Hallelujah! The Texas House of Representatives is Democrat-Free!

Friends, ordinarily we would celebrate when Democrats choose to expel themselves from any legislative chamber -- and compliment their patriotism and good judgement! -- but in this case Democrats in the Texas House have only removed themselves from the state to deny Republicans the quorum they need to pass election reform bills.  Democrats claim these bills are "Jim Crow 2.0" and their sole purpose is to make it impossible for minorities to vote.  The truth, of course, is that it is easier today to vote in America than ever before, and these bills won't change that except in the most marginal ways.  For the Dems, therefore, this is about political theater, above all -- it's about fostering support for their election takeover bills at the federal level.  They would like, ideally, to subordinate elections officials nationwide to woke federal bureaucrats and even woker election activists and lawyers.  They may even believe their own propaganda that American democracy will collapse in a heap if their precious bills aren't passed.  News flash: many states have passed election integrity bills before, and Dems cried bloody murder, but voter access improved and turnout increased!  So take a chill pill, Dems.  You probably will lose the 2022 elections, but that's because you stink.  No byzantine conspiracy is required for the voters to put you in your place.  It's called "democracy".  Get used to it.

A Trump-hating Republican, former Senator Jeff Flake, is getting his just reward: exile in Turkey.  Bon voyage, Jeff!

We're creeping closer and closer to televising Supreme Court hearings, and I have very mixed feelings.  On one hand, it's clearly undemocratic for these black-robbed elitists to hold sway over our country and to experience zero accountability for their (often) terrible decisions.  On the other hand, televising the procedings will hasten the abandonment of whatever decorum manifests itself in the deliberations of the high court, and it will subject the Justices to unprecendented public scrutiny, and thus probably to a certain degree of harassment and intimidation, which I strongly suspect will encourage them to vote as leftists would wish them to.  All in all, I'd say the Court's legitimacy is already hanging by a thread, and televising the proceedings won't help a bit.

Unsurprisingly, more and more Americans are coming to the conclusion that COVID-19 was engineered in a Chinese lab, and the Chicoms therefore bear some responsibility for the disasters that have befallen us in the last 18 months.  A majority of Americans think the Chinese should pay up in the form of reparations.  That'll be the day!  The more pressing question is: will the U.S. government ever upbraid China -- let alone stand up to it and demand redress?  Don't hold your breath.

Cornel West, anti-racist racist extraordinaire, is resigning from Harvard because it's all Jim Crow-y.  What a hoot!  When these left-wing nutjobs aren't stewing in their hatred for conservatives, Republicans, Trumpers, and honkies, they're frothing with rage at each other.  Hilarious!

There's one upside to communist rule, apparently: less social media!  Cuba is restricting access to platforms like Facebook to reassert the government's control over information and prevent the organization of anti-government protests.  Why didn't Trump think of that???

Inflation isn't all in your head, folks.  It really is heating up, and it's exceeding wage increases, which means that real wages are falling.  Think about that: wages are falling at the same time that the economy is going great guns...  The experts keep telling us that it's just a passing fancy.  Everything will settle down in a few months.  Presumably, those are the same experts who tell us that the federal government can spend unlimited trillions without any consequence whatsoever.  We shall see.

Finally, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel says we're "on the precipice" of retaking the House and Senate in 2022.  Well, we are.  We're also, as the Rod Squad keeps reminding us, "on the precipice" of losing the Senate in 2022 decisively, so that the Dems can abolish the filibuster, pack the Supreme Court, add some new states, and settle in for a generation of misrule.  Everything is on a knife's edge these days.  So, yes: victory is possible in 2022.  It may even be probable.  But it won't come easily, and no one should rest easy, least of all us "insurrectionists" and "domestic terrorists", who are already skating on thin ice.

Andrew Cuomo Won't Be Denied

Friends, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has a well-deserved reputation as a tough-as-nails political brawler.  If you push him, he pushes back...and generally it's YOU who tumbles over.  Check out the latest developments (and non-developments) in the New York Attorney General's investigation into Cuomo's alleged misconduct.  The Dems in New York are in an awkward predicament: many have called on Cuomo to resign, but most Democratic voters in the state remain enamored with their Fearless Leader.  The NY GOP eyes an opportunity, naturally, but it's not at all clear that New York will ever "quit" Cuomo, or vice versa!

