Welcome to the official blog for Dr. Nicholas L. Waddy, political commentator, historian, patriot, novelist, and wise man extraordinaire! Here you will find Dr. Waddy's latest musings on the political scene, as well as links to published articles, tv/radio appearances, and more...
This is exactly what I had in mind. Thanks much. Please do go on. Can you do something a bit more Germanic? Don't get carried away now, which of course I know you won't. What's that wartime uniform that Stalin used to have? No! Forget that! The possibilities are endless. But seriously, Trump really does need to be Chief of the JCS on a permanent basis. You know, I really do like that Continental Army outfit. Also, we need more parades, don't you think.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: He does have a uniform - the long red tie and the prolix overcoat and I think it may catch on. TOCB! "Take our country back!". Glory , glory hallelujah ! Our national worth IS marching on!
Ray from Jack: Ah dunno. . . DJT already is Commander in Chief and he probably can count on SecDef Hegseth, who outranks the Joint Chiefs , to carry out his wishes. A successful businessman is almost certainly a practiced delegator.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Got a couple more winners from the taxpayer funded NATIONAL Endowment for the Arts in 2024:
"LIving Streets Alliance :$90,000 to support' community activities ' (my quotation marks)and traffic calming interventions (well!)in Tucson AZ." Includes murals and traffic calming ( what da?!) street painting projects. What ? Floral lane markers for those most traumatized by the conventional ones, pray? Oh, the nation cannot survive sans such inspired opi!
"Arts Center of the Capital region , $60,000to support a grants program for individual artists in Troy, N.Y. (a much excoriated place in the area around the Imperial Capitol of the "Empire State". Not a cultural haven.) And may I ask, which artists and what have they executed up 'til now? Just askin'. . . . Perhaps the NEA didn't much care (ya think?).
Minnesota Marine Museum , $25,000 "to support an exhibition that examines the significance of water and its influence on America's past, present and future" Without doubt this is a subject never before broached in the very history of world academia and even if it had been, the results would be irretrievable even given modern information dissemination technology, yes? Kudos for this pioneering research on this exceeding obscure phenomenon.
New Jersey Theatre Alliance: an amount I neglected to record but which is no doubt considerable given the standard of the average earner:"to support equity (attn. DJT) based professional development for arts and art administrators." What the hell exactly does that encompass? Networking , informal even, I suppose?
Bronx NY: "$40, 000 for arts projects - dance - to support a program for street dancers to develop choreography and train 'freestyle' (my quotation marks for this very expansive but also redundant term; presumably such training should eliminate the need for paid instructors who would interfere with artistic freedom) and build performance skills".
Brooklyn, NY : $55,000 "to support a writing retreat and literary programming" . Such a masterpiece of specificity yet invites further ehhh, clarification. Where would such a retreat take place and would the taxpayer be supporting the open bar or . . . ? I thought good writing was a painfully lonely process.
Oh , and the National Endowment for the Arts STRATEGIC Plan FY 2022-2026's very introduction contains heartfelt expressed devotion to DEI! No doubt NEA administrators are making sad haste to comply with DJT's onerous command to abjure such a stance from the Federal gov't. Maybe not?!
And I have not been able yet to access N.Y.'s required NEA approved "strategic" plan for use of NEA allotted tax payer funds in2024. A statement of intent to follow such a plan appears to be incumbent upon the states.Yes, the list of executed projects is readily accessible, often loosely couched but the frank qualifying statement to NEA's thirsty far leftist ears of "INTENT" ? Not!
I'm about ready to apprise our excellent Congressman of what I have discovered; perhaps his staffers could approach NEA directly for access to these privileged plans. I don't dare approach NEA, directly; I really don't wish to be audited by a good ole friend of the NEA in the IRS.
Ray, more parades, uniforms, scepters, orbs, medals, cannonades, Bacchanalian orgies, and precision flyovers are definitely in order! Especially the orgies, but I may be showing my sentimental side there.
Jack, reaching out to your Congressman is never a bad idea, but I wonder if DOGE might be more likely to take your arguments to heart? What sort of missive did you have in mind? And please do reflect on the significance of water before, during, and after you opine. Why, you're 60% water yourself!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Give our Congressman's common sense and attention to his constituents I thought it best to make my NEA pitch to one as influential as he is and ask him to contact Doge But maybe a direct approach to Doge would be best; I'll check it out.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: My pitch: Federal support of local arts is not necessary and all Federal expenditures (except for almost universally cherished things like battlefields and some monuments)should be held to NECESSITIES only. Second: the consistent obvious left wing bias of the NEA, enabled in part by the NEA's apparent tolerance of sketchy descriptions of funded projects, is a gross misuse of the American tax payer's funds. It amounts to political advocacy, not art.
