Friends, today socialists and Republicans are in perfect agreement! They're united in celebrating Abdul El-Sayed's win in the primary to determine the Democratic nominee for Michigan's open Senate seat. Socialists love him because, well, socialism, but Republicans are excited because he's a hardcore leftist and may well go down in flames, making it darn near impossible for Democrats to take control of the Senate in January. Let's hope so!!!
Dr. Waddy: Its probably one thing for this neomarxist to win an election in which the entire electorate consists of Dems ,unless Michigan has one of those bizarre crossover primary arrangements , in which case lots of GOP might have invaded to secure a perceived unelectable opponent for Nov. Its really not a big jump from an already markedly radicalized DSA/Dem party to outright loony left. They've sought to have unwanted and unneeded "fundamental transformation" forced on America for some time now .

I expect El Sayed will make a disingenuous turn to the middle in order to get elected to the Senate and then be free to bustle in vindictive far left dudgeon. He may well banish Mr. Piker his company for the endurable three months in which he must "front" being just another good 'ol union hall bib overalled fella.
What would be sweet, though it would be harrowing, would be to see equally proletarian Senator Fetterman kill El Sayed's triumphant accession in the shell on election day morrow by bolting a DSA/Dem party which is recklessly pushing this Pennsylvania patriot and turning him into a reliable and revealing touchstone for their now double time march toward bolshevism.

ReplyDeleteDon't forget that El Cid (Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, died 1099) is still the National Hero of Spain, and even Spain's socialists approve of that. And even while he was alive, Rodrigo liked to hobnob with Muslims from time to time. Just an historical tidbit.
Ray: I wonder if Muslim fighters thereafter were bade pay special attention to Christians bound to their horses.Perhaps they considered using the tactic themselves.

ReplyDeleteJack: My understanding is that during the filming of "El Cid" the Spanish expert on The Cid, Ramon Menendez Pidal advised on the set for historical accuracy. However, the producers and directors of the movie side tracked his advice. So, I guess we can assume that maybe that last scene falls in the category of "who knows for sure". There is an epic poem about The Cid, and I suspect a lot of it is myth of a sort to make Rodrigo Diaz look a lot better than he was in real life.

Time was already working against them by 2016.

Lo and behold! An all unexpected opportunity for our generation's radical rump to ruin the country they loath so much for having gifted them unparalleled prosperity and security has risen. The DSA already expects to draw perhaps decisive support from a new disaffected generation. To add to it though they may well benefit from the nostalgic "the way we were" crowd which sees in today's far left an unapologetic and assertive DSA after their very own example. At least the prospect of a triumphant valedictory amazingly yet in store for them and their ungrateful screed will propel them to the polls. A rampaging AOC would give them good rest. ReplyDeleteSimilarly, I agree with a comment on Fox today that its time for the GOP to make a strong effort to affirmatively welcome those fleeing the Marxist beleagured husk of the once loyal Dem party, into the GOP. Such an effort could be couched in these terms: " You were a faithful democrat but your party is no longer faithful to you. Its leadership either consists of clearly and frankly DSA radicals who fully intend to force historically proven catastrophic "fundamental transformation" of an America they hate, or those surrendering to them , eg. Charles Schumer.
Yes, as a liberal , you found the GOP unacceptable and would not have thought of voting GOP. But can you, with conscience ,embrace the very far left swing of your party? The far left still manifests the strategies and the incalculable evil it forced on hundreds of millions of unfortunates in the 20th century
We can be a refuge for you from this disastrous occupation of your once representative party by true, verifiable extremists. They are all the more condemned by their casual embrace of their 20th century almost inhuman exemplars like Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot. Do you really wish to abolish policing, the military and prisons ? Do you wish to dismantle our 225 year successful Constitution, which has outlasted almost any other country's vitally constructive principles , by doing away with the Senate, the Presidency as we know it and the vital
independence of the Supreme Court? Surely you would also harbor grave concern that such changes would have negative consequences you did not anticipate in your creditable wishes for change : "unanticipated consequences" or "collateral damage (eg. incipient Marxist totalitarian change ).
We advocate measured and carefully considered progress as is exemplified by America's, yes ,sometimes painful, but not frantically and wrongheadedly transformed history. Yes, we had a Civil War but its consequence was a preserved and much improved America united against the monstrous totalitarian threats of the 20th century. Need we repeat that 1861-1865 cataclysm? This time it might go terribly wrong.
You would be welcomed to join with us in defeating this declared threat to all America cherishes. There would still be room in our coalition for highly constructive, truly democratic progress free of the influence of those who would charge headlong into untested radical change.
Schumer says the Dem party has a "big tent". It does not; it is captured now by a thoroughly and militantly intolerant DSA grimly devoted to a forceful and complete overturning of American civilization to fit their fantastic views.
This perhaps decisive encounter in our nation's life will almost certainly outlast the midterms, into the '28 campaign, which will commence in Nov. '26. In the midterms it is probable that the DSA ,its Marxist views and those in the erstwhile "democratic " party who have (probably not unwillingly in many cases)knuckled under to them , will have made onerous gains . Following the classic far left pattern, the DSA will overreach and launch an all out effort to recapture the Obama "magic" wasted by , well, by the Obamas. The DSA will accordingly strive not to so waste another such opportunity.
I suggest this as an overall strategy for those who fully realize the unprecedented good fortune of being born American, incorporated in concise advertisement , of the gravity of this contest.