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/11/tish-james-report-cuomo-499032

In other news, the people of Cuba are getting hot under the collar, and it's not the tropical temps this time.  Could the communist regime be in real danger?  In many ways Cuban communism has endured far longer than it should have.  At a certain point, only the naked use of force would be capable of sustaining such an antiquated, reactionary tyranny.  Are the communist grandees on the island prepared to use whatever means are necessary to keep themselves in power?  Stay tuned.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cuba-protest-united-states-reactions/

Is "climate change" real?  Probably, but it may also be a really minor concern, all things considered.  In fact, it could even be a net plus.  Read all about it:

https://www.realclearmarkets.com/articles/2021/07/12/six_facts_the_left_doesnt_want_you_to_know_about_global_warming_784976.html

It's become increasiongly clear that Democrats nationwide intend to keep running against Donald Trump, regardless of whether Trump himself is in office or even on the ballot.  That's understandable.  Lefties see the world in stark Trumpian/anti-Trumpian terms.  Here's a Republican who's attacking on an unconventional front: he's trying to tie his Democratic opponent to Trump, presumably to delegitimize him with progressives and Trump-haters.  That's a surprisingly smart move!

Richard Grenell, former Director of National Intelligence, is rightly calling for a full investigation of allegations that the NSA leaked Tucker Carlson's private communications to friendly (i.e. left-leaning) journalists.  We need to get to the bottom of this, and we need to put maximum heat on the NSA, to ensure that such tactics are never repeated.

Finally, here's a great analysis of President Trump's lawsuit against Big Tech.  Basically, Trump is arguing that social media companies are censoring him on behalf of, and in collaboration with, agents of the U.S. federal government and the Democratic Party.  And that, in turn, would make such censorship a violation of the First Amendment.  Is he firing blanks?  I'm no lawyer.  We'll have to wait and see.

Chicken Soup for Trumpers' Souls

Friends, as you well know, conservatives, Republicans, and Trumpers tend to be pretty depressed these days.  I mean, we're living under Bidenist tyranny, after all.  The strange truth, though, is that a lot of Dems and progressives are down in the dumps too.  Why?  Because they're mentally ill?  That's only half the story.  Lefties are also feeling some "buyer's remorse" over the 2020 election.  They voted for the permanent enthronement of neo-Marxists, after all, and for the total debasement and destruction of their enemies.  They voted for the radical transformation of America into a socialist paradise.  They had, in short, high expectations of what a victory over Trump and Trumpism would mean...and now they're stuck with the harsh reality of what it means to "govern" America.  It means, by and large, frustration and disappointment.  The system is basically designed to obstruct "progress" and meaningful change.  What's more, the Dems' majorities in both houses of Congress are razor-thin, and their "victory" in the last presidential election, for all their huffing and puffing, was by the skin of their teeth, too.  Worst of all, they don't control the federal courts, which have the final say on, well, everything!  Thus, more than a few lefties are growing restless, and they're coming to realize just how inconsequential their historic "victory" in 2020 really was.  When you, as a conservative, Republican, and/or Trumper start to feel morose about our country's predicament, therefore, remember this: a lot of Dems and progressives are just as despondent as you -- and for equally valid reasons.  Take pleasure in their pain!  It's only human...

In other news, it turns out men were more adversely affected by the pandemic, at least in higher ed, than women.  No doubt the Dems will rush aid immediately to us downtrodden males, right?  Ha!  Guess again.

Charlottesville, Virginia today completed the obliteration of its statues of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson -- and they threw in Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea for good measure.  Next: the retirement of the American flag flying over city hall, and its prompt replacement with the proud banner of transgenderism.  Hooray!

Finally, President Trump gave a rousing speech to CPAC-Dallas, and he easily triumphed in their straw poll.  Ron DeSantis was a distant second.  That about sums up the GOP presidential sweepstakes at the present moment: the 2024 nomination is Trump's for the taking.

