Friends, one of the two men pictured above is currently looking for work. It ain't Trump. No, it's Terry Moran, formerly of ABC News. Ole Terry spoke out against Trump's Reign of Terror a little too candidly, so ABC gave him the axe. It's a fascinating development that suggests that the legacy media, while it's inveterately anti-Trump, feels it needs to somehow calibrate its TDS to stay within the bounds of "objectivity". Ha! That'll be the day. In any case, anything that brings the MSM even slightly down to earth is okay by me. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Terry!

In other news, the great state of New York is poised to make dying and/or killing a little bit easier. I have mixed feelings on the issue of assisted suicide myself. What about you?
It looks like the U.S. and China have made progress in their trade talks. The markets will like that. We're a long way from a final settlement, of course, but it will be fascinating to see if American access to the Chinese market meaningfully improves.

Finally, as the Russia-Ukraine War drags on, there are some obvious losers: civilians, for whom the war is getting progressively worse and costlier. That's because, as tends to happen in war, both sides are steadily boosting their firepower and the insidiousness of their weaponry. Will either side "break" under the pressure? That's hard to say, but the dynamics of a conflict can shift very rapidly, so stay tuned.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I watched and read some of Moran's epic Philippics. Glad to see him smacked down. But it was gag worthy of ABC to assert a devotion on its part to objectivity as its rationale for taking him to task. Baloney! ABC is a longtime key part of an MSN in thrall to the "American" far left and obsequiously willing to reflexively take its disingenuous part at any time.
ReplyDeleteMoran had a good thing going; he got a one on one with the despised Presidential dictator himself. He didn't fare too well then. But he saved his worst for the post that got him in hot water. For the time being, his heretofore supportive employer has hung him out to dry. Why?
Because, as you pointed out, they are skeered. And they are showing Moran just how little he counts when their job security is at risk.Lets hope others of his ilk take a lesson. Its redeeming to see an MSM which has disgraced itself beyond measure with its vicious unprofessional biases brought up short. DJT is teaching them a little "respect".
Dr. Waddy from Jack: my initial reaction to the possibility of NY state granting those who wish , for any reason, to die , good leave to access the endurable methods known to Doctors: why don't you presumptuous state meddlers just stay out of it?! Let it be between the patient and the Doctor with nobody having the power to prevent it by any manner (unless it physically harms others or the patient is a child). Isn't that just what the dictatorially far left NY Legislature and Executive branch demand for women contemplating the killing of their unborn babies, (the human feti having no say in the matter)ehhh? So why don't you just legislate your way out of the picture, instead of trifling with it? But then, in NY , the answer to that is probably preordained .
ReplyDeleteBut, there are other concerns: I'm going to guess that statutes "outlawing" suicide originally and presently had and have some honorable and plausible purposes. They may well have had religious bases in an earlier U.S. and the legal systems upon which ours is based. This does not discredit them out of hand; religious doctrine is often the product of well meaning, long term , principled examination and contemplation and there can be little doubt they profoundly shaped our nation. But they may also have protected, to some extent, the financial rights of persons or entities to which the person committing suicide was indebted. And they may have been meant to prevent heartless cynics from so persuading persons bereft of hope to dispatch themselves, to the benefit of the persuaders.
Modern far left governments, both the incipiently and already comprehensively totalitarian, consider all aspects of human life, public or "private " to be within their administrative purview, solely at their "enlightened " pleasure. So my initial reaction is that this is typical NY imposition as on whatever it wishes to control, though presented as an easing of government overreach. But perhaps it really is an atypical effort to afford some leeway to N.Y.'s subjects in this, with at least some effort to acknowledge that this subject MAY not be entirely the state's business.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: A caller to a conservative talk show said" President Trump has pardoned or extended clemency to a good many of the January '21 "insurrectionists" but he declares intent to punish the LA rioters. The host said "that's a good point" and then offered a respectful riposte to this effect: many of the January '21 participants were hit with prosecution and incarceration, which of course included all of the "inconveniences", dangers, anxiety, despair and potential financial ruin which always attend such punitive action, especially by a government viciously and hypocritically ( think 2020) biased against them . The LA rioters deserve the penalties which fit their crimes and the President is right in advocating such justice. I agree. ICE is enforcing the rule of democratically established law as the law abiding public expects and our Pres. is determined to defend the law abiding from anarchists and totalitarians who presumptuously invade their city.
ReplyDeletePlease pardon my punctuation. Jack
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Nearby Buffalo ,NY is experiencing a definitive example of Dem thinking nationwide. In response to misuse of ATVs on city streets and sidewalks , Dems are proposing banning their sale in the city.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the counterintuitive measures they typically advocate in dealing with gun crime. Penalize everyone, including the lawful and considerate; that way you can't miss the offenders. And oh yes , how about those whose livelihoods depend on ATV sales and service or the use of ATVs for commercial purposes? I guess they are just SOL. Aside from losing lots of customers, if their business establishment is in the city, why they'll simply have to up and move, won't they!
Apparently cracking down on the demonstrated offenders is too icky to contemplate.
RAY TO DR. WADDY
ReplyDeleteWhat needs to happen in The Russia-Ukraine War is another cease fire, and a first time Taylor Swift Concert in Kiev and Moscow.
Jack, the notion that the MSM prizes "objectivity" or professionalism is so laughable that I have to wonder whether Moran's ouster was a setup, or whether his tweet was just a pretext.
ReplyDeleteJack, hear hear! The last thing we need in NYS is to get the state involved in the suicide business. The mind boggles at the long list of forms one would be required to fill out, and the many duties one would have to pay, to exit Gov. Hochul's jurisdiction (permanently)... Of course, I jest, but then again the bureaucratization and politicization of death itself may be inevitable, once the state's tentacles begin to grope in that direction. Repealing any laws against suicide might be a positive step, I agree. Beyond that, it will be awfully hard to distill these questions of life and death into laws and edicts.
Jack, President Trump commuted the sentences of Jan. 6 "insurrectionists" who had already been severely punished for their crimes, and sometimes for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. If our next Dem president wishes to extend the same courtesy to the LA rioters, after they've endured several years of persecution and incarceration, he/she will have that right.
Jack, I favor the banning of the sale of gasoline in Buffalo's city limits. That should really bring those ATVs to a screeching halt!
Good to hear from you, Ray! Excellent point that we haven't yet heard Taylor Swift's peace plan for Russia/Ukraine. She enjoys telling us how to vote. Why not kick the pontification into an even higher gear!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Those prosecuted for Jan.6 cannot have been at all certain that DJT would become President again or that he would redeem them. For awhile it looked nearly hopeless. And they knew that with Dems in charge they would get no breaks.
ReplyDeleteBut let those LA rioters who are convicted suffer the same anxieties. Months in the tawdry setting of jails and prisons are agonizing; years are devastating, especially for the otherwise lawful. Then again, many of these LA thugs are professional lowlifes and for that ilk its an expected hazard.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I see in the proposal to ban the sale of ATVs the same imperious cultural animus which motivates "gun control" by ever more restrictive rules for lawful gun owners. "Why I don't ride ATVs , they're icky".
ReplyDeleteExcellent point: "rednecks" ride ATVs. Ergo, ATVs are a "gateway" vehicle leading, inevitably, to full-size pickups and, in due course, Panzer Mark IVs. Thanks, liberals, for forestalling the apocalypse, once again!
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Take it from this redneck ,the touchy feelies know where we're at!
