Friends, it appears that the Israelis and Hamas have reached preliminary agreement on a peace plan proposed by...bloodthirsty warlord Donald J. Trump??? Now, that is surprising! Who gets the credit is of course very unimportant. That the war should come to an end, and the people of Gaza given an opportunity to build new lives under a politically neutral, competent, and public spirited international administration, is what matters. That Israel's security concerns be credibly addressed is also, needless to say, absolutely necessary. Can DJT square this circle? Let's hope so.
In other news, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker says that Trump wants to deploy the National Guard in Chicago because he has "dementia". Would it follow that Joe Biden didn't deploy the National Guard because he was dementia-free? Not necessarily! I tell you, these Democrats live in an alternate reality in which all derogatory claims about Trump are, by definition, true. Is Trump sometimes impulsive, even childish? Sure. But the fact is...Trump is Trump. He hasn't changed. He's as sane, and as spritely, as he ever was. And, even if we admitted that some of the Dems' fantastical claims about Trump were true, what does it say about the Democrats that they can't beat an opponent who is "self-evidently" a criminal, an imbecile, a lunatic, a pathological liar, etc etc etc.? I mean, if that's what the American people want, lefties, isn't it time you packed it up and moved to Canada, or France, or Sweden, or wherever it is that democratic socialism rules the roost? Food for thought.

Dr. Waddy from Jack: Ditto: lets hope that Gaza is delivered from the curse of Hamas. Apparently Israel has gutted Hamas but no doubt will be on alert for any reprise of this barbarian horde. Israel is here to stay and militant Islam is going to realize sooner or later that it will just have to live with this high civilization in its midst.

ReplyDeleteRecommend you consider reading an article dated July 31,2025 by Devin Sper, appropriate to the on-going peace process in Gaza. The title "The Two-State Solution Died on October 7", is posted at his site (devinsper.com Author & Speaker-Devin Sper) . Mr. Sper lived in Israel for 10 years, has a degree in Jewish History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and served in The Israel Defense Forces.
Dr. Waddy from Jack : Lets see if this uneasy and still very tentative peace holds up. Looks like it has a real chance. Our gutsy street smart President once again may well show himself to be a master negotiator. Makes common sense; he was tempered in a high stress, merciless setting, NYC real estate. He was annealed in an even more unforgiving crucible, the blood sport of today' s bitterly partisan polity. And in both settings no doubt he honed his comprehension of the "art of the possible".
ReplyDeleteSome of the proposed features of this agreement reflect a very hard headed realism. Getting Israel to countenance release of 250 lifers who they probably have good reason to expect they will meet in combat again had to be emotionally trying to say the least. And negotiating with utterly untrustworthy neo medieval savages like Hamas, who probably submit only to irresistable force, even perhaps through go betweens ,maybe themselves nearly as reprehensible (or perhaps not so), must be almost indescribably difficult. The entire setting is suffused with antipathy beyond measure.
Some knowedgeable observers think this development could lead to a lasting peace of a sort in the Middle East. What a blessing that would be for everyday people there! And part of the benefit might come from a majority of Israel"s Muslim neighbors eventually realizing that they can benefit from good relations with an Israel the high civilization of which can be an incalculably valuable asset to the region and no threat to its neighbors unless it is itself threatened .
Our President , in his intimate involvement in this setting and especially his steadfast support for Israel , continues thus to build a brilliant reputation! How very astonishing history is! For castigated individuals, dismissed by so many, to rise to such impending or well accomplished greatness (eg. respectively, President Trump and PM Churchill) is redeeming to witness, either historically or in real time.
Dr. Waddy from Jack: What qualifies the Illinois Gov. to say anyone has dementia? Has he a Doctorate in Psychiatry? If not, is he relying on thus authoritative advice? If so he should acknowledge it. If not he should . . . but oh well, let him bloviate to his heart's content. And I hope he does get his party's dubiously honorable nomination; I'd love to see JD or Pam Bondi take him apart in debate.
ReplyDeleteThe more these Dems indulge in their now beyond tiresome TDS the more they discredit themselves. Frankly, they are approaching laughability on it. Let the Illinois Governor dash his Presidential hopes to pieces on the rocks of this ever more unsupportable, bitter beyond measure, tantrum against a man light years ahead of him in benefit to America and perhaps the world. Oh do be a latter day Mondale , Gov. Pretzels !
Jack/Ray, as far as I know, Trump has proposed no long-term solution for Gaza and the West Bank -- certainly not a "two-state solution". We've got a formula for an interim, international administration in Gaza, and even that formula is pretty vague in its outlines. Still, we're beginning to foresee a future in which neither Israel nor Hamas controls Gaza, on a day to day basis, and maybe that's the best that can be hoped for?
ReplyDeleteJack, I'm disappointed that the Dems haven't paid more of a price for the extremities of their TDS, but I suppose in a sense you could say they've already paid the ultimate price. My reasoning is thus: it's the wild, uncalibrated, irresponsible nature of the Left's Trump hatred that has rendered it so...ineffective, and sometimes self-defeating. This scattershot approach to taking down Trump led, perhaps inexorably, to his victory in 2024. In a sense, the more the Dems double down on this failed strategy, the better, from our perspective, because this guarantees that all their arrows will simply bounce off DJT himself, on whom, needless to say, most of our hopes are pinned.

DeleteThanks for setting me straight on the Gaza solution, seriously.
In any event, I'm not against Trump getting a Nobel Peace prize, no matter what. He certainly deserves it for trying to clean up that mess.
