Friends, the mainstream media labored mightily in the leadup to the 2025 elections to convince voters that we're in a recession, jobs are scarce, and prices are ever-so-high! In other words, the media and its leftist masters wanted to capitalize on economic unease to defeat the GOP, and it worked. Of course, as I have (convincingly) argued elsewhere, it's all malarkey, as old man Biden would say. The economy is doing just fine, the job market isn't great, but it isn't dreadful either, and inflation is well under control, with wage gains more than accounting for rising prices. President Trump, in any case, is in a difficult position. He can't deny or minimize the economic headwinds that some Americans face, but neither can he afford for the economic successes of his administration to be ignored by the public. He has to be sympathetic to those who are suffering, but also he needs to be a cheerleader for an American economy that in many ways ought to sell itself, but won't, for obvious reasons. Luckily, the elections are behind us, which means the media can afford to ease up a bit on the doom and gloom. The result is higher approval ratings for Trump, and an opportunity to sell a new message of hope and opportunity to the American people. With any luck, Trump can pull it off. He's going back on the road, campaign-style, to do so, which is a positive sign, because Trump does best when he's speaking directly to the voters, without the filter of the talking heads. Bon chance, DJT!

In other news, the incomparable Jack recommends this article to you, about the decline of the "climate cult". I agree with almost all of it, except the assumption that, because climate catastrophism is false, it will inevitably fail and be recognized for what it is: deception. No -- unfortunately, phony scandals and crises can be sustained for years, even decades, if the forces behind them are powerful and clever enough. Climate change is still, for much of the world's population, an existential threat, not necessarily to their lives or livelihoods, but to their fragile emotions, and as such I expect that we'll be hearing about it for a long time to come. Young people have proven especially vulnerable to this chimera. Nonetheless, as the article makes plain, the political salience of climate alarmism does seem to be in decline, and that's something to celebrate.

Dr. Waddy from Jack: Thanx for posting it. Climate alarmism is just the latest disingenuous power grab by the far left. Their totalitarian national leadership was an unmitigated catastrophe and almost everyone knows it. Their economic policies were a murderous imposition bereft of common sense. Marx , Lenin , Mao: they were wrong, wrong, wrong and inhumanly so in their willingness to destroy incalculable hundreds of millions of lives. But they remain the darlings of credulous and potentially savage "American" "fundamental transformers".
ReplyDeleteSo if as the article maintains, their latest imperious and intolerant effort to force us along the road to earthly perfection is fraying and failing , that is very good fortune for us. As soon as the issue was embraced by radicals it became subjective and political rather than objective and scientific. And it was enforced with all the vicious bigotry which is customary to any far left conviction. If it's on the way to history's ash heap , then "bright, sunlit uplands" are in store. Sunlit but not by forced overuse of solar power that is.
In beleagured NY state I hope our common sense gubernatorial candidate , Rep. Elise Stefanik, uses this issue to great effect against our far left servile present Governor, who wishes to purge abundant natural gas from our state. That of course defies all common sense since we sit on an ocean of it here but then , that is routine in a one party dictatorship ever more burdened now by Comrade Mamdani's onerous rise in pathetic NYC. America, please, take good note of what our state's oppressive policies confirm; in the one party totalitarian hell hole the far left promises us ALL in America, the climate humbug plays an ominous and transformative role. "Human generated global warming" is but the latest vehicle the potential political monsters among us embrace in order to justify subjugating us to their "irrefutable" wisdom , their utter contempt for redeeming American verities and their comprehensive dictatorship.
Dr. Waddy, I think your reservations about some of the assertions in the article are plausible. Lets all hope for deliverance from this latest far left dance of death.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Not everyone has the time or will to follow politics and current events. If they did the far left/Dem party would be a ridiculous outlier. Who in their right mind would support a party which subscribes to the following conviction: "Our population is shared by the 'productive', who are in reality simply privileged and the unproductive, who are simply and undeservedly unlucky. Justice consists in erasing this unendurable and artificial inequity by any means necessary" .
ReplyDeleteConveniently ignored in this belief is the fact that our civilization devotes massive resources to alleviating "poverty" but that a cynical number of the unproductive are willfully so and demonstrate this in crime, sloth and pursuit of negative life styles. A nation as civilized as ours would not fail to meet the needs of the truly needy or helpless and accusations from the far left that efforts to confine national financial aid to those who , common sense says, need it , are knowingly disingenuous and bad willed.
Were the "American" far left to attain the arbitrary, incidental and dictatorial rule it seeks it would take all from the formerly productive but would at the same time manifest universal destitution. That has been proven many times over in countries dictatorially cursed by far left dreamers.
My point is that any with this understanding would know full well that the Dems, especially now that the "Democratic" Socialists of America are advancing toward complete control of the party, has and does now with a vengeance, stand for unlimited "tax and spend "and if it brings about social conflict , all that much better for their radical expectations of "fundamental transformation" of a guilty U.S. Hapless "Kumbayaa"Biden, who pathetically thought the far leftists who worked him were people of good will, unapologetically enabled the inflation
which, though much mitigated by this confidently common sense Trump administration , persists in generating unneedfully high prices for some necessities. Just imagine how bad it would be if a Dem administration manifesting all the proven expectations for a far left regime, had been or stands to be restored! Who would wish that?
