Friends, DJT is encouraging Congressional Republicans to pass the SAVE Act, which in essence would require voter ID in federal elections. This is a broadly popular notion, but Democrats are bitterly opposed to it (I wonder why?), so it's very, very unlikely to pass unless the Senate scraps the filibuster, and the chances of that seem slim to none. Ergo, you can expect future elections to look a lot like past elections: messy and contested. On the other hand, there's real hope that the Supreme Court might unilaterally alter the political/electoral landscape in ways that would be profoundly helpful to Republicans. We've talked about some of those ways before, but here's another: it could eliminate illegal aliens from the count that determines Congressional apportionment. If that happened, or if President Trump succeeded in evicting all 15+ million illegals from the country, the Dems would lose potentially dozens of House seats. I like the sound of that!
Meanwhile, the murder rate is plummeting, in case you haven't heard. Liberals are puzzled, since isn't EVERYTHING getting worse in Trump's America? As this article makes plain, the concept that credit might be owed to Trump, or that the deportation of hundreds of thousands of criminals might explain some of the decline in murders, simply doesn't occur to Trump haters. Surprise, surprise! The big takeaway, though, is that, despite what the media might claim, EVERYONE in America is SAFER since Donald Trump took office.
Finally, Elon Musk is pivoting away from electric cars and Mars, to robots, AI, and the Moon. I, for one, look forward to employing a robot maid in my Moon mansion, and you should too!

Dr. Waddy from Jack: Virtue signaling Schumer conveniently ignored the fact that a frequently used tactic used in the Jim Crow South had nothing to do with their identity. Ostensibly it tested the educational level of those of whom it was required. "Now then, Mr. Smith, please name the third Emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Oh you can't, WELL, my dear sir, surely you can hold forth on the salient tenets of Zoroastrianism? No? why then , since a well informed voter is a necessity you are, sorry to say, not qualified". And Schumer might recall that it was his dominant Dem party which manifested this quaint custom in the pre civil rights South.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: And the far left/Dems who so histrionically oppose the Safe Act are firmly in the demagogic tradition of their Dem antecedents during that time. "Illegals then, illegals today, illegals forever in the U.S.A.!"
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: The bias in the article on the murder rate is obvious. Amid all the horrors of the Trump Administration , it sniffs, one must (grudgingly I''m sure) concede that something is going right; well yes, the murder rate IS down, but nothing else is good! It does speculate at length about ostensible causes for the drop in this shameful rate but none of them are thus accredited to our President's leadership.
ReplyDeleteOh nothing else to be glad of?! Not a border closed with remarkable dispatch? Not the Dow at over 50,000? Not in a time when the hysterical "human generated global warming" presumption and the frantic civilization tasking measures it has inspired are plainly whirling to the bottom of the bowl and the decisively dynamic American energy industry has been set free to prosper as only it can? No, not ANYTHING else?!
The source of that bias is twofold: it affirms a desperate emotional animus to a President Trump who knows the far left and their Dem captives for the incipient totalitarians they are and is devoted to and fully capable of, disempowering them. Can't blame 'em for being scairt. Imagine realizing that everything, all your righteous travail since the '60s ,is at risk of complete futility!
Its also because it threatens to disenfranchise the criminals so very exalted by reflexively contrary radicals. To them, thugs are the real victims and the law abiding, with their "oppressive" laws, are the victimizers. Why, if the "potentially revolutionary" criminal class is being prevented from being about its customary activities, then the leader thwarting them is profoundly unjust. That is their belief.
Bottom line , I think: the far left and its worker ants just DON'T WANT anything our President motivates or accomplishes , no matter how belated, welcoming and beneficial, to succeed. Why, it just makes them FEEL all icky inside! And gee, something sure is making murderous monsters "step off". Couldn't be that they know a real hombre President is on their case real bad; oh no!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Its a pleasure to commend to you a commentary by one Bjorn Lomborg (a Fellow of the Stanford Hoover Institution, a veritable oasis of common sense in a sea of far left bigotry )titled Why the Global Retreat from Climate Alarmism is a Good Thing, which appeared yesterday in our editorially very fair minded local newspaper:
ReplyDeleteHe commences by noting a remarkable paucity of frantic climate histrionics at the recent international Davos Conference, a setting here tofore dominated by such wishful thinking. He cites the Canadian PM, who once termed it an "existential" problem as one who now frankly demurs and pledges Canadian ascension to "an energy superpower". Well!
