Catching Some Rays

Friends, make no mistake -- I am pro-sun.  Where would we be without the sun?  In the dark, for sure, and very, very cold.  That's why it's a good thing that scientists are studying the sun more intensely, and more intimately, than ever before.  No sign yet, though, that President Trump has any intention of annexing the sun, although I suspect it's only a matter of time...

In other news, Germany's government has collapsed and new elections are coming in February.  The "far-right" AfD looks likely to finish a strong second to the establishment conservatives.  Will a coalition government arise between the two parties, therefore?  One assumes not, because all the mainstream parties in Germany seem obsessed with giving the cold shoulder to the "far-right".  The more things change, the more they stay the same?

In a sign of CNN's abject humiliation and growing irrelevance, the rising star of conservative journalism, Newsmax, frequently beats it in the ratings.  Wow!  Imagine that!  CNN used to have a monopoly on cable news.  Now it barely has an audience at all.

Finally, a tempest is brewing in the MAGA-verse regarding the desirability of importing highly skilled immigrants to fill some of America's most desirable jobs, particularly in the tech sector.  Musk and Ramasawamy argue that America needs the world's best and brightest, whereas some conservatives feel that we should always hire Americans first and foremost.  The two views are not necessarily incompatible, but finding the right balance in our legal immigration policy won't be easy.

Are Leftists The New Shakers?

Friends, as my Christmas gift to you, I bring you this somewhat tongue-in-cheek article about how thankful we should we to crazy leftists for deciding to become celibate in reaction to the election victory of one Donald J. Trump.  This author is having a little fun at the progressives' expense, which is always tempting, but he raises a valid point.  Leftists believe that human beings, or rather human society, is inherently evil, oppressive, and environmentally destructive.  They look forward to a world with fewer people rather than more.  They often believe it is a sin against wokeness to have children yourself -- those little racist, sexist carbon machines that, after all, spoil our plans to get high all day and watch reruns of Barack Obama speeches.  The upshot is that people who think cutting off your genitals is morally superior to using them to make babies are not terribly likely to be fruitful and multiply, and thus, in the final analysis, conservatism, of a sort, might win a resounding demographic victory over leftism, in its current, horribly disfigured manifestation.  A comforting thought?  Perhaps!

Another sweet morsel for your Christmas stocking: Trump's favorability numbers are at an all-time high.  What's more, we know many of these pollsters are underrating Trump's popularity, even now.  Bodes well, I'd say!

Manifest Destiny

Friends, not only is past and incoming President Trump needling Canada about being, or becoming, the 51st state, but he's also talking about reclaiming U.S. sovereignty over the Panama Canal, and obtaining control of Greenland, which is currently a territory of Denmark.  I say: yes yes and yes!!!!  Let's "Make America Great Again" by making Greater America bigger than ever before!  I'm not sure how willing any of the residents of these areas might be, mind you, but DJT can be awfully persuasive...  Just ask those swing states, which are putty in his hands.

https://www.wsj.com/world/americas/trump-threatens-to-take-control-of-panama-canal-staple-of-global-economy-fdb3ef37?mod=hp_lead_pos5

Meanwhile, President Biden has commuted the death sentences of almost everyone on federal death row.  He's against the death penalty, you see, although he makes exceptions for murderers who he really, really dislikes.  He's both principled AND incoherent, in other words.  Sleepy Joe is the whole package!

Attacks by immigrants on innocent bystanders are becoming a distressingly common theme in the news these days, and just in time for Christmas!  This is yet another reason why uncontrolled mass migration needs to end.  Note how the immigrant status of the perpetrator in NYC isn't mentioned until the very end of the BBC article.  That's called "burying the lede".

Finally, here's a thoughtful analysis of "public opinion" and how it is shaped in the modern age.  You might even gain some insights into how Trump outsmarted the powerful establishment forces arrayed against him.

Threading the Needle

Friends, poor Mike Johnson probably should have gotten a job herding literal cats.  It would have been easier and less stressful than serving as Speaker of the House.  Nonetheless, efforts are underway to find a spending formula that can stave off a government shutdown.  We've been here before, after all, and the sky has never fallen.  I'm  confident that any shutdown, if it even happens, will be brief and easily survivable.  Heck, maybe it would even be a good start, from a DOGE perspective, to shut down everything that isn't "necessary"?

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/12/20/mike-johnson-attempts-plan-c-avert-government-shutdown/

Meanwhile, Trump's cabinet nominees are making the rounds, and surprisingly little focus has so far been on RFK, Jr., who you would think every Democrat would be clamoring to vote against.  Not so, but neither is every Republican brimming with enthusiasm for his candidacy.  At the end of the day, the betting markets like his chances, and so do I, which is an amazing thing to say given the contempt that the establishment has for the man.