President Trump's now commenced campaign to keep us keeping on with his already tentatively successful economic policies deserves the support of all Americans who trust in our free enterprise system to sustain the miraculous well being it has afforded us. We can be CERTAIN that the increasingly marxist contaminated Dems will, in desperation, go to the wall against us. Its all they have left!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: BTW; its worth commenting on two developments which may deny our far left Governor in NY state another destructive term and the U.S. benefitting thereby from the example of her discreditation :
ReplyDeleteThe first is the prospect considered above of her having enthusiastically supported climate fanatics. That increasingly discredited doctrine maintains that all the world's peoples must embrace onerous political, legal and economic changes to their ways of life in order to meet a tenuously assessed present threat of earthly immolation done by our own profligate prosperity. She has been an unrelenting supporter of this dreamy baloney and has not hesitated to force it on our state (excepting of course herself; she is said to have recently installed a stove fueled by pernicious natural gas in her very home). Let us hope this costs her dearly in her effort to stay in office.
Second; the Federal Dept. of Justice has , at our President's insistence and our Attorney General's enthusiastic compliance , established a Department solely devoted to detecting and investigating the willful contempt shown our 2nd Amendment rights by states obviously and demonstratedly devoted to limiting, as far as they can, the Constitutionally affirmed rights of lawful gun owners and users. The dominating principle of this Agency is that 2nd Amendment rights are civil rights. And we how virtue signaling the far left is about civil rights! Nevertheless: " So sue us! That will take a few years and if you win we'll just pass new laws to vex you and prevent you from disturbing the peace: we've demonstrated that already!" Up until now that has been an almost irrefutable barrier to our defense against attack from bigoted far left condemnation of us and our Constitutional rights.
But now, the establishment of this Executive branch agency tasked with confronting this unapologetic injustice provides a whole new avenue for attack on it. Reflecting as it does the will of an assertive President I'm confident it will concentrate on states which have demonstrated unmistakeable will to discourage and prevent lawful gun ownership and use.Very prominent among these is NY and I hope to see its government, headed by a Governor who fully supports suppression of these rights, taken to such public task as may damage her prospects of continued tenure.
Jack, as I understand it, Dear Leader Hochul and the NYS legislature have backed off their campaign against natural gas, for now, which is a sign that they are political realists more so than climate zealots:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.syracuse.com/news/2025/11/new-york-abandoned-its-ambitious-gas-ban-and-legal-experts-are-calling-it-a-100-percent-political-move.html
But once Hochul's reelection is in the bank, as it were, could the gas ban reemerge? You betcha.
The recognition of the right to keep and bear arms as a fundamental civil right is welcome, but the degree to which the federal government can override (in a timely manner) local and state efforts to undermine it is...yet to be determined.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: In the late '50s and early '60s the Feds took over the administration of certain civil rights from the relentlessly recalcitrant governments of some southern states. Their educational and in some, their judicial systems, were then commanded by Federal administrators and Judges for years until they wised up. You CANNOT arbitrarily deny citizens a Constitutional right incorporated and enshrined in the Bill of Rights.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be entirely appropriate today for either the Federal Judiciary or the Executive branch to take over and reform NY state's unlawful misuse of its regulatory power in its gross infringement of the 2nd Amendment guarantee of the civil right of self defense and nonthreatening ownership and use of personal weapons, chiefly firearms. It should be done using the rationale that NY has blatantly, fully enforced a regime of regulation the chief purpose of which is to discourage the enjoyment of 2nd Amendment rights in its realm. . Central to its plainly demonstrated antipathy to a hallowed Constitutional right is its unmistakeable devotion to this presumptuous principle: "don't like our gun regulations ? So sue us! That will take years and meantime you are on the snide if you don't comply with them. And if you win in court, ahhh de nada! Our one party dictatorship will simply convene with haste and promulgate ever more restrictive rules. You know we'll do it ; we HAVE done it several times in reaction to Scotus rulings which didn't float our boat!"
NY's expressed and enforced , unpatriotic and incipiently totalitarian opposition to its citizens' 2nd Amendment rights , though yes, not as comprehensive as the oppression visited upon American citizens in the pre civil rights South, nonetheless is as blatant as to justify full Federal intervention and I hope this new weapons rights agency within our DOJ will prove the catalyst for American redemption of full Constitutional rights for NY state's now misgoverned citizenry.
Jack, the federal supervision of, for instance, voting rights in the South was the result of federal legislation, as I understand it, which was eventually superseded by court judgements, i.e. SCOTUS determined that "pre-clearance" of voting rights changes was no longer justified. Could a similar law be passed to try to guarantee 2nd Amendment rights? I don't see why not. Will it be? That seems less likely.