He observes that even Comrade Mandami "barely discussed climate change " in his rise to marxist sway. He notes that "voters have become sick and tired of constant climate alarmism" (and I might add, perhaps much more so with this unrelenting winter). Hooray for him to say so! How true it is. Its not only the counterintuitive nature of their pedantic scolding (eg. from Al Gore) but its increasingly obvious contempt for objectivity in favor of "unassailable" dreams , feelings , ruthless doctrine and vicious castigation of all who dare to question it.
He observes that "this retreat is good for sensible policy because the failed alarmist approach relied on a series of misrepresentations" . Of course it did, once it garnered the smoky embrace of far leftists, who saw in it yet another path to a forced perfect world, it became dumbly reflexive and violable only at penalty of heresy. The author risked this dread sanction by empirically documenting that "deaths from climate related disasters . . . have declined sharply over the past century "(a time I might add, not bereft of intense and very public introspection on all issues considered vital but in which this fear became only recently fashionable, after the cataclysmic failure of previous forceful mass attempts to "fundamentally transform " human nature unto perfection).
The author details "how activists and politicians DEMANDED (my emphasis) urgent , economy wide transformations , INSISTING (ditto) that only massive shifts could avert climate disaster "
(whatever that means).
His conclusion is eloquent: "The transition from exaggeration to muted realism is at least some progress. This reflects recognition that . . . fear tactics have led to public disconnection" (eg. this winter) "bad policies and political backlash. Now we need to focus on what works" (ala our gutsy, canny President).
Dr. Waddy from Jack: You creditably opined several months ago that a prudent policy toward the periodic climate shifts so very well proven in the inherent records of the good old earth and much predating perfidious humanity ,might better be met with alleviation and constructive reaction rather than premature, badly conceived and presumptuous attempted interception at terribly onerous cost. Your observation is much affirmed by very apparent present reality.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Fox today broadcasted the sincere, ;personally expressed gratitude of leaders in the clean coal industry to our President for his so very welcome , common sense firm support for that vital industry. They gave him an appropriate award, for which he was most gracious. That is the kind of support the guy richly deserves for his very courageous redemption of objective popular Federal administration in our country so grievously damaged by America haters!
ReplyDeleteLeaders of both labor and capital . . . Jack
ReplyDeleteThe equation of Voter ID with "Jim Crow" is complete nonsense, but it doesn't change the fact that VOTER ID, and even more so immigration enforcement, are potentially existential threats to the Democratic Party, which is all Schumer and his ilk care about.
ReplyDeleteThe failure of climate alarmism is indeed heartening, and it suggests that all leftist scaremongering will eventually founder on the shoals of common sense. That's great, but the problem is that these charlatans can always manufacture new boogeymen on demand. They excel at it! Common sense thus is constantly trying to keep its head above water, and little wonder that sometimes it falls short.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: A good measure of how much these dreamers have been forced to recoil may be seen in the NY gubernatorial election this year. Our far left factotum Governor appears to be "stepping off" of her quest to purify NY state but that might just be to get reelected.
ReplyDeleteCommon sense did finally defeat the once seemingly invincible world communist movement (but for backwaters like the American academy) and that was an astonishing and magnificent advance for civilization. Marxist exemplar Stalin once sniffed "the Pope? Why, how many divisions does he have?" His successors found out didn't they. And the indefatigable radicals' current obsession is foundering possibly beyond redemption.
We must help to keep the world reminded of how catastrophically wrong these reflexive iconoclasts have been in their frivolous and fanatic humbuggery since their malice was cursed upon humanity. Perhaps they will run out of credibility and will be reduced to holding forth only in sweltering fair tents as a hilarious sideshow and the target of urchins throwing rotten apples. Given more of the good fortune which has been ours recently perhaps, just maybe, their pompous pronunciamentos will be DOA in the foreseeable future.
Oh, how I would like to believe THAT! Unfortunately, "common sense" requires constant cultivation and/or object lessons in the dire consequences of stupidity, and I fear our country has had it too easy for too long, and is thus easy pickings for Marxist hucksters. Who even remembers Stalin or Mao these days? Only those who read books, and that's a very small minority...
