Like Old Times

Friends, DJT has done the unthinkable: he has endorsed (tepidly) Andrew Cuomo in his bid for Mayor of New York City.  Wow!  Basically, Trump is saying that voting for Curtis Sliwa, the Republican, is a waste.  Well, not in a ranked choice voting system, surely.  Trump's endorsement could easily seal the deal...for Zohran Mamdani, such is the disdain that most New Yorkers have for Trump.  And maybe Trump would like that, since Mamdani would be a wonderful punching bag for the next four years...  Then again, Trump's endorsement might, just might, encourage enough Sliwa backers to identify Cuomo as their "second choice" that Cuomo will win in a ranked choice election.  Check out the latest Atlas poll, which puts Cuomo within striking distance.  That poll is an outlier, but Atlas has been right on the money in the past...

Finally, did you hear about the vile invective that Nancy Pelosi poured out against DJT recently?  I say "vile" partly because that's exactly what Pelosi said about Trump: he's a "vile creature".  And that is indeed how so many progressives think about Trump, and his supporters: we're no longer political opponents, worthy of rhetorical engagement -- we're monsters, demons, beasts, worthy only of annihilation.  Bear this in mind as we formulate our agenda and our tactics.  The vengeance that would be visited upon us, should we ever surrender power, would be...frightful!

  1. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Pelosi also croaked forth during President Trump's first term that "the" ( no, our) "White House would have to be fumigated after he leaves". Oh, ok. How about her Speaker's Office after the electorate fired her? How about our White House after that most obscene couple, typical presumptuous boomer radicals, exited?! I conversed once with a person who had listened to one of "the help" at the White House about what it was like to clean up after one of Slick Willie's "amorous" sessions in rooms once graced by worthy Presidents. Didn't hear any of dessicated Nancy 's execrable dreck over that!

  2. Dr. Waddy from Jack: Talk about a "Hobson's Choice". The grotesquerie manifested by the NYC Mayoral race is manifest.

First of all, NYC is an absolutely counterintuitive outlier from American culture. Could Mamdani have had any chance in Tulsa? Could Cuomo ever have found an electorate willing to give him a 15th chance at office out
side of NYC after his sordid nature was revealed?

NYC is a place where that which castigates the "provincialism" of the America thankfully free of its fantastically baleful order is widely lauded.

Compounding the irony which permeates NYC's dominant contempt for an America which tolerates its presence instead of cutting it loose to float out to sea, is the fact that our country is now graced by the Presidency of another NYC product. But he reflects the admirable and positive side of that place; the kind of people who rushed into the doomed World Trade Center to do their duty; the kind who strive, against the most unjust odds imaginable, to keep NYC from dissolving in a welter of crime; the Americans who wish only to lead American lives in their very home. Those kind of people would be welcome anywhere in this country but they, like so many others who were the target of Cuomo's disdain ('just a vocal minnahritty who are not real New Yawkas"), well, they don't want to leave the neighborhood or see it "fundamentally transformed" by an unapologetic Marxist.

  3. Not "baleful order" , "baleful ordur", which is what I entered. Wish this device would stop presuming to think for me. Jack

  5. Yes, only in NYC could it come down to Mamdani or Cuomo, i.e. Dumb and Dumber, or Dumber and Dumb, depending on your POV. What a place! Why anyone "of means" puts up with it I'm not sure.
