Only in (Trump's) America...

Friends, lots of surreal stuff happens in the new-and-improved Trumpian USA that we're privileged to inhabit.  For instance, today, the President visited the construction site of the new Federal Reserve HQ, along with the Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.  He ambushed Powell with a report about cost overruns, and Powell was left squirming.  To be honest, on the merits, I side with Powell, in the sense that the cost of the Fed's new headquarters is really beside the point.  What's important is the Fed's enormous power, its lack of accountability, and its questionable decision to raise interest rates and keep them high -- much higher than other advanced economies around the world.  Will Powell ultimately lower those rates?  Probably, but he likely would have done that with or without Trump's prompting.  The more interesting question is how the relationship between the presidency and the Fed will evolve under these novel Trumpian circumstances.  Stay tuned!

In other news, we appear to have a Republican and a Democratic candidate for what is currently Thom Tillis's Senate seat in North Carolina.  RNC Chair Michael Whatley is our man, and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is theirs.  That ought to set off alarm bells, because Cooper has had a good run as Governor and will be a formidable opponent.

In another piece of ambiguous news, the Democratic Party is struggling with fundraising, but that doesn't mean that lefties aren't ponying up large sums of money.  Instead of giving it to the party, though, they're giving it to progressive "stars" like AOC.  In other words, if you feed rank-and-file leftists red meat, and they'll shower you with cash!  This means that the reports of the Left's demise are greatly exaggerated, but it also means that the movement may insist on descending down assorted neo-Marxist rabbit holes rather than tacking to the center and rediscovering a way to be competitive nationally.  That's okay by me.

Finally, the philosophy of the Trump Administration is clearly "billions for immigration enforcement, and not one cent for sanctuary cities!"  Well, along these lines, the infrastructure necessary for mass deportations is being scaled up, which is a good sign, because it means that Trump and Co. are serious about getting the job done.

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack: By your leave I'm going to vent on the following while its on my mind. Then I'll have plenty to say about your comments above:

Its getting hard to find superlatives to characterize the good the Trump administration is doing, its an almost daily occurrence.

Columbia U's settlement with the Administration: Lots of very good features: A "pledge" to end DEI in many settings; bolstering Jewish studies: full compliance with Title IX in ending biological male competition on female sports teams and more.

Pres. Reagan said "trust but verify" and that really fits in this situation. The settlement's requirement of a "Monitor" to ensure compliance with anti DEI measures mandated by the settlement reminds me of the Federal supervision of the provision of certain civil rights in a very recalcitrant south in the late '50s and the '60s. Columbia's dominant administration , faculty and student far leftists are probably emotionally shattered by the necessity of having to accept such a heretical imposition. But they have no choice; they depend on them taxpayer bucks! And they'll get some of 'em back if they are good little reprobates. In related news, I see Penn. has agreed to "apologize" to women athletes for forcing biological males onto their sports. I'm sure they had to do a few shots before they could muster the nerve to do so.

Kudos to the Trump administration for going promptly and directly to the heart of the matter with these "universities and playing hardball with them. Nothing short of that would have moved these shamefully radicalized , formerly exalted institutions. Let this be exemplary to other so degraded but Federal funding consuming schools. And let it be a promise to the taxpayer, clearly and immediately kept, of our President's determination to end such presumptuous misuse of our taxes in all settings.

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: We are really lucky we have never had a far leftist President as determined as is DJT. Johnson perhaps was so in some ways but he was still a loyal American. The Clintons? Slick Willy has ever only one thing on his mind, which is getting high by any means. Hillary was denied the executive power she would have exercised with intensely vindictive and hate filled resolve, thanx to DJT. The Obamas intended revolution but those luxurious perks of office proved too much to hazard. Biden was a cipher; his still personally unidentified Svengalis did America much dirt under his foggy cachet but before they could follow through on a second term he wilted and Kamala certainly could not seal the deal.

DJT has followed through with his promise to return the border to lawfulness and correct the immigration dysfunction and disorder purposely created by the Marxists who shamelessly used pore 'ol Joe. He has displayed a canny , courageous resolve unseen since at least FDR, even bettering Reagan and is compiling a truly astonishing record of sorely needed reform after 60 counterintuitive years of leftist intimidation of our polity.

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: OK, I say. Lets finally have it out with the radical left; we have never been in a more advantageous position to do so. We have done them very great damage since Nov. '24. Their apparently dominant reaction is to cleave ever further to the far left. That's good but we must follow through on our present advantage in order to deal them final political marginalization ( ahh, let them then sojourne in their leftist oases, which could become no more than harmless tourist attractions like Woodstock, NY. )

So small donors are helping to fuel this Quixotic and desperate campaign by the crazy far left wing of the terribly degraded dem party. If only they comprehended the demonstrated contempt the dominant dem far left leadership has for the "people". Think not? Just consider the many, many times proven historical record of the far left in power. All but the "more equal than others" party cadre are enslaved! And you can see it starting in prospective far left hell holes in NYC, NY state and Kalifornia. Think "American" leftists are any different ? Naaah, why even take that chance?

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I think that, in a sense , you hit on the main point in much of the Trump administration's onslaught on presumptuous far left usurpation of our taxes to promote its incipiently totalitarian agenda. It may not be the amounts at contest now, but the long-standing profligate attitude which engenders these wastes which is at such blatant fault.

I do not suggest that Powell is a far leftist but he may display some significant resistance to the Trump administration's salient principle on proper use of taxpayer's earnings. "Is it plainly necessary? If not, it then involves often political value judgements best left to the market or to state governments not captured by tyrannical Marxism

  5. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Oh I saw a good one on MSNBC today. It was a a tribute to the Capitol Police featuring fluttering flags, marching ranks and the stirring visage of a stalwart veteran officer. It lauded them for their service in putting down the Jan. 6 "insurrection" . Of course no mention was made of recent dedicated police efforts in NYC, LA and in the 2020 "disorders".

