Friends, it's been a rough few days for Trekkies! First, we lost Mr. Chekov, and now Captain Picard! I personally resisted watching Star Trek: The Next Generation for many years -- I'm something of a purist, you see -- but when I finally did watch I enjoyed it immensely, and a lot of that is down to the superb acting skills of Sir Patrick Stewart. It's a hackneyed phrase, but they really don't make 'em like him anymore. We'll have to make do with Anson Mount, I guess...

In other news, the New York Times has upended the Alaska Senate race by reporting on the skullduggery of Democrats who are trying to trick voters by putting multiple Dan Sullivans on the ballot. The shocking thing here isn't that Democrats are creeps, but that the Times still engages in actual journalism!!! Who knew?
