Fun in the Sun

Friends, America just gets better and better thanks to DJT -- not that most Americans appear to have noticed.  Case in point: President Trump is offering one of his trademark golf clubs in Florida as a "presidential retreat" for future Commanders-in-Chief.  What a swell guy!  No doubt Democrats would burn it all to the ground if they got half a chance, which they may...  All this harkens back to the days when President Truman would visit the "Little White House" in Key West, Florida.  A nice tradition, if you ask me!

In yet more good news, the number of people filing for unemployment is low, low, low, signaling that we are close to "full employment", despite all the doom-saying that you hear about the job market and everything else.

Lastly, crime is a scourge that has been a top-tier issue in American politics, but no more...  Now the media only covers (alleged) outrages committed by federal agents.  Crimes committed by (self-motivated) thugs and maniacs just don't have much cachet these days.  To be fair, there are a lot fewer crimes to cover...thanks to President Trump!  The bottom line is that we are all safer because of the anti-crime measures this administration has taken.  We Republicans have the good sense and grace to admit it.  The Democrats never will and never would.

  1. Dr. Waddy: Because it happened yesterday and today, I presume on your leave to comment on it first: Comrade Mamdani condescended to personally grace a vigil for the victims of Oct. 7 which was confronted and savaged by barbarians expectorating "Long Live Hamas! while it was still in dolorous progress. In commenting upon this outrage he opined moral equivalence of Oct. 7 to Israel's subsequent necessary invasion of Gaza to root out Hamas criminals who had forcefully esconsed themselves into and under the daily settings of Gazan life. That's about like saying that a stentorian interruption of a meeting of Holocaust survivors by avatars of Himmler, Eichman and Heydrich would be "understandable".

But let us not gainsay Comrade Mamdani's obvious, though not overtly expressed good will. "When all Israelis leave Israel, 'that will be the last of my territorial demands!' " might be his thought. "Why sure, as they reembark on their 2000 year old world tour they will be fully as welcome here in NYC as I have made our Jewish residents feel already" he might want to say upon this signal event.

Its certain that criticism of Israeli policy can be made without manifesting antisemitism. Trouble is, that criticism is often as harsh, contemptuous of Israeli concerns and hyperbolically hostile that it surely does originate in Jew hatred. Comrade Mamdani's attitude toward Israel does appear to be in the latter category (if it looks like a duck , squacks like a duck, and soils like a duck etc. it probably is. . . ) and any overt expression of his to the contrary is patronizing and disingenuous realpolitking.

  2. Dr. Waddy: For some DSA/Dem lawmakers criminals and their families are a significant faction of their constituents. To some DSA/Dem DAs , Attorneys General, and detached mostly civilian supervisors of those law enforcement and correctional personnel who are actually in the field , the "so called" criminals are actually victims and their oppressors are the law abiding. I know this from first hand experience with virtue signaling apologists for criminals in my career working in state prisons. It sounds loony to all of common sense but these people cannot be dissuaded from their lunacy EXCEPT when they become victims of gratuitous crime and even then some of them persist . They disdain the fact that most criminals have an extensive group of often unexpecting recipients of their arbitrary outrages, at their convenient disposal. And the perpetrators are not burdened by "due process" in the imposition of their will on those they choose to savage. This is of no moment to the bleeding hearts who would prioritize "compassion" for wrong DOERS.

The Trump administration has put the priority right where it should be: That is , on protecting the innocent. It is doing that by emphasizing the long since proven truth that only well directed FORCE deters most criminals from recommitting or refraining from victimizing. For those who cannot be dissuaded , permanent separation from the public is indispensable , including the ultimate deterrent, death. President Trump's approval of death for the Fort Hood mass murderer is exemplary. His administration has revived common sense in crime policy and has discredited academics and "experts" who casually experiment on the law abiding public with their relentless insistence on discerning "root causes " of crime at the expense of an overpatient public long oppressed by coddled thugs who do crime because they are , gasp! . . . bad!

  3. RAY TO DR. WADDY AND JACK

On the almost eve of the elections, I hope that the both of you won't have to put up with Governor Kathy Hochul much longer. Wish us luck in Kansas.

And as always, thanks for the articles and comments.

I know this is trite on my part, but whatever happens at the midterms, there is still 2028. I sure will be glad when they (the midterms) are over.
Can this period leading up to them be described as "national anxiety"?

  5. Ray: I agree, except I don't think your comment is trite. I think this is a time for profound alarm that the very prospect of a Marxist dominated Congress obtains in our country of all places. Common sense America must politically mobilize now and destroy this onerous movement in the shell. I think Senator Fetterman might be our ace in the hole but if we come out of this election in fairly good shape it will probably be a near run thing, far too near. The '28 campaign will be a marathon, maybe comparable to 1860.

  6. Ray: And I forgot, we have Donald Trump now, whose astonishing resolve has also been our ace in the hole since 2016. Let's set these budding totalitarians back a notch and when they go for it all in '28, put them back in their place : the gutter from which they slimed out in the '60s.

  7. Dr. Waddy: Well, here we go with the moral equivalency again., At least its often people of apparent good will expressing it, not always Marxist avatars of mass murderers.

The Trump Administration will livestream the firing squad execution of the Ft. Hood fanatic. Some critics have said "that's what ISIS , Iran and the Taliban do. If we do it we are just like them!" Ehh, not quite.

Those done to death by those regimes for political or religious offense number in the thousands and are not afforded any consideration even approaching the due process our legal system mandates. Then these atavistic neomedievalists stage very public hangings , burnings alive and the sawing off of living heads. Medical alleviation of consequent prolonged suffering is apparently not mandated.

Affording a mass murderer an almost instant dispatch and a public viewing limited to those who choose to witness it in private settings is VERY FAR FROM equivalent to these hideous practices.

My but so many Westerners are eager to don assertively visible hairshirts and do facile penance for what they see as our civilization's unmitigated and manifest injustices. Cultural relevance , widely dictated in many Western educational settings, holds that all cultures are of equal justice, wisdom , compassion, competence in affording material well being, "tolerance" and any other conceivable virtue . All cultures, that is, except for Western civilization , which is by this doctrine reserved an automatically and thorough going condemnation. It is a doctrine well suited for virtue signalers, many of whom apparently seek to alleviate the guilt they "feel" for being members of "proscribed " groups such as the successful, the justly strong, the soundly educated, those willing to accept the judgement of democratically formed and enforced law, those willing to work honestly for just recompense . Instead they embrace exemplary guidance from criminals, dissemblers , those unwilling to accept the fact that their own misconduct is the source of their backwardness and especially those who seek to impose their "equity" based ideas on all who are as "unwise "as to disagree with them.

Of course Westgern civilization has and has had greivous faults. But we have addressed them in ways showing true repentance for past injustices and have offered much self abnegating recompense. Maybe this reality has not been given deserved consideration by those who would condemn this measured deliverance of justified and exemplary retribution to a terribly oppressive wrong doer, the like of whom bear only withering contempt for such victims and the laws which proscribe the evil he inflicted.