Finally, Mexico's attitude to illegal immigration has always been ambivalent, at best.  Once in a while the country makes sympathetic noises about border control, but realistically Mexico will only crack down when its own interests are at stake and/or it is forced into line by a proactive American administration.  Thus, there's no doubt that Mexico will "play ball", to some extent, while Trump is president, but what's to stop there from being another record-setting avalanche of border crossers once a Democrat takes office again?  Not much.  Thus, there's only one way to secure the border permanently: ensure that no Democrat ever is president again, or force the Democratic Party to change its spots and become a centrist, rather than a leftist, organization.  The former feat might be easier to accomplish than the second!  All we have to do is make the Dems unviable as an opposition party.  They're doing their best to make it happen on their own, needless to say.  All they need is a little "push"...

New Worlds to Conquer

Friends, support for Nigel Farage's anti-woke, anti-immigration, anti-establishment Reform Party in the UK continues to grow, and he's getting interest now from a seemingly unlikely quarter: Elon Musk.  Musk is considering donating to the upstart movement, which certainly threatens the Conservative Party from the right, and may even become a contender to rule the country.  The disruptive effects of the Trump-Musk alliance, it seems, know no bounds...

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2024/12/18/elon-musk-giving-serious-thought-to-financially-backing-farages-reform-uk-party/

Meanwhile, the fall of the House of Trudeau in Canada seems imminent, as even Justin Trudeau's own Liberal Party balks at supporting him.  He's become a major drag on the Liberals, and I feel confident that, sooner rather than later, we will have sane, responsible partners up north.  That's good.  We want the 51st state to be well governed, do we not?

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn54elwep72o

President Biden is reassuring the American people that there's nothing "nefarious" about all those drones that have been spotted in the northeast.  Maybe there isn't.  Maybe this is another case of UFO hysteria.  Time will tell.  All I know is that I haven't seen any malevolent drones stalking me...

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4g2q1e238lo

Lastly, the time is coming when humans will live -- permanently -- on the Moon and Mars.  What's equally interesting is how many countries, and companies, are part of this new and improved "space race".  India is chomping at the bit to make waves in space.  Could the first manned habitat on another planetary body smell like curry?  It wouldn't shock me...

Sailing Through?

Friends, Democrats remain aghast at President Trump's nominees for high-level cabinet positions, but, as the incoming minority in the Senate, they won't have the capacity to stop a single one.  It's looking increasingly likely that Pete Hegseth might be confirmed as Secretary of Defense, and, if the bare knuckles campaign against him flops, what are the chances that at least four Republican Senators will muster the courage to sabotage any of Trump's other picks?  Answer: not high.  That bodes well for those who desire profound change inside the Beltway.  I'm reassured, because above all conservatives need Trump to be bold and determined during the next four years.  In his first term, Trump was bullied far too easily and far too often by the media and the political establishment.  This time we need him to be comfortable in his own skin.

Nailed It!

Friends, kudos to President Trump, who has been named Time's "Person of the Year" once again (the first instance was in 2016).  Of course, Time is part of the mainstream media, and thus its accolades mean little, but even the Fourth Estate seems to be developing a grudging respect for the man who simply refuses to die -- politically and literally.

https://nypost.com/2024/12/12/us-news/president-elect-donald-trump-named-times-person-of-the-year-after-historic-comeback-unparalleled-in-american-history/

Why did Trump win in 2024?  The reasons are numerous, but one was a massive mistake by the Biden-Harris Administration, which decided to invite the whole world to move to the USA -- borders be damned!  The record flow of legal and illegal migration put tremendous strains on the country, which Biden and Harris recognized in 2024 by ratcheting up border enforcement.  Of course, they didn't do that out of any concern for the country.  They did it to save their own skins.  It was too little, too late, as it turned out.

MSNBC and CNN's ratings are way, way down, but as this article explains that's entirely predictable given the despondency now gripping leftists.  The real question is: how long will they stay down in the dumps, and, when they make their inevitable comeback, how much vivacity will they be able to muster?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/elections/msnbc-ratings-collapse-postelection-fox-news-surges-as-cable-faces-an-uncertain-future/ar-AA1vHj01

Finally, the Secretary-General of NATO is right to suggest that most European countries are freeloading off of the military strength of the United States -- although he would never phrase it exactly like that -- but he's wrong to argue that the solution to present tensions with Russia is more militarization.  Russia is completely incapable of invading Europe.  Why not settle the Russia-Ukraine War and then convince all parties to go back to minding their own business?  Give peace a chance, I say!

