Friends, I found some of the statistics in this piece quite eye-opening. In a nutshell, under Biden, the vast majority of new jobs went to immigrants and "migrants", i.e. immigrants who decided they didn't feel like waiting in line or filling out any forms. Under Trump, it's American-born workers who are getting the benefit of new job opportunities, and who are enjoying lower inflation and steady wage gains to boot. Isn't that how prosperity ought to be defined, at the end of the day? Shouldn't it benefit primarily those of us who already live here, and shouldn't we be allowing in new people ONLY when doing so enhances liberty and the standard of living for all? Seems to me like Trump is finally getting some of these economic fundamentals right. Bully for Trump!!!

ReplyDeleteAll bad jokes aside, what jobs are we talking about? I doubt federal jobs with all the reductions taking place. Are we talking about high tech? What JOBS are we talking about, specifically? Maybe more job openings for prison guards in federal correctional facilities? Sorry, don't trust pro-Trump propaganda that says the economy is wonderful, and all in generalizations to tout the current regime.

ReplyDeleteThat guy in your article illustration looks like an American-born worker of Hispanic ethnic descent. BUT, what if he was born in the U.S. and his Mom was illegal? But who cares, because the illustration says that there are apparently lots of jobs in construction due to our booming Trump economy. Got to go! Looks like a cleanup on aisle 5 at my new Walmart job.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I think DJT is fulfilling our hope that he would return as a far more effective President. I would imagine that a prominent NYC businessman has always had a creditable knowledge of our economy but it probably took him time and experience to adapt it to the Presidency. Maybe we are somewhat accustomed now to the idea of a President coming directly from the world of high finance and enterprise with no prior political experience but it really is historic and astonishing . That he is a formidable President is certain I think and he may well be a great one. That may open the way for others of highly accomplished but non
ReplyDeletepolitical backgrounds.
And I share your enthusiasm for his increasing economic sophistication. What a break for our country after what we can safely assume would have been rapidly forced far left centralized dictation of our economy and sectors such as "the environment" which have such a direct role in our economy. "Drill baby, drill" may well be having a stupendously favorable effect; for the Dems it would have been "sit, baby ,sit!'The dems would have been so enveloped in relief at having suppressed Trump that they would have gone on a presumptuous spree of dreamy experimentation in any aspect of our public and private lives which attracts their omniscient attention.
Though I am a rank amateur in understanding economics it does appear to me that his return is manifesting many favorable developments. The article described some of them.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: A commentator on Fox today opined that if Mamdani is elected he would have a very malign effect on NY State. He said maybe no other present state government is as ready to countenance openly and clearly far left measures both in NYC and the state upon which NYC exercises ignorant and unapologetic sway.
ReplyDeleteThe arrogant and dismissive dem NYC dominated dictatorship in NY state has already demonstrated its contempt for the common sense , down to earth often rural cultured upstate population. Eg. It has done so in considering farm crippling wage and "overtime" requirements on NY state's abundant agriculture and in "so sue us" anti 2nd Amendment measures on lawfully armed NY state citizens. Many, many of those in NY state gov't, who represent or defer to NYC and its proximate environs refuse to recognize any need to empathize with upstate. Staten Island and Long Island may be exceptions to this reflexive cultural disdain.
Upstate N.Y. should be free of the dismissive amoeba on the Hudson, which is in so many ways its political and social antithesis. But I think there is only one way that can be manifested - by Federal force. That was used in the late '50s and early '60s to impose on some southern states just measures they would never have adopted on their own. The inherent historical and cultural animi were too prevalent to be countered at the state level and U.S. citizens were being consequently denied full citizenship and its Constitutional guarantees.
So it is with NY state and the stranglehold lala land NYC holds on the state by its presumptuous imposition of its cultural, legal and political standards on an American upstate which is highly offended by this casual presumption and NYC's forceful export of its irresponsibly counterintuitive ambience .
