Friends, kudos to President Trump, who has been named Time's "Person of the Year" once again (the first instance was in 2016). Of course, Time is part of the mainstream media, and thus its accolades mean little, but even the Fourth Estate seems to be developing a grudging respect for the man who simply refuses to die -- politically and literally.
Why did Trump win in 2024? The reasons are numerous, but one was a massive mistake by the Biden-Harris Administration, which decided to invite the whole world to move to the USA -- borders be damned! The record flow of legal and illegal migration put tremendous strains on the country, which Biden and Harris recognized in 2024 by ratcheting up border enforcement. Of course, they didn't do that out of any concern for the country. They did it to save their own skins. It was too little, too late, as it turned out.
MSNBC and CNN's ratings are way, way down, but as this article explains that's entirely predictable given the despondency now gripping leftists. The real question is: how long will they stay down in the dumps, and, when they make their inevitable comeback, how much vivacity will they be able to muster?
Finally, the Secretary-General of NATO is right to suggest that most European countries are freeloading off of the military strength of the United States -- although he would never phrase it exactly like that -- but he's wrong to argue that the solution to present tensions with Russia is more militarization. Russia is completely incapable of invading Europe. Why not settle the Russia-Ukraine War and then convince all parties to go back to minding their own business? Give peace a chance, I say!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: I haven't read a Time article for a long time but I think I'll check this one out. Usually reading that rag is about as redeeming as watching CBS news but . . . . I'm confident it will be full of left handed compliments but it will be interesting to see how they labored through what must have been an onerous editorial experience. The picture of him is a nice one but I do not necessarily see in it any manifestation of good will. They do have to sell magazines after all.
ReplyDeleteCan it be that the far left actually believes that it has been dealt a potentially decisive defeat and that their march to totalitarian sway can no longer be assumed inevitable? If this is so, what, if anything, can they do?
There is some talk in their chattering sites about going back to the DLC days after Dukakis fluffed in '88 and capped off a three election losing streak, where they made a disingenuous facile turn to the center. But then, they had the master con man, a consummate rollicking carnival huckster and amoral player, Slick Willy, at hand.
His equal is not available, although I expect AOC to make a try at his masterful deception, who can work the pollution of our Presidential residence that most tawdry couple imposed on it.
No I cannot yet believe that the antiamerican left is so far even capable of comprehension that it may have sustained a truly staggering repulse: "why we just didn't get our message out" - that tired old saw. Oh they got it out just fine thank you. It was most clear.
Some good will may emanate from the common sense rump of the dem party; it might even be reflected in a measure of grace in the Time article. Of course, who else could they have selected as Man of the Year? But I don't think the good people among the dems have the instinct for the jugular necessary to send antiamerica to the gutter where it belongs. No,it takes a resolution to demand unconditional surrender, to overpower rather than try to shame, these bizarre and presumptuous totalitarian interlopers in our democracy.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: How long will the far left stay in the appalling dumps produced by the unendurable election victory of one they hold condemned beyond measure ?
ReplyDeleteIn early 2015, nobody thought DJT's candidacy viable. His astonishing victory sparked in antiamerica an amoral resolve to prevent any future reprise of the insolent ruination of their night of shattered glass in the Javits Center as Hillary was denied her "due". More. . .
Dr. Waddy from Jack: After that "restoration" of righteousness in 2020 antiamerica resolved to ensure that it would never again be denied. And their lawfare and personal diminution machines swung into full vindictive onslaught.
ReplyDeleteBut they couldn't have reckoned (who could?) on the tenacity of a man who saw them clearly for what they were and persisted , as the 'happy warrior" he is , in insolent opposition to them.
Antiamerica's vicious antipathy to DJT says more about them than about him. They would have directed their detestable calumny toward anyone who dared to truly combat them . But he turned out to be their very worst nightmare, their Nemesis, and as inevitably destructive to their intent as was that Greek mythical semideity.
Dr. Waddy from Jack : In 1941 Japan took a terribly desperate chance by attacking the US and Great Britain in order to secure an East Asian empire which could grow more impervious under their thereby extended sway, guarantee them permanent unchallengeable dominance and forever disempower Westerners from reducing Japan to serfdom. They thought it was "now or never". Wiser council, to the effect that it was fatal to directly attack the West, was ignored.