I mean no knock on the police at all; they did their duty on Jan.6. But MSNBC's sincerity in this presentation is highly suspect to say the least. This is an outlet which regularly hosts the "defund the police "crowd and gives much air time to a commentator who is no friend to the police anywhere nor to the law abiding.

You know when the far left stoops to overt "patriotism" that it is getting desperate. Military loathing slick willy taught the dems how to preempt issues and dishonestly present them as their own. They often disingenuously complain about DJT being a threat to a U.S. democracy for which they have proven they have only withering contempt. Why, It stands in the way of their totalitarian takeover.

MSNBC is pathetic. But I wish their channel a long run because they present an unrelenting and telling example of the degradation which envelops the America hating "American" far left.

  6. Dr. Waddy from Jack: On the development by the Trump administration of the material means to accomplish its stated objective of restoring law to our borders over the frantic antiAmerican objections of a beleagured "American" far left. Even though their guts told them that DJT would be an unprecedented opponent

, they were nonetheless unprepared for his unshakeable resolve. They know now! They tried to shake it and he shook them off!

They have no ready answer to this existential threat to their now 60 year effort to destroy our country, They have so far reflexively repaired to the rank far left reaches of their party. They were accustomed to half baked resistance from apologetic GOP opponents; they were unprepared for an hombre street fighter willing to get down and dirty with them.

Some of them are far too sensitive to get into such a bare knuckle fight. But they also have a faction which demonstrates vicious intent but cannot abide receiving what it blithely dishes out. To really succeed now they will have to go underground and adopt unrelenting sociopathy, as did their historical Marxist idols. But the U.S. is not prerevolutionary Russia or China.

  7. Dr. Waddy from Jack: What cringing and slavering deference is paid by well to do donors to far left Dems. Do they think they would be there
by spared the scaffold when the "revolution" succeeds? Silly babies!

They need only read history. The proven essence of far leftist power is the unimpeded ability to manage any issue according to their unimpeachable and incidental wills. Doctrine which inspired heroic effort in support of it is subject to change at any time according to the whimsical dictates

of a highly concentrated elite which brooks no doubt of its wisdom.

A prime example can be found in the desperate and intense resistance directed at the Russian Bolsheviks once the reality of their totalitarian intent quickly became obvious.

  8. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I should not have said above ". . . to really succeed. . . ." I do not think such a fall would lend them any chance of regaining national power. But they are fanatics . . . .

  9. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I think its also possible that well to do virtue signalers contribute to commies either by assuming their beneficiaries will never gain real power, or by thinking that their largesse will give them immunity from the tribunals or even access to the rareified ranks of the dictatorship. They will do the former in order to make themselves feel good without risking personal hazard.

I think radicals hold them in deep contempt and will discard them as soon as they gain totalitarian access to their assets .

  10. Dr. Waddy from Jack: You are right to express concern about the North Carolina Senate seat.

The far left's continuing invasion of the south exemplifies their skill in disingenuous representation of their candidates as free of NY and Kalifornia style obnoxious far left convictions. Why, they MAY even be so but in office they have to support such as Pelosi, Jeffries , Schumer and they will be expected to go along with the new generation of rising Dem stars who are unapologetic far leftists. Failing this , they can expect to be denied the goals that the "smell of the marble" engenders in many new Senators ( eg. Obama).

Should the Dems achieve a Senate majority in '26 it will be dictated to (with unpleasant consequences for apostates ; I mean no more tolerance of Joe Manchin types) by such as Elizabeth Warren or Barry Sanders. Voters in N.Carolina who would never dream of voting for them would nonetheless have empowered them by voting for the subservient junior members from their mostly common sense state who would have no choice but to submit.

    N. Carolina: do you really want such as Warren, Sanders, Schiff, Durbin and whichever radical NY elects, ORDERING your Senator around!?Please don't vote for ANY Dem, because that's just what you will get from a Dem party which considers you "flyover country". Maybe you like your Governor but in the Senate, he'll have to vote Dem and that means voting with the antiAmerican , far left wing captured Dem party.

  11. Jack, the humbling of elite, even Ivy league, institutions of higher ed is glorious to see, and it will put the fear of God into many other colleges and universities lower on the food chain. Will they uphold their pledges to behave less obnoxiously? Time will tell. In the long run, we need wholesale personnel changes in their administrations and faculty, of course.

Jack, the Left's adulation towards law enforcement is about as credible as Slick Willie's marriage vows, but I find it interesting that MSNBC is still harping on January 6th. I mean, COME ON!!!

Jack, you'll be glad to hear that the Dems' have only a very marginal shot at taking control of the Senate in 2026. That would be a pretty good disaster, though, so let's not take anything for granted.

  12. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Yeah that is good news; keeping the Senate would allow DJT to keep Scotus on course should a vacancy arise. It would be nice too to add a little padding; Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are making real pests of themselves.

Loss of the House would of course mean impeachment; ho hum, what else is new? Actually, it could keep the vindictive Dems tied up and distracted in such an assuredly futile action. But it would make it very difficult to continue to encode DJT's initiatives. It would also give Chairmanship of Committees to Dems who would of course use them for guerilla lawfare. Perhaps though, Jeffries unchained would remind the American electorate of how intransigent ,destructive and antiAmerican the Dem party is, in time for '28. It would also remind America of the continuing onerous effect of NY state's one party dictatorship on an America which is sick of the "Empire State's" outsized and counterintuitive influence.