Alaska Can Do Better

Friends, our conservative compatriots in Alaska have a big opportunity in 2022: they have the chance to send Lisa Murkowski, RINO extraordinaire, packing, and they can replace her with a bonafide lover of liberty who more genuinely reflects the values and priorities of the "Last Frontier".  Murkowskism has been an embarrassment to the Senate GOP, frankly.  Lisa Murkowski voted against the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh, and for the impeachment of Donald Trump.  What else do you need to know?  It's high time we terminated her employment as a U.S. Senator.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/07/08/nolte-lisa-murkowskis-favorability-with-alaska-republicans-plummets-to-6/

"President" Biden is making some rhetorical moves to rein in Big Tech, but don't take any of it too seriously.  Executive Orders, lest we forget, are mostly for show.  Until Congress passes major anti-trust legislation, or until the courts change their attitudes to social media companies, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube will continue to pose a grevious threat to American freedom and democracy.

Finally, this poll should come as no surprise: 58% of Americans view the media as "the enemy of the people".  Well, the miracle is that anyone still listens to the nonsense that these charlatans peddle daily.  The sad fact, though, is that the "news", as it's framed by woke journalists, is still consumed by millions of otherwise decent Americans every day.  Thus, winning these unfortunates over to the truth will be no easy task.  They are thoroughly -- and in some cases irredeemably -- brainwashed.

Total Commitment in the War Against Big Tech

Friends, my latest article lays out the stakes involved in conservatives' bitter struggle against Big Tech.  I argue that the contest could prove existential for our side -- in other words, if Big Tech gets its way, conservatism as we know it will simply cease to exist.  I also argue that it's time for us to consider adopting unconventional tactics, like making common cause with certain leftists.  Read all about it below, or wait for it to appear at American Greatness.

The Battle Against Big Tech is an Existential Fight for Conservatives

For Big Tech billionaires, these are the best of times, and these are the worst of times.

Why the best? Because the long arm of social media and online commerce has never reached further and deeper into Americans' culture, spending habits, lifestyles, and worldview. Likewise, the net worth of these billionaires has risen to undreamed-of heights. COVID was, for these tech barons, a blessing in disguise: it trapped Americans indoors, where they could do little else but browse the web, consume digital entertainment, and spend their stimulus dollars on imported Chinese doohickeys. Even as the dreaded virus has retreated, Big Tech has successfully locked in its gains.

Why the worst of times, though? The very rise of Big Tech has portended greater scrutiny. The debasement of Big Tech's competitors and natural enemies – from brick-and-mortar stores to Trump supporters – has ensured that the drumbeat of criticism of social media companies and online retailers has never been more stridently percussive.

The fruits of this anti-Big Tech fury are evident in polls, which show that Americans doubt the wisdom of censorship and deplatforming, and they would like social media companies to “abide by the First Amendment” and “provide free speech guarantees to their users”. Amazon, meanwhile, gets a relative pass from ordinary Americans, 72% of whom still view the retailing behemoth favorably. Twitter, by contrast, at 37% favorability, is down in Nancy Pelosi territory.

The headwinds for Big Tech go far beyond public attitudes. Politicians are taking, or planning, a range of measures to tackle these companies' perceived depredations. Democrats are advancing a series of bills in the House to strengthen anti-trust laws with an eye to encouraging the breakup of online monopolies. Republicans are proposing similar bills, but with an emphasis on guaranteeing conservatives access to online platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Similarly, many states are pondering, or have already passed, comprehensive bills designed to punish Big Tech's campaigns of censorship. Florida's landmark bill, though, has already been subjected to a federal injunction. Even foreign governments are getting in on the act, with Poland and Hungary seeking to require social media companies to respect free speech.

Donald Trump, the most famous victim of Big Tech's highly selective penchant for deplatforming, has joined the fray, most recently with a major class action lawsuit against Facebook, Twitter, and Google, which owns YouTube. All of these platforms banned the sitting President of the United States after the Capitol Riot on January 6th. Trump made statements during and after the riot that, while not advocating lawlessness, these social media companies viewed as insufficiently condemnatory. Problematic, of course, is their comparative disinterest in silencing or punishing any of the many leftist voices which gave aid and comfort to the much deadlier and more destructive anti-police rioters in the summer of 2020.

