On the Brink?

Friends, as we approach New Year's Eve and the official start of 2024, a lot of people are reflecting on the state of American democracy, Western Civilization, our popular culture, our economy, etc.  So, naturally, am I.

What were the top stories of 2023, according to Yours Truly?  I believe the main development that imperils our freedoms and our way of life is the redoubled efforts by the establishment to restrict and control speech, and to stage-manage the democratic process itself.  Here I'm thinking about the full court press by the powers-that-be against Elon Musk and Twitter, the major federal case that is examining whether the U.S. government can coordinate with social media companies to silence dissent, and the campaign of lawfare against Donald Trump, the likely GOP presidential nominee in 2024, as well as other conservatives -- up to and including the efforts to purge the ballot itself of every candidate except Joe Biden.  All these developments threaten the very foundations of our pluralistic democratic/constitutional system.  They bear watching, to say the very least!

Another major story that I think many people missed is India's new status as the world's most populous country, combined, as it has been, with major political, social, and especially economic setbacks for Red China.  As Russia and China and arguably the United States falter, countries like India will loom much larger in the future than they do now.

Another theme that has caught the attention of many in 2023 is the rise of artificial intelligence.  Some are excited about these developments, some are terrified, and some are just confused.  All these reactions are understandable.  What's certain, though, is that we're only seeing the very beginnings of A.I.'s transformative impact.

What do YOU think were the most important stories of 2023?  I would love to get your perspective.

  2. Dr.Waddy from Jack: in Richard the Third, Richard in extremis cries " . . . I have set my life upon a cast and I will stand the hazard of the die! " Similarly I think 2023's story has been of the antiamerican left's allout effort to gain dominant and near at hand totalitarian victory by destroying Nemesis, DJT, at any cost. They are terribly afraid of him and regard the tormenting possibility of his return as complete catastrophe, as well they might. A reelected DJT will face them with far more experience and a terrible resolve to disempower them for their incalculably vicious onslaught on him, his family and the America he represents

Don't worry about anything. Taylor Swift will become President Elect in 2024, and Alcatraz will be reopened for DJT. Somehow, Greta Thunberg will become our Director of The Environment.

  3. RAY TO DR. WADDY AND JACK

The Year 2023 was just another year with the Left controlling: The Entertainment Industry, The Media, and Higher Education. Why not, they worked hard to do it, beginning around 1923. Kind of like a slow growing, but inoperable Cancer in the final stages.

  4. Raymundo, I wish you all the best for 2024 as well! Say what you want about America's Gotterdammerung, but it's endlessly amusing to watch...

Jack, I think what Richard III, and Shakespeare, were getting at is that, sometimes in life, mere chance determines our destiny. Some people can embrace that harsh reality -- most of us desperately try to avoid admitting it. For instance, say DJT wins in 2024. Will Biden surrender power to him, or will he put Trump himself and a good number of his supporters to the sword? The answer could depend on a little twist of fate like what Sleepy Joe had for breakfast that day, or whether his dementia was acting up, or whether the last Trump sound bite he heard was caustic or conciliatory. Anyway, the larger truth is that you and I don't control America's fate, and thus our own. God does. So buckle up and be prepared for anything!

Ray, of all your predictions, I think Trump (politically) entombed at Alcatraz might be the most plausible. I predict the warden will be trans.

Ray, as you know, cancer has a fun time of it...until it kills its host. One wonders whether any establishment leftists have considered this.

  5. Dr. Waddy and Ray from Jack: On Jan. 21, 2025 let Acting President VP DeSantis pardon him. Fini la comedia!