ReplyDeletePerhaps similarly, Russia might be driven by what it sees as unendurable and relentless "nickel and diming" by the West upon its national integrity to ignore the near certainty that it cannot successfully invade any Nato country, nevertheless to make a desperate move. Maybe a Russian leader would be moved by physical fear of his hardliners or by the genuine love of country manifested by so many Russians to take such a chance in order to drive home Russia's resolve never to tolerate Nato in Ukraine or Ukraine in Nato.
Let our leadership show the painful humility and realism to accept the inexorable fact that Russia is immovable on that basic point and move to bring grim common sense to bear in this potentially catastrophic situation.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: "Respect" from the antiamerican left toward a DJT who has been their target of a prolix ferocious onslaught on his very person and on his family? Perhaps only Lincoln endured analogous derogation. Respect? Maybe . . . but I think more likely: a grudging courtesy at least for the time being in recognition that much of America is repelled by their positions and tactics. Maybe Clintonesque preemption is already being tried (well, why not?). "Why sure, we've always been for American energy independence." "Oh 'equity'is just equality on steroids and who isn't for equality in ALL things, yes? Equality, not payback of course". "Oh lock up lawless thugs and throw away the key, we've always been for that (especially for our opponents but don't tell anyone about that, why they might get the wrong message about us)".
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: The border invasion, including a possible last minute surge , has been an entirely purposeful effort by the antiamerican left, through its pitiful factotums, Biden and Harris, to work a fundamental change on America. They assumed that it would either provide for millions of new Dem (read radical left in effect) voters pitifully beholden to them for their unimpeded access to a blessedly orderly and prosperous land - OR - it would generate much social disorder due to its inclusion of hardened criminals seeking easy pickings far from El Jefe's tortuously imaginative Policia. The latter would help to advance the societal disorder American neo Marxists seek in order to clear the way for their totalitarian redemption of a condemned America. It would be of little concern to hardened neo Marxists; upon their ascension to complete power they would deal summarily with such "useful idiots" and "street trash".
ReplyDeleteThe far left was propelled in 2021 by belief that it had dodged the Trumpian bullet and had thus taken on itself a momentous opportunity to ensure that such an insolent roadblock need never again be suffered to stop their "progress" to perfection. The border invasion was enabled in order to provide their cause a massive advance while the getting was good.
Now they have "shot the bolt"; they gave it all the vitriol and amoral humbug they had and their best effort to defeat their worst nightmare has instead led to his undeniable confirmation as the advocate general of an America extensively aware now of the far left's perfidy and turpitude in its "by any means necessary" fanatic quest for unresistable rule.
Antiamerica was traumatized by the denial to them in 2016 of their expected ascension to the point of no return, where their eventual dictatorship would be ensured. Contrary to some perfectionist doubts about Hillary among some on the far left , I think most of them were confident that this grimly vindictive woman, who had endured unending public humiliation from her caddish "husband" solely in order to gain power, would, once she finally secured it, launch a whirlwind of Marxist "reform". They were stung to the quick by the Trumpian denial of this "right" and determined to punish and bury the insolent and presumptuous interloper who worked it. They fluffed! And their border ploy has served them execrablely this year and how they deserve it!
Dr. Waddy from Jack: On Breitbart today it is reported that Time magazine has received subscription cancellations due to its heretical naming of DJT as "Person" of the Year. A plague on both their houses! The Dem circular firing squad is fully deployed and the fireworks have commenced. It will be fascinating to see how it plays out.
ReplyDeleteJust think: this is merely the interim and already antiamerica is beside itself with anxiety over "how, oh how are we going to endure this after Jan. 20!?" I think a significant factor in their "discomfort" is their expectation of "dictatorship" under DJT. I don't think they have any problem with the concept of highly authoritarian rule but they are terribly upset that THEIR path to complete dominance appears to have sustained a perhaps insurmountable roadblock.