Will any of these legislative or legal strategies work? That remains to be seen, but it's evident that they haven't yet forced these social media titans to budge. Facebook's Oversight Board recently approved of the company's ban on Trump, and Facebook will not even consider rescinding it until after the 2022 elections.

Despite the failure, thus far, of these multi-pronged efforts to bring Big Tech to heel, conservatives must remain vigilant, and if at all possible they must find new fronts on which to attack. The reason is simple: social media platforms increasingly control, or at the very least mediate, public discourse. Conservatives, moreover, cannot win any debate in which they are forbidden to participate. Therefore, the baleful precedent recently established for the censoring and outright banning of mostly conservative voices must be overturned, before these tactics proliferate and online speech becomes a monologue reaffirming leftist values and principles.

In this light, conservatives should consider how isolated they have already become. They are an endangered species in all sectors of our education system. They are a besieged minority in Hollywood and in our popular culture in general, which is saturated with leftist messaging, by contrast. Neo-Marxists rule over an increasing number of corporate boardrooms, while shareholder meetings and corporate HR departments have become social engineering laboratories. The relentless negativity that the mainstream media spews in the direction of conservatives is now accepted as the primary duty of “woke” journalists.

Given this bleak cultural landscape for conservatives, the relative success of conservatives in sharing their viewpoints, and in articulating a counter-narrative to the America-hating, race-baiting socialism of the Left, via social media – think of the legions of new voters recruited by President Trump – is the very reason why Big Tech is so keen now to silence us, once and for all. There are only so many major institutions that we can afford to be frozen out of, however, before the majority of Americans simply lose touch with the conservative point of view, and they begin to believe the demoniacal images of conservatives peddled by our left-leaning thought-masters by default.

Now is the time, therefore, for conservatives to intensify the struggle against Big Tech, and to pressure these companies to reverse their campaigns of censorship and deplatforming. We must do so, in fact, with a fervor borne of desperation – as though our very (political) lives depend on it, because they do!

It may also be time for conservatives to make some strategic alliances with certain leftists, who want to break up Big Tech companies on anti-trust grounds. We may not agree with these radicals' anti-capitalist rationale, but we must ask ourselves: can a social media landscape dominated by a few major corporations led by inveterate and outspoken leftists ever be compelled, by public pressure, legislation, or legal action, to treat conservatives fairly and equitably? Or, would the splintering of these companies serve democracy and free speech better, by creating a multitude of smaller technology companies, some of which would inevitably seek to ingratiate themselves with a liberty-loving customer base?

My own view is that the moral and political calculus has become remarkably simple: whatever harms Big Tech will, inevitably, help conservatives, free speech, and, thus, America.

I say, therefore: Down with Big Tech! Down with Facebook! Down with Twitter! Down with YouTube!

Let us not rest until these companies are no more, and a gaggle of smaller and less menacing successor companies have taken their place.

Let Facebook, for instance, become Redbook and Bluebook (and possibly Purplebook, for good measure). At least then we conservatives won't be left out in the cold.

Once again, a major teachers union is getting tangled up in the controversy over "CRT" and whether it is, or should be, taught in our public schools.  The semantics are getting tiresome, I must say, but the substantive issues involved couldn't be more central to our nation's and our children's future.

The Truth About "CRT" in Our Schools

Friends, a lot of controversy swirls over the presence (or non-presence) of critical race theory-themed instruction in our public schools.  Conservatives say our children are being indoctrinated in neo-Marxist discrimination.  Lefties say "Relax!  CRT isn't even a thing in public education.  Do you want us to pretend race doesn't even exist?  Take a chill pill!"  Recently, the National Education Association weighed in on this controversy.  How?  Well, that's a little hard to say, because almost immediately NEA officials removed the text of their CRT-supporting resolution from their website.  It seems even the NEA can't decide quite what to do about CRT!  One of the sticking points: what is CRT?  Below you'll find one article that proposes a simple definition: any instruction that frames itself around a student's race, i.e. teaches, say, blacks and whites to see themselves differently depending on race, or uses different lesson plans on students of different races, is, well, racist, and should count as the functional equivalent of "CRT".  Others say any instruction that is "race-focused" is "CRT".  What's your view?

