The Least Trusted Name in News

Friends, Warner Bros. shareholders have approved the acquisition of the entire company by Paramount, meaning, among other things, that Trump donors could soon be in charge of CNN!!!  Oh my.  Lefties are distraught, but I wouldn't expect a sea change overnight, or perhaps ever.  Paramount, despite its alleged Trumpiness, continues to pump out plenty of woke crap, and even finding non-Bolsheviks in the journalism profession will be hard.  Still, if the character of CNN were to change, although with hallowed liberal institutions like the Washington Post and CBS, the long-term cosmic effects could be most agreeable.  Personally, I'd settle for demoting Anderson Cooper to night janitor...

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I was switching between channels and the majority of news channels I looked at appeared to be free of far left bias. Maybe the TV audience has become as disgusted with far left presumptuousness and unrelenting hatred of America and is voting with its remotes.

We saw with talk radio as pioneered by Rush Limbaugh and when we laughed at the radicals' pathetic attempt to recapture an audience they still believed to be easy to flim flam , how feckless they are. Soon they may be reduced to only far left worshiping and employing MSNBC. That network sinks further into shame whenever it airs some of the beneath contempt demagogues it broadcasts with mindless regularity.

You have often convincingly said that in order to defeat the far left's continuing campaign to impose their totalitarianism on us all, we drive them out of control of vital institutions in our culture. Perhaps their virtually comprehensive exile from their insufferable misuse of broadcast "journalism" is within reach(?).

  2. Hmm. What were these channels supposedly cleansed of the leftist mind virus??? I'm curious!

  3. Dr. Waddy from Jack: CNN appears to have grudgingly stooped at times to some gestures of respect for common sense American values and perceptions. I neglected to consider the three traditional networks because I have been shunning them for so long; I've assumed they are unrepentant. I'll write down the names of the networks which have appeared to me to be open to conservative views and I''ll get back to you

  4. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I am not not aware of any of the following having been other than amenable to common sense and conservative views: Fox (the FLAGSHIP; heck, one of their erstwhile in house commentators is now fifth in line to the Presidency: Sec. Hegseth); Newsmax, Newsnation, EWTN (a Catholic network) and CSpan. I don't know of any besides CNN which manifest some slight actual or prospectively greater shift from far left bias. Any of the few times I watch the news from any of the traditional three, they almost always display assertive left wing slants on a very wide range of topics.

Are there enough to justify my thinking that far left servitude in TV and cable networks is waning sharply, perhaps toward almost complete discreditation? I remember when conservative views were treated with unwavering disdain on TV , so this is at least a very welcome and politically very important change.

  5. Dr. Waddy from Jack: My wrong: Sec. Hegseth is sixth in line, after the Seceretary of the Treasury. But there is another Fox alum in the Cabinet: Transportation Secretary Duffy.

  6. Jack, I don't watch any network, period, so I'm not in a position to judge, but several of the channels you mentioned are rated as "centrist", so that's...acceptable, I guess? Bias is a very hard thing to measure and quantify, though, and can exist on many levels: for instance, almost all the media is biased towards bad news, even if it doesn't insult Trump and Republicans on a constant basis. I would say a good metric of the media establishment, though, is where Americans actually GET their news, which now is more through social media than broadcast television. And where does THAT news come from? You'll find, for instance, that the influence of the NYT is pretty considerable, even though almost no one "reads" it in the old-fashioned sense...

  7. Dr. Waddy from Jack: I think people like myself , who have chafed for decades at the far left's imperious domination and degradation of our news media, have developed a visceral reaction to it. My antennae are almost always set to sparking in short order when I endure CBS, NBC or ABC news. MSNBC is of course far beyond the pale with its comprehensive and unapologetic lack of journalistic integrity.

I do not however, in citing such feelings on our part , seek to gainsay the sources which rate many of the Channels cited as centrist. They very probably used empirical evidence and that "Trump's" feelings most of the time.

  8. Well, "centrist" is a meaningless designation, if you ask me. One man's "center" is another man's Marxist hellscape.
