Friends, news reports conflict on what exactly the U.S. and Iran may be on the cusp of agreeing to... Some say it's basically a glorified ceasefire, with the Strait opened and Iran able to sell its oil again, but nothing but a commitment to ongoing negotiations on matters of real substance, like Iran's nuclear program. That would be a DISASTER. It would mean giving up all our leverage for nothing but empty promises. Trump himself, however, says that our blockade on Iran will remain in effect until a full and complete agreement is concluded. Perhaps between these two positions there are infinite shades of gray (or obfuscation, if you prefer)? My take is that we need to get this right: we need to win conclusive and historic victories over Iran, and lastingly end the threat they pose to us and to the region, and if that requires more financial sacrifice from the American people for a few more weeks, or months, so be it. Surrender is not an option!!!

RAY TO DR. WADDY
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing this up as a separate issue, again. Although the "excitement" when this war with Iran started has "evaporated", the event continues, like a bad hang-over.
Frankly, I don't trust Iran at all! They can sign all the hopeful agreements they want, but I still don't trust them. I can't imagine they are going to give up their nuclear program. No doubt in my mind they will try everything they can to revive it.
I'm sure President Trump knows all this, and will keep a jaundiced eye on them no matter what their negotiators decide. What a damn pain in our national side that we have to deal with this nut case country in the first place.
As grim as it is, one (or more) good things came out of our long overdue confrontation with the Aba-Dabas (my new name for the Iranians), is that The Euro-weenies have showed their true faces. In that regard, I see us out of NATO, but a stronger involvement with Poland, who still seems to like the U.S.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Maybe the sagacious mullahs think themselves uniquely prescient and that by 2029 they will be dealing with another spineless or even sympathetic DSA/Dem apologist for the American power which has preserved world civilization. A three year wait is nothing to those who reprise the 7th century AD. No doubt they "judge" that President Trump is an atypical and eccentric American and that fundamental obvious American luxurious depravity will soon enough reassert itself. "After all, those Americans cannot even countenance an inconvenient rise in the price of their exceedingly abundant gasoline, the fuel of their self indulgence. And of course , one day's, any day's , experience of their debauched popular culture is enough to confirm their moral lassitude and their overall degrading weakness."
ReplyDeleteWell, Germany , Japan and the Soviets banked on that notion too didn't they!
I agree word for word with your opinion on this Doc Waddy. Ray too and his observation on Nato and Poland is very interesting. Poland as a strong ally in itself: when one considers the world historical role which the pioneeringly courageous Polish people played in destroying the curse of Soviet communism, it makes very much sense. It would be an honor to cooperate with that gallant people.

ReplyDeleteI hope our efforts in Iran/Persia are more successful than are previous
"adventures" in past places people probably don't even know about.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: So, Comrade Mamdani has expressed his intent to "acquire" NYC real estate via diverse quasi legal subterfuges and devote it to "the people" under the omniscient guidance of his Marxist elite. One vocal subordinate of his even declares home ownership to be a manifestation of "white superiority" and predicts its demise under this Mayor.
ReplyDeleteNYC is entering upon a political ordeal of the worst kind. True, Comrade Mamdani has not been able to secure the military control of his realm necessary to murderously forcing his measures on a population soon to be made fully aware of the dreamy Marxist incompetence he advances. But he may well possess executive, intimidating and punitive power sufficient to make a rare old hash of things for the luckless common sense portion of the NYC population.
Most of the US may be able to simply look on in detached revulsion at this reprise of a long since historical and catastrophic humbug. But we in NY state must wonder: its bad enough being under the dictatorial rule of one party DSA/Dem state government consisting mainly of "know it all" reflexively far left "New Yawkers". But now we must watch for the inexorable advance of the "amoeba on the Hudson" ,now serving the purposes of a Lenin avatar, up into an extreme leftist takeover of our legislature and our executive branch. Right now we have an obnoxiously authoritarian state regime; today's subjugated NYC could make it a totalitarian one. America , we need you to step in; we can't outvote these people.
in this even declares home ownership an evil manifestation of "white superiority" and predicts its demise under the present Mayoralty.
Ray, you may "see us" out of NATO, as do I, but President Trump doesn't seem to have the moxie to pull us out, or pull it off. Most disappointing. Shuffling troops from Germany to Poland doesn't change the fact that, according to the terms of the NATO alliance, we must treat ANY attack on ANY member as a full-fledged attack on us. And, let's face it, any attack on Germany will probably go through Poland anyway. Ergo, we remain committed to NATO.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: yes , it doesn't make sense for us to pledge to go to war with nuclear armed Russia for the benefit of the Baltic Republics. But for Finland , Sweden , Norway, Denmark ,Poland , Germany and Ukraine it would be of vital importance. Maybe the way to go is for us to withdraw from Nato because even without us they have the power to cage the Bear. We can still choose to support a separate Nato should it be in our national interest.