In other news, Governor Andrew Cuomo (NY) is getting "tough on crime", but there's a twist: it's the guns that vex Cuomo, not the criminals pulling all those triggers.  Expect a lot more of this rhetoric.  Lefties won't want to roll back their "criminal justice reforms" and tackle crime at its root: the sociopathy of the criminal class.  Instead, they'll want to weaponize our current crime wave to achieve bigger government and more regulation of our daily lives, including the steady diminution of gun rights.  I mean, (non-white) people don't do bad things, right?  It's the guns' fault!

The field of candidates challenging Governor Gavin Newsom in California's big recall election keeps growing.  That's nice, but the real question is whether 50.1% of voters can be persuaded to vote "Yes!" on the recall itself.  As you see here, Newsom's strategy is simple: paint the recall as a fascist/white supremacist/right-wing/Q-Anon/anti-vaxxer/insurrectionist/Trumpist conspiracy.  In Lala-land, that might just work.

Tucker Carlson is getting more explicit about the NSA's campaign against him.  He says they're leaking the contents of his private communications to left-leaning journalists.  If that's true, this could blow up into a very big scandal indeed!  That's a big "if", though, and the question will be: can Tucker prove it?

We got EXTREMELY BIG -- one might even say "HUUUUUUUUUUUGE" -- news today: Donald Trump is suing Big Tech for infringing on his First Amendment rights.  He's making it a class action suit as well, meaning that other aggrieved conservatives can join in on the fun.  You all know the low regard I have for Big Tech, but can such a suit succeed?  I wouldn't bet on it.  We'll need to keep attacking on all fronts and hope something pans out.  If nothing else, such suits serve to "keep them honest", right?

Relatedly, a strong majority of Americans are coming around to the view that Big Tech's censorship and deplatforming poses a threat to our democracy and to free speech, and most Americans would like Big Tech to lay off.  Believe it or not, Big Tech might actually care what their curstomers think.

Yet another poll says that Americans are now happier in their personal lives than ever!  Wow.  We seem pretty mopey to me.  It's not shocking that the end of the pandemic is giving us a shot in the arm (pun intended), however.  One also assumes that all the Trump-haters are feeling better about life these days -- that's if they're not still hiding in their basements from all those slavering "white supremacists" roaming the streets...  (I hear neo-Confederates commit 95% of all violent crimes in America -- or rather, I interpolated that statistic from watching CNN.  They wouldn't steer me wrong, right?)

Finally, to the point I just made, poor COVID, everyone's favorite virus, has really fallen on hard times.  Cases and deaths are WAY down.  That menacing "Delta variant" is prolferating, but the problem is that virtually no one is coming down with COVID in the first place.  My condolences to those of you who bet the farm on the mask industry.  Ouch!

Friends, you won't want to miss even one millisecond of this week's Newsmaker Show with me and Brian O'Neil.  First, we tackle the biggest stories in current events, including: the 100th anniversary of Chinese communism (food is a good gift for your favorite commie -- I hear a lot of people starve to death under Marxist rule), the "new normal" of chaos at our southern border, the Nikole Hannah-Jones controversy, whether a bipartisan majority in Congress might succeed in reining in Big Tech, and the disspiriting anti-Americanism of young people.

In our "This Day in History" segment, Brian and I talk Islamic terrorism, the legacy of Sandra Day O'Connor and the prospects for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and first federal execution of a woman in 1865.  Those all sound like hot buttons to me!