Blessed Are The Peacemakers

Friends, is there any problem Trump can't solve?  Well, time will tell, but one thing is for sure: he's going to shake up the American/NATO strategy in Ukraine in a big way, and hopefully in a way that will end the fighting posthaste.  That's the subject of my most recent article, published at World Net Daily:

A Winning Smile

Friends, Big Brother is watching you, and indeed all of us, including the recently named prime suspect in the murder of the United Healthcare CEO.  Once again, it appears that a lone nut is responsible for this outrage, although, unlike DJT's potential assassins, this guy knew how to shoot straight.  It makes one wonder whether attempts on the lives of prominent people will be the new normal in America.  Heaven knows we certainly have enough citizens with the desire to kill, matched with an extreme ideological perspective that tells them that any means necessary to stop evildoers can be justified.  Whether we have all that many people with the guts and gumption to follow through is another matter.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp9nxee2r0do

Meanwhile, here's an insightful analysis of the current situation in the Russia-Ukraine War.  Both sides are facing some pretty considerable headwinds, so it's hard to say which leader -- Zelensky or Putin -- might be more desperate to come to terms.

A Radio Show That Will Live In Infamy!

Friends, while Brian and I delve into the history of the Pearl Harbor attack of December 7th, 1941 ever so briefly on this week's Newsmaker Show, most of our incisive commentary instead focuses on current events, including: the stakes in the Pete Hegseth nomination, which I view as a lot lower than some conservatives suggest; the chances that China or North Korea will take advantage of recent political instability in South Korea; presidential pardons and their political ramifications; the rapprochement between Meta and DJT; and the fall of the French government and what it suggests about the strength of populist conservatism in Europe.  It's an in-depth exploration of some very weighty topics that you won't want to miss!

In other news, we here at WaddyIsRight wish to be among the first to congratulate Bashar al-Assad and his family, who have made the understandable decision to relocate to the beautiful and culturally vibrant city of Moscow, the charms of which are particularly notable at this time of year.  May you prosper in your new abode, Assads, and may you never trouble the people of Syria again!

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwy8xzxe0w7t

Events are unfolding incredibly rapidly in Syria, and we hope that they will bring the long-suffering people there some relief, but interestingly DJT has used the opportunity of Assad's ouster to advocate for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.  It's a concept that I have long believed would be in the best interests of all concerned.  It would be a great start to a peace process that, admittedly, won't be easy, but needs to begin ASAP.

Finally, now that Sleepy Joe is the Pardoner-in-Chief, lefties are lining up to receive the sacrament of the presidential pardon.  Who can blame them?  Being included on Biden's list means that he perceives you as one of Donald Trump's most fearsome and implacable enemies, and what progressive and/or Democrat would not wish to be on such a list???  My guess is that the pardons will come thick and fast, but my guess would also be that Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer will be left out in the cold, for reasons that I'm sure you can guess...

Ron's ReSanctification?

Friends, reports are circulating that DJT could pull the plug on his nomination of Pete Hegseth as SecDef and give the post to -- wait for it! -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his erstwhile ally and erstwhile rival.  Hmm!  I have no idea if any of the allegations against Hegseth are true, or if they're the usual inside the beltway smokescreen, but there's no doubt that DeSantis would be a very formidable presence at the Department of Defense.  He's a capable administrator and someone who knows how to get results out of an ossified political system, and that could go a long way.  I trust that, at the end of the day, we'll end up with a Secretary of Defense who will Make America Fierce Again!

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-floats-desantis-potential-defense-secretary-replacement-hegseth-falters

Meanwhile, Sleepy Joe has pardoned his son Hunter -- gee, I never saw that coming! -- and there's speculation that he might spray the entire Deep State with a fire hose of pardons, in order to forestall any prosecutions that might come out of Trump's DOJ.  That would be a mighty interesting development!  It certainly wouldn't make the dastardly Dems look good, although no doubt they're bargaining that, by 2026 and 2028, the voters will have long forgotten about it.  They're probably right.

Meanwhile, the good folks at MSNBC (maybe the makeup lady qualifies as "good"?) are fretting over the future of the network, as corporate maneuvering plus ultra-low ratings signify that the gold standard in progressive "journalism" is teetering on the brink.  To that end, check out the last article, by a pal o' mine, who suggests that now is the time to kick the lefties when they're down and, if possible, finish them off -- politically, of course.  I couldn't agree more.  We need to press our advantage while we have it, and, if we can blow up some of the institutional props that keep leftism viable, let's go for it, I say!
