Friends, as you know, the assault on America's history is intensifying every day. Protests and attempts at vandalism of statues and monuments are now daily occurrences. Nonetheless, historians and patriots are pushing back against the wrecking ball of leftist ideology. I recommend to you this article, which is a balanced, sensible defense of the importance of Christopher Columbus to U.S. and world history. Was Columbus perfect? Surely not, but more than anyone else he helped to bring about what we know as America -- a fusion of cultures, albeit not always harmonious, based in the western hemisphere. In a sense, therefore, to reject Columbus is to reject America itself. Unacceptable! I, for one, say we should keep Columbus Day, keep honoring Columbus, and keep celebrating America, warts and all.