President Trump has already warned Mandami that he will not tolerate communist administration of NYC and the U.S. citizens therein. He or his GOP successor may of necessity have to extend this promise to NY state government. Of course , a possible Dem Presidential successor, even one who disingenuously campaigned on being a "moderate" and an opponent of Comrade Mayor Mamdani, would beg off confronting him and his NY state minions. In that case (s) a still lawful Scotus could be the only upholder of the values of NY state's American populace (including those many in oppressed NYC under Mamdani.)
Right now we may have the means in our Federal administration, to prevent , or guarantee our deliverance from, communist rule in NY state. We must look to it! We may be on the verge of a frightful ordeal, as are all who fall under communist rule. Red America is, I am confident fully aware of the threat to it and ready to faithfully advance the conviction it proved in Nov.'24, that the far left is historically proven absolutely intolerable to any civilized country !
Ray, you make a fair point that not all jobs are created equal. Some of the jobs we've lost were great ones, and some of the jobs we've gained are subpar. Be that as it may, most people want (or at least need) a job, and thus the fact that so many of these opportunities were channeled to immigrants under Biden is significant. Truth be told, for the last 50 years legal and illegal immigrants have provided much of the dynamism in our economy. Trump is trying to reimagine that economy in a way that serves native-born Americans first. I like the concept.
ReplyDeleteJack, I saw a poll that showed something close to a three-way tie between Mamdani, Cuomo, and Sliwa! That means Sliwa has a chance. It also means Mamdani and Cuomo have a chance. Now, I don't think that Mamdani can make NYC "communist", but he can make it poor and hopelessly corrupt. He can make it a hollowed out version of itself. Could the Feds dismember New York State in response? Not easily. That's only happened once in our nation's history: during the Civil War, when, if we're to be honest, the rule of law was utterly cast aside. I'm not saying it can't happen again, but there's little reason to expect such an outcome.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: That poll is very good news! An appearance that Sliwa has a chance may motivate many who like him but have thought he has no chance. Sliwa may be able to tap into a heretofore recalcitrant reservoir of good will toward him due to his selfless advocacy for common sense NYC residents who DO NOT excuse criminals. Guiliani made his reputation and his election by courageously opposing organized crime. Perhaps Sliwa can build his ascent by his equally gutsy stand against disorganized crime.
ReplyDeleteAs usual yours is a voice of common sense refrain from very unlikely predictions. I am certain the "American" far left lacks only the totalitarian power to impose marxist hell on an "evil" America. But their acquisition of it is most unlikely . Nevertheless, in what power they can garner they can do much dirt and that reality bids us recognize in them an existential threat to our culture if not necessarily our governmental integrity.
How much of their presumptuous and wrongheaded meddling need we tolerate? This is especially relevant now since we have a President with already demonstrated resolve to destroy the far left's onerous influence on our civilization. He has credibly warned Mamdani that he will not countenance "communist" administration of NYC and in that I think he strongly implies that that includes communist inspired , quasicommunist presumption.
I believe that West Virginia went through the lawful process of being admitted to the Union , though initial separation from Virginia was accomplished by military action not having as its prime objective creating a new state.
Let's say Mamdani did arrest Benjamin Netanyahu? Our present President's reaction would be very summary and forceful I think. Supposing he did try to "condemn" some private property, maybe by conveniently misusing eminent domain? Again, I think this administration would prevent it. Military occupation of NYC , after the example set in the south in the late '50s and the '60s might be used. Separation of Upstate from NYC might be found to be warranted in order to protect the civil rights of NYers from possible yet unrelenting far left dictation. But that might not be a solution for law abiding common sense NYC residents. So, perhaps direct Federal administration of some of the organs of state government, or that of NYC, as was done in the south, might be necessary.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I should have said above "Suppose he did try to condemn property he believes to be unjustly owned . . . ."
ReplyDeleteHmm. If the creation of West Virginia was lawful, then I would say the floodgates might as well be open: ergo, let's create dozens of new red states...and secure the Senate for all time! I would be surprised if SCOTUS were to go along with this line of thinking, but, from a purely instrumental perspective, excluding non-citizens from redistricting calculations, and redrawing state boundaries, would be the two most effective ways to kneecap the Democratic Party as a national force.
