Friends, President Trump is sounding extremely optimistic that the Iranians are about to give us everything we want out of a deal: an open Strait of Hormuz, all the "nuclear dust" they can muster, a commitment not to enrich any more uranium, and more! Some voices in Iran are saying "hold your horses, Mister!" Well, they're saying it in a less idiomatic way, and in Farsi, but you get the idea. We could be on the cusp on ending this conflict and lastingly containing the Islamic Republic of Iran...or we could be on the cusp of Iran backpedaling, and the conflict reigniting. Nothing would surprise me, at this stage!
In other news, President Trump is talking about a potential game changer in 2026: the retirement of one or more of the conservative justices on the Supreme Court. This could dramatically raise the stakes for the midterm elections, since a Republican Senate would be essential to ensuring that Trump could replace Alito and/or Thomas with a likeminded right-winger. In turn, making the high court a central issue in the midterms could boost Republican turnout, which otherwise isn't looking all that robust, if special elections are any indication. It's all food for thought!
Finally, I've mentioned it before, but there is something of a school choice revolution going in America, and ground zero is the Sunshine State. Florida is making it possible for parents to design a curriculum around their kids' needs, and to send their kids anywhere they please to learn, or indeed nowhere, since homeschooling is very much in the picture. This flexibility is a model for how a publicly-supported K-12 education system ought to operate. Red states, take note!!!

Dr. Waddy from Jack: In our People's Republic of NY I think education in any setting, including home schooling, still bears the suffocating weight of presumptuous far left inspired unelected bureaucracy. Maybe Catholic schools successfully counter its most onerous effects but I'm confident that far left dissemblers are ever at their gates too. Wanta really get educated? Come see our State Education Building in our imperial capitol. It covers most of a city block. Our rubber stamp far left legislature regularly considers measures mandating more intrusive state involvement and of course the standards of communities beyond the NYC amoeba are held in bemused contempt.
ReplyDeleteSo it's good that much of America is reacting effectively to the far left degradation of our elementary and secondary school systems these radicals intend to advance their "fundamental transformation" of a country which neither needs nor wants such a comprehensive change. In so many ways, Florida is exemplary of an America utterly fed up with the dreamy experimentation forced on our children by graduates of teacher's colleges which are little more than far left reeducation camps. They are "taught" therein not to educate, but to lead maoist political"struggle sessions".
I should say Florida is leading the way in much of the groundswell , in addition to education, of action against the "American" far left's wide spectrum of targets for their frantic and dreamy transformative zeal! (eg. gladly now Floridian DJT and solid Gov. DeSantis).Serfdom 100 would be the prerequisite for life under subjugation from our radical rump!Jack
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: The composition of Scotus is always of terrible importance. President Trump may have to work fast in case the midterms go badly. Justice Thomas's health has been a matter for concern for awhile now.
ReplyDeleteIf both Justice Alito and Justice Thomas were liable to retire during President Trump's tenure it might be advisable for one of them to consider retiring now so that DJT can nominate a principled jurist and thereby probably ensure the preservation of a good Scotus majority for the remainder of his tenure. He would probably have enough time before 1/1/27 to defeat a typically prolonged ad hominem onslaught on any decent and courageous person he might nominate from the radical subjugated Dems .
We can be confident that if DJT or JD are in the White House that "far leftists need not apply" for Scotus vacancies.
Should the President have to deal with a far left/Dem Senate majority and Charles Schumer's assured viciousness , the seating of a lawful justice now would quite possibly assure the survival of an honest Scotus for a good while.
With our 6-3 majority we do have something of a safety net . We could now even endure a seat flip to the dark side but that won't happen with DJT or JD in the White House. Perhaps majority might cause some occasional principled dissenters on the majority to reconsider the stakes.
"Perhaps a reduced majority. . . . " Jack
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: I think very much points to a favorable cessation of organized hostilities in the Persian Gulf region. One of the factors I see therein is earned confidence in this gutsy President , who has demonstrated unexpected competence in many settings (eg, wisely measured effects on the economy; the summary closing of the border which pretty well proves that its porousness was intended by the far leftist intimidated Biden administration AND in foreign relations). He continues to demonstrate the vitality of just plain horse sense in the positive administration of the Executive Branch. Its all common sense and its success high lights the paucity of that virtue in his reflexively hate motivated detractors, including a once celebrated but now immeasurably shamed far left subjugated Dem party.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that he will ensure to us that the Iranian store of near weapon grade uranium is taken from them. And I hope he assures all the world that the vigilance made possible by modern technology will be employed by America in unrelenting surveillance and the ever present possibility of summary prevention of any reprise of Iranian nuclear weapon capability as long as the radical muslim faction of honorable Islam continues to misrule Iran.
Jack, that most who work in our public education system seek to indoctrinate our youth in leftist verities is beyond question. Luckily, our public education system isn't very good, or else this program of indoctrination might succeed!!!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of DeSantis, I wonder where he will land once he leaves the governorship? I very much hope that DJT will make room for him in D.C., or Florida will send him to D.C. as a Senator.
Hmm. Good point that, if the midterms go VERY badly, we could perhaps nominate and approve a justice in the interregnum before a Dem Senate majority is seated.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: True, true ; history often shows the far left falling from the cumulative doctrinally hobbled dumb weight of its own incompetence at anything but dissembling.