Back to the Future in Red China

Friends, no doubt you've been celebrating the Chinese Communist Party's 100th birthday, as I have.  Pictured above is Chinese President Xi dressed up in a (charming) Mao suit as he sings the praises of the CCP and all it's done for the Chinese people.  Yup, Marxism's been smooth sailing, all right!  I mean, try to find a Chinaman who says otherwise...  Actually, as the article below points out, most of the Chinese who dared to question the supremacy of Maoism were killed a long time ago.  The impact of communism on the people and culture of China has, in many ways, been devastating.  As the article below that points out, though, China has been remarkably successful in recent decades despite its communist leadership, and more to the point because that leadership has been willing to forget most of the tenets of Marxism itself.  Finally, on our honorary "China page", you'll find an article in which Japan expresses its willingness to fight as part of an international coalition defending Taiwan from Chinese aggression.  Hmm.  Watch out, Japan -- your wish might come true!  The problem, as I see it, is that Japan might be one of the only countries prepared to stand up to the Chinese behemoth.  I mean, these days it's a lot easier to take the NBA route and grovel at China's feet, no?

In other news, the NSA isn't saying anything more about Tucker Carlson.  Whether or not they make a habit of reading his emails remains a mystery.  As this analysis suggests, their "denial" was more of an obfuscation.  The problem is that the intelligence community was weaponized against conservatives even under Trump...so how much worse will things get now that the Dems are back at the helm???  Tucker is right to be concerned.

Congrats to UNC, which has dodged the bullet of having Nikole Hannah-Jones, 1619 creator and Bolshevik race-baiter extraordinaire, on its faculty.  Howard University won the "prize" instead.

The U.S. news media stopped paying much attention to the war in Afghanistan years ago, but the fact is that our withdrawal from that conflict carries with it considerable risks.  It's just a matter of time before international terrorism rears its ugly head again...

A number of anti-trust, anti-Big Tech bills are making their way through the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.  In other words, Big Tech has worked its collective tail off as an arm of the Democratic Party, and the Democrats are preparing to reward their number one supporters by breaking up their companies.  I'm fine with it.  Anything that reduces the power of Big Tech over our public discourse, and fosters more pluralism and diversity in social media, is a net plus for America and for conservatives, in my book.

Turns out that there might be some basic anatomical differences between men and women...  Who knew?  The U.S. Army is reaching the conclusion that, if you apply the same physical standards to men and women, women don't do so well!  Yikes.  We can't have that.  Let's apply gender-specific standards (lowered to the vanishing point for females) to make sure that women don't feel left out when the shooting starts on our modern battlefields.  I can't think of anything that could go wrong with that plan...

Apparently, college-aged Americans aren't just woke, lazy, and insufferable -- they're America-haters too!  Only about a third of them are "extremely" or "very" proud to be Americans, which is a shockingly low figure, historically.  I say these whippersnappers need to get out more.  A long holiday in Caracas or Pyongyang would do them a lot of good.

Finally, the bogeyman of inflation isn't just a concern in the U.S.  Its rising in most of the Western world.  We Americans are leading the charge, though.  It's always "go big or go home" in the good ole USA, after all.  Brace yourselves, and think twice about buying treasury bonds.

Gimme My Liberty Back!

Friends, Happy Independence Day!  It's a great day to give thanks for the many freedoms and opportunities we enjoy as Americans...but it's also a fine occasion to lament the many freedoms and opportunities we've lost, due to the creeping growth of the "nanny state".  Our Founders knew better than anyone how fragile democratic republics are, but they expected -- or rather, they enjoined -- us to struggle valiantly to preserve what they created.  We've done a passable job of it, but we can and should do better.

As my second image suggests, today's also a day to ask the pointed question: if so many on the Left hate America for what it is, and demand its fundamental transformation into what arguably many other countries have already become, then why don't they spare themselves a lot of bother and just move there?  Answer: because they're full of crap, and the border hoppers demonstrate daily that this is still a country that people are surging towards rather than away from.  That tells you better than any sophisticated analysis ever could that America is still NUMBER ONE!!!  That's a pretty good argument, in my book, for why we should KEEP AMERICA GREAT and resist calls to upend her.

What's your view?

In other news, right-wingers in Europe are banding together to resist the expansion of the powers of the EU.  Good for them!  A better tack, though, might be to push for...Hung-xit, Pol-xit, Ital-xit, etc.

