More Ukrainian Than The Ukrainians

Friends, pro-Ukrainian virtue-signaling has become all the rage these days (or was that last week?), such that questioning the belligerent policies of the Biden Administration re: Russia is virtually unthinkable.  We're all barreling towards WWIII, apparently, and we couldn't be happier about it!  Hooray!  Case in point: recently a group of progressive Dems in the House of Representatives published a letter calling -- ever so politely and timidly -- for negotiations with Russia aimed at ending the war.  The storm of criticism from their more hawkish fellow Democrats forced these lefties to withdraw their letter posthaste.  Now, criticizing Biden will become a lot more acceptable on the Left, one suspects, around about November 9th, but in the meantime any Democrat who steps out of line will be slapped down hard.  And, just for the record, these saucy Dems were absolutely right: there is no way out of the current Russia-Ukraine, and Russia vs. the West, conflict except through talking with the other side.  This war was dumb and unnecessary to begin with, and the only hope for a restoration of peace is for cooler heads to prevail and for everyone to acknowledge that a perfect solution isn't possible -- we're going to have to meet somewhere in the middle.

In addition, it's that time of the week again -- time for the greatest radio personality of all time, Nush Wimbaugh (that's my radio "handle") to regale his listeners with more penetrating analysis.  This week, Brian and I cover the looming midterms and how the Dems are blowing it, Steve Bannon's legal problems, Italy's lurch towards "fascism" (ha!), and Britain's new semi-conservative Conservative Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.  It's well worth a listen!

And you can be sure that no diplomatic solutions to The Ukraine situation will be forthcoming any time soon. War is a racket and a money maker for arms dealers everywhere, and especially right here at home. Remember that the very first thing that Trump was attacked for when he was running for president is that he said the war in Iraq was unnecessary. In addition, the weapons contractors have both parties in their pockets.

  2. Ray, that's all true, but the Left has a rich history of taking "anti-war" positions, when it's convenient for them to do so. I daresay our Ukrainian pals are so beloved in the West because they're doing all the heavy lifting for us. All we're doing is sending them bullets and what not. This is WWIII, or Cold War 2.0, if you prefer, on the cheap (if you consider tens of billions of dollars "cheap", which Biden certainly does). I agree that there won't be any significant changes in U.S. policy in the foreseeable future, BUT that doesn't mean that the Dems and/or Republicans wouldn't let the Ukrainians twist in the wind if they thought it would be expedient. That day may come.

Come to think of it, both RePOOPlicans and DemoCRAZIES did hang South Vietnam out to dry, didn't they?

  4. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Re: the broadcast this week: It would be great to see Italy get lasting good government. Our dems: they richly deserve to be hoisted on their own petard by GOP controlled House and perhaps Senate committees. And lets finally discard our principles of cooperation and "fairness"; when we beat them down, let's KEEP them down and take full advantage of them. Let subpoenas become nemesis to those who have more than confirmed their devotion to ruthless expedition.

  5. Dr.Waddy from Jack: Of course the dems will change their tune on the uses of Congressional Committees and of politics by prosecution and perhaps on abolishing the filibuster. There will be another Congressional election in 2024 and their fully to be expected frantic and shamelessly trumpeted disingenuousness will still be current and of good use in discrediting them. I hop

  6. Dr.Waddy from Jack: I hope GOP led Armed Services Committees in both Houses fasten a basilisk gaze on wokeness experimentalism in those who see fit to use our fighting forces with such contempt. That attitude was one of the reasons Hillary , who delighted in making waiters of Marine officers, lost.Military morale would be much benefitted by seeing authoritative, decisive power take this outrage to unrelenting task!

  7. Quite right, Ray. The Dems got us into Vietnam and then discovered that the war was morally obscene (once Nixon took the helm). Their principles are ever-shifting.

Jack, I have VERY low expectations of Congressional committees and hearings, BUT it would be nifty to watch the DOJ prosecute Trump for ignoring a Congressional subpoena while it ignores a slew of Dems who will, in the near future, be guilty of the same thing. The GOP would be wise also to expose the Dems' past and present loose handling of secret and confidential material, because that would undercut any prosecution of Trump for a similar offense.

Good point that there's another election in 2024 (not that anyone had forgotten), insofar as the dynamics for Republican pickups in the Senate will be much better that year. A majority of 52 or 53 could turn into a majority of 60, if we play our cards right.
