Xi Whiz!!!

Friends, we here at WaddyIsRight extend our hearty congrats to President Xi and the Red Chinese as they celebrate "Victory Day" with a show of military might.  I echo DJT's sentiments: "Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you conspire against the United States of America."  China might want to recall that, for all the billions they've spent on their shiny new weapons, there's virtually no one in their military who has ever fired so much as a pop gun in anger, so they might want to get their feet wet attacking, oh, Mongolia before they pick on the big boys...  I do, however, share Rand Paul's concern that our Big, Beautiful sanctions on India will force that country into China's and Russia's arms, and that would be a damn shame.

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack: BBC thinks that China was demonstrating a "united front" against the U.S. in this show of power.United Front was a term often used by the Chinese commies in their conflicts against Japan and the Nationalists. They weren't very "united" with the Nationalists against Japan and they turned completely against them as soon as Japan was defeated. Just sayin'.

Should we assume then that should we resist a Chinese invasion of Taiwan that we would be engaged by Russia, N. Korea and Iran too? What do we have developing here, another Nazi-Soviet style pact preparatory to a Chinese assault on Taiwan?

I am glad that China is strong enough to prevent any reprise of its devastation and humiliation by Western powers and Japan. Its understandably of vital importance to them. But how might they plan to build on the strength they already have? When and how might they feel safe?

The threat of advanced and multitudinous land based Chinese antiship missiles , as noted by BBC ,against our carriers could be substantial. If they were coming from Japan they would have to approach the Chinese coast to aid Taiwan .

Completely agree with you on India and, for that matter, Canada too. I think its unwise to antagonize either country. More and more India appears to be swinging in our direction in meeting possible Chinese aggression. And Canada? Ah c'mon they are a mostly good neighbor. Some Buffalo, N.Y. businesses say that they've had a sharp decrease in the number of Canadian customers from just across the river and the lake. This may be one suggestion of an unfortunate chill developing among Canadians towards us.

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack : In contrast to China, our military is very experienced, having been in some kind of action most of the time since 9/11. That must give China pause. I don't think they INTEND to tangle with us at some point but their resolve to be ready for any perceived foreign incursion on their sovereignty moves them to be as prepared for it as they can be. I think they probably don't trust Russia and they may well retain a visceral wariness toward Japan.

Freedom of the seas as a national right, which has been historically the cause of so much conflict , may become a vital concern for China as well as they expand their naval reach and sea borne commerce. They may, as so many countries have done, come to consider it as indispensable for their security. They may eventually come to consider the crescent of sea going powers flanking their East coast as a defacto threat to their freedom of the seas and that might further motivate them to take Taiwan, which is considered by some to be the keystone of the crescent.