Finally, there's good news for those of you who only have sex with people you kinda like: you're queer!  As per Gov. Cuomo's daughter, who, since she's younger than us we can only assume is woke and wise, there's a new "sexual identity" in town: demisexual.  If you're demisexual, you're only attracted to people "when [you] have an emotional bond".  I believe that used to be considered...normal sexuality, but hey -- the queer-er, the better, right???  As you can see, with a little creativity, all of us can shoehorn our way into those Dem/progressive "protected classes" and enjoy the many fruits of government sponsorship, cultural dominance and non-stop "celebration", and, best of all, the "trauma" of "oppression", which yields eternal moral superiority.  Step up to the plate, friends!  Let your freak flag fly!

Some Signs of Life from SCOTUS's "Conservative Super-Majority"

Friends, we all enjoy sticking it to those lefties, judicially and otherwise, and the good news is that the Supreme Court is doing just that, albeit in a quiet and understated manner...so far.  The recent Brnovich decision is a big deal, because it means that SCOTUS plans to give short shrift to Democratic/progressive legal theories that say that ANY attempt to criminalize or prevent election fraud is just white supremacism in disguise.  Frankly, the effect of most election laws is modest, but it's refreshing to see the Supreme Court uphold the semi-sovereignty of the states on these matters.  Kudos, SCOTUS conservatives!  Now that you're all warmed up, how about overturning Roe v. Wade and/or scuppering race preferences for an encore?

In other news, a Manhattan prosecutor has DJT in his sights, although so far his investigations have only produced nuisance charges against non-Trumps.  Better luck next time, Cy!

This is an insightful analysis of the electorate as it coalesced in 2020.  The big takeaway: voter behavior in 2020 was broadly consistent with what we saw in 2016, but the makeup of the electorate itself shifted in small ways, in almost all cases to the advantage of Democrats.  To put it another way, if the same electorate had voted in 2020 as in 2016, Trump would have won.  Alas, the college-educated, immigrants, and young people are growing constituencies, and the GOP isn't exactly crushing it with these groups.

What explains the Dems' electoral successes of late?  If there's one factor that dominates, it's the rising percentage of the electorate that is black, Hispanic, and Asian.  Look at it this way: this was not so long ago a country in which whites were close to 90% of voters.  Now they're less than 70%.  And that number will shrink even further in the years to come.  This is what we might call the "California Effect".  Similar changes in the Golden State yielded a one-party state there, with immigrants supporting Democrats and suburban Republicans fleeing to greener pastures in other states.  If the GOP isn't careful, the rest of the country will be Californicated, as it were.  On the other hand, California is having a recall election in September that gives the state's Republican Party its best chance in years to make a comeback.  The odds are probably against it, but it all depends on who's motivated to show up and vote, and you just never know...

Our glorious Attroney General, in his infinite wisdom, has halted all federal executions.  Bloodthirsty killers everywhere will be mightily relieved.  Theoretically, this is just a temporary measure, but mark my words: I'd be shocked if the feds executed anyone else before 2025...unless maybe they decide to start putting members of the Trump family before firing squads.  That's a 50/50 proposition.

The obscene progressive betrayal of the lower and middle classes that occurred during our recent pandemic is only beginning to become clear to analysts.  Sure, the government threw money in all directions in 2020, but mostly it hurled stimulus in the direction of those who were rich to begin with.  More government yields more equality?  Don't bet on it!!!

Another story you can file under "rank hypocrisy" is this one about Amazon's expanding carbon footprint.  Just like China, which promises to become "greener" as it builds new coal-fired power plants and increases its carbon emissions, Amazon says all the right things about "climate change" and then quietly builds a great big fossil-fueled bonfire in its backyard.  Luckily, they have more than enough money to buy off the eco-conscious journalists who might otherwise report on such matters.

Finally, in case you thought it was only schoolchildren who were being indoctrinated in critical race theory these days, a.k.a. the unbearable shame of whiteness, here's evidence that our men and women in uniform are undergoing "anti-racist" reeducation as well.  With any luck, such "struggle sessions" will turn every one of them into Republicans!