They will not be able to make an objective accusation of dictatorship in progress because dictatorship is not going to happen. They may well then be bereft of any plausible doctrine and headed for deserved marginalization.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: "America First ! " :
ReplyDeletea conviction often expressed by DJT and now increasingly celebrated and declared as a professional motivation by his tentative appointees to executive power.
"Oh how icky!" The emotionally captured antiamerican left bleats thus. "Why America is scary and it has to be reeducated (or actually, educated in the first place) or forced into political correctness defined by our unchallengeable lights".
Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi has expressed "America First" as a guiding principle and I eagerly anticipate her empowerment of that in her battle with antiamerica's shamefully compromised Federal justice establishment.
For most other countries , "our country first" has always been an reflexive, creditable and vital reaction to grim reality in this hard world. No other country that I know of disparages it. It makes no sense to do so in an amoral world. Perhaps our unprecedented well being in America, brought about by a generation which faced, defeated and, with consummate horror, beheld the depravity of which misguided humanity is capable, after WWII , was incredible to far too many of the children of that heroic generation.
Its time, this time , for that smoky dream of consummate American evil , that probably only temporary aberration wrought by a youthfully activist faction of the boomers incapable of appreciating its great good fortune, to be put in its well earned , despised, place!
Jack, based on purely anecdotal evidence that I've gathered, it doesn't seem like the lefties have learned anything at all from the last election, which is very good news indeed, as far as I'm concerned!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Dems' chances in '26, '28, and beyond, I would remind you that NO ONE saw Slick Willy coming as a political phenomenon. His campaign was something of a joke...until it wasn't. The Dems may have several political geniuses waiting in the wings, for all we know. Or it may not take a genius or even a journeyman politician to win next time around. Their plan may be simply to win by default if we fall flat on our faces, and generally speaking that's a pretty sound plan.
Jack, I find it hard to imagine that any Russian leader could be dumb/reckless enough to attack a NATO country, especially now that the Russian military has been exposed as a paper tiger, but as you point out desperate people do desperate things. That's one of the reasons why it's so unwise for us to push a nuclear-armed enemy to the breaking point...
I tend to agree that the Dems and lefties are just biding their time. They'll be frothing with rage again all too soon.
Jack, if the Dems' plan in opening the border was to sow chaos and then to benefit from the mayhem, it was, as you point out, a very flawed plan. They mouth the word "democracy" often enough. They ought to reflect on its ramifications.
You have to feel for the MSM. On one hand, if it caters only to angry liberals, it is condemned to terminal, if graceful, decline. But, if it reaches out to potential audiences in the center and on the right, it risks a furious backlash from its main customer base. Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place! And my crocodile tears for the poor dears could not be more genuine, I swear!
Hmm. The lefties have worked hard to brand Trumpists as "MAGA" rather than "America First", in the belief that the former tagline is toxic and pejorative. It will be interesting to see how Trump chooses to brand himself, going forward...
Dr. Waddy from Jack: MAGA has worked well and that's what really counts but my own preference would be "Take Our Country Back ". I don't think we've ceased to be a great country.
ReplyDeleteDr. Waddy from Jack: Far leftists in power are blithe to use the term democracy in a shamelessly counterintuitive manner. Eg. "People's Democratic Republic of . . . " (fill in the name of any of the many tragically unfortunate lands enslaved under this lie).
ReplyDeleteTheir actions once they acquire complete power: we need not wonder what they will be, as history has more than proven them. We can safely assume what they will be, even those of the remarkably patient neomarxist faction which seeks to incrementally invest our country in the name of justice, equity and "democracy".
Dr. Waddy from Jack: Let the MSM be ground to atoms in the merciless vise which they have created and in which they stand existentially threatened now. Let me presume to speak in this for the Vietnam veterans who were among the early objects of this now immeasurably shamed institution's initial attacks on America.
ReplyDeleteJack, I have no doubt that the MSM, as we know it, will bite the dust, as it so richly deserves, but the forces that direct it will remain, and we must assume that they'll find ways of bending the new media to their will as well. They already are, but it's in the nature of the new media that it's far more diverse and complex -- luckily for us!
