aren't howling with outrage when sanctuary jurisdictions let animals prowl our streets is proof that the media has the public pretty well hoodwinked on this issue. The Left loves to use raw emotion to manipulate the gullible masses. Well, on this issue we have some very raw emotions to proffer ourselves! The victims of illegal immigrant crime are full of righteous indignation, and with good reason.

Linda, thanks for your hospitality to Anonymous, who so concisely lists Public Enemies Nos. 1, 2, and 3 on the Left. I mean that sincerely: the media, the educational establishment, and the cultural elite are, at the end of the day, far more consequential enemies of decency than the Democratic Party, which merely marches to their collective drum.

  6. Dr. Waddy Thanks so much for your nice comments about my posts, and thank you again for your blog site. Looking forward to reading more of your articles. You know, if true conservatives of all shades had complete control of the universities and colleges, the media, and the film industry, the American people would suffer a lot less from whatever left wing dregs were in any of the U.S. Government branches at any time.

  9. Anonymous: I completely agree with your assessment of today's Dem party. They are shamefully compromised.

  10. Jack,
Come to think of it, the Democrats have always been compromised. First they were the party of slavery in The United States of America, primarily in the South before and after The Civil War, and then during the FDR Regime they were Socialized and Communized. How else can it be explained. This turn to the radical left began (in my opinion) with The Clintons. The Bush Administration did very little to halt this radical left turn. Then of course, The Obamas continued the task of a complete turn to the radical Left. Actually, the Left is Radical in itself and always has been since Marx came up with the Communist Manifesto in 1848, so technically there has never been a moderate Left. The idea here is to infiltrate instead of seizing control by way of Revolution, say in Russia in 1917, and other European countries after World War One. In any event, the so called "Democrats" are not fit to run The United States of America, and their ideology is anti-American and anti-Christian. A so called "moderate Left" is a myth. All of the current candidates (no matter how they try to hide it) would very much love to become Marxist Dictators of a United Socialist States of America. Things will get worse before they get better. Sorry to be so bombastic. Finally, I would say that The United States of America should probably be celebrating the 100th Anniversary (1920-2020) of our turn to the Left, however slow that may seem at times.

  11. Anonymous: I agree. The American left has gone fully left. We who perceive this must ask: what if we had been in an opinion making position in 1917?Could we have predicted to the Russian population what horrors they faced?

I agree with you that a moderate left is a misconception. That is like proposing a moderate Nazi faction. They are very much similar.

I also fully agree that all American leftists would rejoice to be totalitarian dictators of the "erring" American majority.

The leftist curse was visited upon luckless Russia by chaos enabled dreamers.

The present American Dem Left draws its inspiration from the airy dreams of the Boomers, whose numbers alone lent them power. The boomers are descending into senility and that is a positive development for our country. Their fell effect on consequent generations must still be reckoned with though.

  12. Anonymous: a fair point that today's Democratic Party bears little resemblance to the party of old. Of course, it depends on what era once chooses for purposes of comparison, but the truth is that, even compared to the Obama years, the Dems have deteriorated (or progressed, depending on one's perspective on Marxism) remarkably quickly. Funny you should mention a 100th anniversary. 100 years ago our country was vigorously suppressing Marxism (in the wake of its trial run in Russia). J. Edgar Hoover was cutting his teeth in our first Red Scare. Flash forward to 2020, and the Bolsheviks are no longer at the gates -- they're inside them. "Infiltration" is right! There are few institutions left in the American establishment that haven't been thoroughly compromised.

Jack: I disagree that all of the Dem candidates would CONSCIOUSLY embrace a Stalinist dictatorship, but the "consciously" part is not much of a comfort. How many of the Bolshevik revolutionaries in 1917 foresaw, or wished for, all the horrors that would follow? The point is that, when one embraces a worldview founded in utopianism, one is inevitably led by degrees straight back to barbarism, because only the most terrible violence can compel ordinary human beings to play along with such nonsense. The sad part is that so many Dems (and, once upon a time, communists) are/were people of good will. Good will doesn't count for much, though, when one's project is flawed and inhuman to begin with.

  13. Dr. Waddy: Ditto, ditto. But when one's convictions have been thoroughly condemned by 100 years worth of ghastly history, then continued devotion becomes consummate evil.
